Our first introduction into Outcast’s demonic possession comes from an unlikely source, a little boy. As we later find out, Joshua (played by Gabriel Batman) is one of many afflicted in the small town of Rome, West Virginia. After eatings bugs and his own fingers as snacks, his mother calls on Reverend Anderson to assist. The Rev attempts to exorcise the demon to but is unsuccessful, leading him to call the town’s black sheep Kyle Barnes.
Kyle reluctantly agrees to help and manages to do what Reverend Anderson had yet to figure out – exorcise the demon. There’s something special about Kyle, and Joshua’s successful exorcism is the first step in Kyle figuring out his true identity.
