“Stalker”

Beta walks into an RV in the field, where a Whisperer opens a latch revealing a deep pathway. Beta jumps down, lights a lantern, and walks deeper into the cave.

Rosita wakes from a nightmare involving a Whisperer killing Coco. Later, Gamma/Mary arrives at Alexandria’s gates and immediately gets surrounded at spear-point. Gabriel questions Mary’s intentions, pointing out the horde wasn’t where she told Aaron it would be. “I’m trying to help,” Mary pleads. She explains the baby left at Hilltop is her nephew and she’ll show them where the cave is to see him. Gabe seems to agree but Rosita clocks her in the face, demanding she get thrown into the cell.

Daryl stalks a lone Whisperer walking through the woods. He nearly kills one until he spots the cave opening and Alpha herself walks out. Back in town, Rosita and Gabriel visit Mary in her cell and explain the blood on the ground is from another Whisperer. “God says I should hang you,” Gabe threatens. He says she’ll have to prove to them she’s not like the others. So, Mary tearfully recalls killing her sister, which seems to move them.

In the forest, Daryl shoots one of Alpha’s guards, causing her to flee. Daryl runs up and kills another before going against Alpha himself. They scrape and slice at each other, causing Daryl to literally see red. Still, he manages to stab Alpha in the arm with a tree branch. Walkers approach so he’s forced to fight them off, leaving Alpha open to stab him in the leg with a knife.

Daryl and Alpha limp over to separate corners of an abandoned gas station. Alpha spots walkers nearby so she starts banging her gun on the wall to attract them. Meanwhile, Gabriel gives a fire and brimstone speech to Rosita, Laura, and Scott, encouraging them to take fingers if they trap a Whisperer. A little later, Rosita confronts Gabriel about his tough talk.

Judith chats with Mary in her cell and asks what she was like before the Whisperers. Mary explains she used to have a normal life in Santa Monica but doesn’t remember much else because Alpha brainwashed her. Elsewhere, the walkers move into the gas station so Daryl’s forced to kick off a fire extinguisher and use it as a weapon. He kills two but has to rip the knife from his leg to kill the third. His leg gushes as he tries to stop the bleeding.

That night, a hand reaches out of a grave in Alexandria – it’s Beta. He crawls out and unsheathes his double blades before slaughtering a house of survivors. Beta then sits down and meditates as he waits for his victims to re-animate. On the road, Gabe and his scout team finally realize they were pulled out of town for a reason. In Alexandria, the walkers attack as Beta finds Mary in her cell. He opens the door and says Alpha wants to talk to her. Suddenly,, Laura shows up and holds a spear to Beta, letting Mary escape. He grabs it and they wrestle until he bashes her head against the cell door, killing her.

Judith tells Mary to stay with her as Beta’s close on their heels. He tries a door upstairs but gets shot through it. Judith puts down her gun and takes RJ to another room. Mary tries to follow but Beta grabs her ankles and pulls her down – turns out he was wearing a bulletproof vest. Before he can kill her, Rosita shows up and the two fight. Rosita slices his stomach and he nearly kills her before Mary tells him to stop. She’s holding his other knife to her throat, saying she know he can’t kill her because Alpha wants her alive. So, he escorts her away. In the woods, Gabriel and the others show up, forcing Beta to flee and Mary to get on her knees. She tells them her plan and Gabriel seems to trust her.

Back at the gas station, Alpha takes off her mask and tells Daryl “pain made you.” He tells her she drove Lydia away because she didn’t love her and Alpha prods him to repeat what he said. She tries to crawl over as the two of them let out what could be their last breaths. Alpha passes out and awakes to see Lydia standing over her. Alpha tells her to get ready to lead the Whisperers, but Lydia declines. She tells her Daryl’s people are just human and they’re living the life Alpha never gave her. Alpha miraculously wakes up the next morning to find Daryl missing. She sees he carved her a message with the knife she stabbed him with: “Your way is not the only way.”

In town, Gabe and Scott discover it was Cheryl’s grave that Beta crawled through while Aaron returns and tells them not everyone made it out of the cave. A little later, Rosita, RJ, and Judith prepare to go to Hilltop, allowing Mary to tag along. Rosita formally introduces herself. In the woods, Lydia tends to Daryl’s wound. He asks if she killed Alpha and she asks if he could have killed his father. (So no). Nearby, Whisperers tend to Alpha’s wounds. She sits up and begins repeating her Whisperer creed to herself.

So how did Dante help build the tunnel? If he’s dead how could he build a tunnel? Of course he did it when he was alive but how did he dig a tunnel without anyone not?

So the tunnel opens in Dante’s grave???What?! No, he never deserved a grave,I would have decapitated him and made sure Alpha got his head!! Mary had better start telling all she knows. Good episode,a bit easier to actually see the action!

I think Dante was digging that tunnel–or the entry to it–when he was burying Sheryl. He killed her so that he could dig in the cemetery without anyone questioning him. My guess is that he digs through, drops Sheryl’s body in the hole, and the weird Underground Whisperers disposed of it when it dropped down. Now, why the dirt was able to form a mound above ground when there is a tunnel beneath it is beyond me, but I’ll just suspend disbelief for that part! LOL!

Me thinks since Dante “buried” Cheryl, he simply created access to the tunnel. I think Lydia may turn out to be the best chance for finding Connie and Magna alive. I also think Lydia is the shooter outside the cave, not Daryl. He didn’t have his crossbow at that time.

I believe you are right!!! I thought it was strange that he buried her(after killing her). He had been developing that tunnel connection for a while!
