“Conquer”
Time flies! Here we are at yet ANOTHER Season Finale of The Walking Dead! Will questions be answered? Will we learn what that W means? Will Morgan show up? Who will die? WILL CORAL GET HIS PUDDING?! Find out right… MEOW.
Well one of these questions gets answered right away because… it’s Morgan! Sleeping in an abandoned wreck, he wakes up, takes a look at the lucky rabbit foot hanging from the mirror and smiles. Apparently it’s a good day to be Morgan! He makes himself some breakfast and suddenly it’s not such a good day to be Morgan. A man with a gun and a “W” painted on his head (WHAT THE) comes out of the woods. The reason for the W: “You know the first settlers here? They put bounties on wolves’ heads. Brought the natives into it. Made them hunt them. Didn’t take them too long to kill them all. They’re back now.” Doesn’t quite explain it. The guy is fairly cordial. And Morgan plays it pretty cool. The guy says they find new people every couple of weeks. His plan: take everything Morgan has. Every bite and every drop. And take Morgan too, or his corpse at least.
Morgan offers to let him have everything if he’ll leave him alive. But he will not allow the man to take him. Another man bursts out of the trees and swings a machete at Morgan. He dodges and gives them a chance to retreat. Then he uses some newly acquired Matrix skills to kick their asses with his staff. He leaves them in the back seat of the car, honks the horn, and closes the doors. I guess they’ll be surrounded by walkers for a while…
Rick wakes up, groggy and in a dark room. He laughs. Michonne, who hasn’t left his side, isn’t nearly as amused and wants to know what’s so funny. It reminds him of the shipping container in Terminus. “After the whole thing, I’m still there.” Michonne wants to know what he’s doing, why he didn’t include her in any plans. Rick didn’t trust her with the guns because he knows she wants Alexandria to work. Glenn, Carol, and Abe show up. Michonne asks Rick where he got the gun. Carol covers immediately and lets Abraham and Michonne believe that Rick acted alone and took just one gun. That crafty Carol!
There’s to be a community meeting that night. Maggie is trying to find out what it’s about. Carol coaches him on what the right story is. Michonne wants to know why Carol is putting on an act. “Because these people are children.” The new plan: if it things go south, Rick whistles, everyone grabs a hostage and holds them at knife-point. They’ll threaten to slit their throats unless they hand over the armory at which point it’s over. Rick says he hit his limit and screwed up. And now, nap time.
Over to Maggie at the Monroe’s house. Deanna is pissed but Maggie argues that Deanna let them in when she was thinking clearly and when she talked to all of them at length. Now she wants to turn the decision over to a bunch of frightened, ill-informed people. Reg points out that Michonne is the one who stopped him. Deanna says she’ll do what she has to and Maggie storms off. Reg goes after her. He tells her how man started as nomads but civilization starts when people stop running and start working together. When they stop sending people away. He’s going to tell everyone that at the meeting. Reg is awesome.
Sasha is clearing the wall of the walkers she’s put down and piling them into a grave. She looks down at them and then lays down in the grave on top of them. Well that’s creepy. I guess sometimes you just want to feel dead. But can you imagine how awful that smells?!
Daryl and Aaron are off on a scouting mission. Aaron tells him that they tail their target long enough until they can tell how they are. He tells Daryl about two men and a woman led by a man named Davidson (comic fans take note). When things went bad they drove the group far away, took their guns, and left them. Aaron says he won’t make that mistake again. They come across their target: a man in a red poncho. He’s got wilderness skills. He uses wild leeks to keep mosquitoes off of him. Daryl’s impressed.
I guess it’s Carol’s turn to watch Rick. Now that they’re alone, she wakes him up and gives him a gun. Carol says she didn’t tell them about the guns “just in case.” Rick says that Michonne was right to knock him out. When Rick says he doesn’t want to lie anymore, Carol implies that it’s naive to think that they can be truthful AND stay in Alexandria. Girl is jaded. Rick heads outside. He walks past Tobin, says hi. He walks past Deanna’s place and they just stare at each other.
Maggie tells Glenn about the meeting. He tells her that he loves her and all of a sudden, it’s like, uh oh is Glenn in trouble? She heads off to talk to other Alexandrians before the meeting. Glenn sits for a while and then sees Nicholas scale the wall (not exactly stealthy–clang clang clang) and hop over. Where the hell is Nicholas going? Glenn appears to go after him but we cut to…
Spencer opening the gate for Father Gabriel. Gabriel refuses a firearm and says he’s just going for a short walk and God will be all the protection he needs. Well, we’ll see about that.
Rick gets back home. He tells Carl that he’s not going to the meeting. He acknowledges that Alexandria is “home” now. Carl points out that the Alexandrians can’t survive without them. Rick let’s Carl know that he may have to take a hostage at the meeting. Possibly kill them. You know, as you do. Carl tells him that he can make them listen without killing.
Back to Daryl and Aaron. They’ve lost the man in the red poncho but they have found a potential supply bonanza. So a choice then: try to pick up the trail or take care of some walkers and scavenge. Daryl wants to find the guy. He thinks they need numbers. Aaron argues that if they do find people, they’ll need to be able to feed them. So they scavenge. They draw the walkers to the fence, kill them, and then enter. They find canned food trucks. Aaron finds an Alaska plate so he takes it off. He points out that the guy is in a red poncho and very visible. Of course maybe that’s on purpose…
When they open the back of one of the trucks, it’s a trap. All of the trucks are full of walkers and the doors all spring open at once. Aaron has to start cutting off heads with his license plate, Daryl starts stabbing. A lot of the walkers have the W carved in their heads… Eventually they fight their way to a car (getting in some nice kills on the way) and lock themselves in. Aaron finds a note:
TRAP. BAD PEOPLE COMING. DON’T STAY.
While this is happening we see Pete, sitting alone in his new house in the dark. Carol arrives with a casserole. She tells him he needs to check on Tara. When he tells her to leave she pulls a knife and let’s him know how easily she could kill him and everyone would just believe that he’d tried to hurt her. She even challenges him to hit her. I was wrong, Carol didn’t bring a casserole, it was definitely Scarol. “Play your cards right and maybe you don’t have to die. And I want my dish back CLEAN when you’re done.”
Pete drops the casserole and starts yelling to himself “THIS ISN’T MY HOUSE.” So he’s stable. I’m sure that’s the last we’ll see of him.
Outside the walls Glenn follows Nicholas. He finds a walker on the ground and then BANG gets shot! Oh shit no! Nicholas runs over to finish him but Glenn is gone…
In town, Rick checks on Jessie (she has a black eye from when Pete knocked her away). She tells him that they shouldn’t be seen together and he counters that he’s not sorry that he did it, no matter what happens. He turns to leave and she stops him, tells him he was right. As he walks away we see that scary Pete was watching from his new house.
Daryl and Aaron are trapped in a glass cage of emotion—car, I mean car—while walkers paw at the windows endlessly. Aaron tells Daryl how seeing how he brought his people to safety in the barn when the storm hit is what convinced him that he should bring them in. He tells Daryl that he was right to want to continue after the man in the red poncho (the guy that led you to this crazy trap?!). Daryl offers to sacrifice himself. He’ll make a run for it and draw the walkers off, giving Aaron time to get out. Sad music plays and for a bit it seems like Daryl’s going to die. Aaron tells him no. They’ll fight together. Die together or live together. They get ready to head into certain death in one, two, th—Morgan arrives!
The three of them are able to get outside the fence and shut the gate. Introductions are made. Daryl (who has never met Morgan) asks Morgan why he saved them. “Because all life is precious now.” Aaron invites him back to Alexandria. Morgan declines. He’s on his way somewhere. He asks for directions and hands Daryl his map, the one that Abraham left. Daryl sees the note and looks at Morgan.
Gabriel whistles through the woods. He comes to a road and a walker eating a person. He strolls casually toward it. “I’m ready!” he holds his arms out and the walker advances on him. Is he testing his faith, his resolve, or is he suicidal? The walker has a noose. At the last minute Gabriel grabs it and uses it to rip the walker’s head off. With a rock, he finishes him off. Then he goes over and puts the partially eaten victim out of his misery. He falls in the road, sobbing.
While Gabriel goes fetal, Abraham brings some flowers for Tara at the makeshift doctor’s office. Rosita is inside and Eugene is next to the bed. Abe sees him and turns to go before Rosita points out that Eugene is asleep. Abe quietly approaches and sits down without making a peep. Rosita not so subtly drops a pan on the ground, waking up Eugene. These bros have to talk at some point. Eugene tells Abraham that Tara saved his life, and made him realize that Abraham is the reason they got to Alexandria. And he apologizes. Abraham apologizes also.
Spencer opens the gate for a dazed Gabriel. He tells Gabriel that he needs someone to talk to about Aiden, and then asks Gabriel to close the gate. Gabriel, being an asshat, throws it closed and it promptly bounces back open again as he walks away.
Back out in the woods, Nicholas is trying to find Glenn. He comes across a walker instead. When he shoots it, Glenn takes the opportunity to attack. They tussle on the ground while a walker advances. Nicholas bails and the walker falls on Glenn. Oh shit no!
Michonne shows up to collect Rick for the meeting. He comes clean about the guns they took and offers Michonne his gun. He admits to her that he was afraid that she would talk him out of his plan. She tells him that she’s with him. They don’t need weapons. They can find a way to coexist, and if not, they still don’t need weapons. He offers her his gun again. She pushes it back and tells him not to be long.
Rick sits and thinks back to what Bob said about adapting to a nightmare (“nightmares end”). He puts the gun in his pants and looks out the window. He sees the open gate and goes running for it. He notices that a walker has rubbed up against the lock and follows the blood trail.
Gabriel goes to his church and finds Sasha waiting for him. “Can you help me?” she asks. “No,” he says. “I think I want to die,” Sasha finally admits. Gabriel shames her. And tells her she should want to be dead for the things they’ve done. He tells her that Bob died because of her. That Tyreese was just as guilty as anyone. That none of them deserve to be there. She slams him against the wall and yells, “STOP IT! STOP IT! STOP IT!”
Everyone’s arrived for the meeting and waiting but Rick’s a no show. Deanna says they’re going to start anyway. She wants to talk about how Rick stole a gun, how he waved it at everyone, and what he said. Rick’s friends try to reassure her that Rick will be there. Carol puts on her friendly face and assures Deanna that they can work it out.
Speaking of Rick, he’s running around looking for a walker (basically doing his job). He finds it—or more precisely—it finds him. As he fights with it, and another one, all these events happen concurrently: Michonne pleads his case at the meeting, as does Carol, as does Abraham. Sasha struggles with Gabriel in the church. Glenn knocks out Nicholas in the woods. Finally Rick shoves his gun up into a walker’s head (like literally UP INTO it’s head, I guess to act as a silencer) and blows its brains out, showering himself in blood.
We cut away from all these familiar scenes to see some new people: two guys with the man in the red poncho. They talk about resetting the trap and then one of the men turns to the man in the red poncho, slits his throat, and says “welcome home.” So there’s that.
Back at the meeting, the defense for Rick is finishing their case with a testimony from Maggie. She speaks of Rick as a father, doing the things he has to do to take care of his family. Rick started that family and he won’t stop protecting it, nor do you want him to. Deanna speaks up. She tells them what Gabriel told her and then less than 24 hours later Rick did exactly what Gabriel warned about. Jessie points out that Gabriel isn’t there to verify what she’s saying. Maggie leaves to get him.
Out in the woods, Glenn is still kicking Nicholas’ ass. “Noah died because of you! And I tried to tell you how it is, how it has to be! AND YOU TRIED TO KILL ME?!” Then he points the gun at Nicholas’ head while he cries. This is juxtaposed with Sasha, still in the church, pointing her gun at Father Gabriel’s head.
The bad guys that set the trap pull a remote and click on music (Brian Wilson’s Love and Mercy—a classic) inside the trucks. The walkers shuffle toward it.
Back at the meeting Tobin is saying that if keeping his family safe means that they need to get rid o—Rick shows up right then. Covered in blood, carrying a walker. He throws it down in the middle of the meeting.
Cut to Nicholas pleading for his life. “I was scared, I don’t belong out here!” Glenn yells at him to shut up and then pulls his gun from his head, slumping to the ground next to him. Likewise, Sasha is advancing on Gabriel. “Do it!” he says. Maggie walks in just then. A crying Sasha hands over her rifle. “You should let her,” Gabriel cries. “They died. They all died because of me.” “They did,” Maggie says while giving him her hand and helping him up.
At the meeting, Rick is laying down the law. Chastising them for not being vigilant. They will always get in, he says. The dead and the living, as long as they’re in there. While he delivers his monologue we see Glenn helping Nicholas back to town, Carl taking care of Judith, Glenn, Maggie, and Gabriel in a prayer circle, Tara waking up, and the bad guys finishing up the trap and going through Aaron’s dropped bags, including his photos of Alexandria.
Rick is finishing up. “We’ll survive. I’ll show you how. I was thinking, ‘How many of you do I have to kill to save your lives?’ But I’m not gonna do that. You’re gonna change. I’m not sorry for what I said last night, I’m sorry for not saying it sooner. You’re not ready, but you have to be. RIGHT NOW. You have to be. Luck runs out.” To prove this point, Pete stumbles in drunk and angry with Michonne’s sword. Rick reaches for his gun but Carol shakes him off. When Reg tries to stop Pete he shoves him away, slicing his throat open. Abraham subdues Pete while Reg bleeds to death. Rick looks to Deanna, who’s holding Reg as he dies. An anguished Deanna looks at Rick. “DO IT.” Rick does not hesitate. He turns, aims, and fires. Not one second later a horrified Morgan says, “Rick?” Rick stares at Morgan like, “Uhhh….” AAAAAND END!
PSYCH! Post-credits scene! Here’s what happens if you missed it: Michonne cleans her sword off and goes to hang it up, but just as she’s about to leave it, she reconsiders, puts it back in the sheath, and throws it over her shoulder. You’re never safe in this world. And finally, we cut back to the trap. Undead red poncho man shuffles past a car that was not there before with writing on the side:
WOLVES NOT FAR
AAAAAND ACTUAL END!
The Wolves and the W foreheads are tied together! Or so I’m assuming that’s the meaning of that ending. What do you guys think? Was that Davidson, the ejected Alexandrian looking at photos of his former home? Or did he seem to not recognize it?
Did everything happen that you thought would? Did you cry and scream like Norman Reedus predicted?
Reg was the flipping best, the nicest, most sane, logical person there (even if he did put the wall supports on the wrong side) and that mother dick Pete had to slit his throat.
I legitimately thought Glenn was going to die. And I half thought Daryl was going to die. But everyone made it out alive. Well, except old sore throat Reg. And ass hat Pete. And red poncho sucker. But our crew is intact and probably healthier now than before. Abe and Eugene are talking again. Tara is up. Sasha and Gabriel are finding spiritual forgiveness. Daryl is realizing that he’s an actual good person with actual friends. Deanna is telling Rick to kill people. Everything’s great! I mean, until The Wolves show up. Oh and Morgan. Rick has some explaining to do to Mr “Every Life is Precious.”
But it is going to be a loooooong six months before we learn how they’ll smooth that over. In the meantime, though, you have FEAR THE WALKING DEAD to look forward to!
Team TWD.com (aka Brian and Lizzy) will pick a comment that is so great, it deserves the SUPER CRAZY FINALE PRIZE PACK below, and post the winner later this week! The pack includes a signed SDCC exclusive The Walking Dead #129, a Series 6 Rick action figure from Season 5 (see what we did there?), a Michonne shirt, a set of Skybound Minis, and one of our awesome keychains!
UPDATE: AND THE WINNER IS… Panbot, whose sentence, “Seeing Rick finish him like a cheesecake was pure joy,” is going to be Brian’s next tattoo. Though he doesn’t know that yet… sssshhhh! Anyway, congrats, Panbot, you win the prize pack!
We also have two HONORABLE MENTIONS: Flashy and Zimovskij both pointed out that Red Poncho Guy was a TWD homage to little red riding hood. Because Wolves! We totally missed this and thought it was a pretty cool plant, so we’re gonna send you both a little something for spotting it!! Congrats!
Wow, what a show! Can all of the episodes be 90 minutes long? That was awesome and I was so freaked out by the group seemingly in mortal peril nearly the whole time and I am so wore out!!! Screaming, tears, cheers, whispering, gasping, all emotions in one show! LOVED IT!
If they would leave all the commercials out we could have a full hour of real show.
Oh my god the fan girl in me is freaking the fudge out! The Walking Dead just keeps getting better and better! I was on the edge of my seat the entire episode… Anyone else thinking that even at 90 minutes it wasn’t enough? Bring on the 2 hour episodes!! Definitely had some tears and fears going on tonight lol 😀
Loved the ending – didn’t really need Kleenex like Norman thought but it was, as Cudlitz said, extremely satisfying. They’ve paused at a stable enough point and are left with a looot of material to work with for season 6 🙂 I’m glad no one important died, was really worried for Glenn for a minute back there but that’s for another episode I guess… 😛 S6 premiere is going to be epic if it’s going to be ‘No Way Out’
This episode is truly my favorite episode. 1) Because I love Morgan, besides my main character Rick. 2) Because so many good/bad things happen. 3) BAD ASS version of Rick is coming back in full swing. From the start, Morgan is what catches my attention, what a great way to bring fans closer to the television. Morgan fights his way out of his situation because he’s so awesome. Rick talks to the group, basically telling them he’s the boss…which should have been established in the first place (DUH). Rick, yet again, kills a man in cold blood when given the order, which Morgan see’s and is caught of guard when he recognizes Rick. Glenn is fighting Nicholas, getting the chance to kill Nicholas but doesn’t. I’m pretty sure Rick would kill Nicholas, and most likely will…unless Nicholas gets to join the Wolves….which would a scary thought due to his urgent need to kill Glenn. The Wolves are around the corner, if not already at the front door, Sasha should have killed Gabriel, or better yet, let Rick do it! There are too many possibilities to discuss in one comment, feel free to add to my post and fill me in on your ideas for the next season!!
P.S. The wait for Morgan was worth it!! Keeping me a loyal fan is obviously a simple task for you Robert Kirkman/AMC
Ahhh, AMC, you dirty bastards, making us think that everyone we love was going to die! Pretty brilliant misdirection, I must say. This was the BEST finale, by far, of the whole series. For the entire 90 minutes, my heart was in my throat and I may have wet myself once or twice. Okay, three times, but whatever. Everything was just SO well done— the walker kills were pretty off-the-chain-insane, and the ending was so damn satisfying! Sayonara, Pete, ya wifebeating alcoholic assclown! Seeing Rick finish him like a cheesecake was pure joy. And so, so glad to have Morgan back!! My only concern is Glenn— did he get bit??
That’s exactly what I was thinking, did Glenn get bit? I have a bad feeling that’s how they’re going to open season, with Glenn coming home to Alexandria to say goodbye to Maggie and the crew because he’s been bitten.
I’m still shaking from all the feels! Screaming, crying, palpitations, sighs of relief when our “family” stays intact except for some blood, bumps and bruises. Sad for the long wait but excited for Fear The Walking Dead. Comment of the night from my 11 yr old daughter “Party Walkers in the House Tonight!”
Best episode! Extremely satisfying! I went into it thinking I was going to not watch anymore after tonight because so many recent episodes have gotten me frustrated and confused. I don’t like especially drawn-out situations because I lose interest, i.e. Tyrese’s death. It’s times like that I’ll skip several episodes then catch up. This one, however, was totally worth the build-up. Many loose ends came together with just enough foreshadowing to go into season 6. I couldn’t have asked for a better finale! Thank you, AMC and TWD!
Awesome episode! Morgan is British!!!!! lol
HAPPY BIRTHDAY SCOTT WILSON!!!!! XOXOXO
Let me just say, thank you. Thank you Robert Kirkman and Scott Gimple for not showing us Morgan and then ripping our hearts out by immediately taking him away. I was prepared for it, but I did not want to be!! So thank you XOXO!
I am such a big fan and i was on the edge of my seat today. I thought that maybe Glenn or Aaron were going to die and i am glad that no one died. It is hard going to have to wait until later this year to see the next season but i can’t wait until the first season of Fear the walking dead comes on. I am also so glad that Morgan is around now.
I have to say, Abraham has a way with words. When Glenn had that gun pointed at Nicholas, I was yelling for him to pull the trigger. Then, when he didn’t, it made perfect sense. It’s just not Glenn, and now Nicholas will turn into a productive member of Alexandria. It’s cool that someone that’s been through so much can still keep hold of what he believes in. Glenn just isn’t a cold blooded killer, and he can still manage to hold onto who he is. The best scene had to be when Rick, covered in blood, walked over to the meeting, and plopped the zombie down onto the ground. The look on everyone’s face was priceless.
With a season like this one, I’d expect nothing less than a fantastic finale & of course, the show delivered! It’s the one thing we can predict. I am so ready for Season 6!
Morgan kicks ass!!
One word sums up TWD finale.. AWESOOOOME!! Ok one longextended extended word.
Seeing Reg go, all I can say was… I told you! Come on, Reg was the show’s version of Regina, its in their names, too! I knew this was how the season would end, with the Pete situation coming to a close and he beginning of Alexandria having Rick as the leader. At this rate, the herd, if they decide to use that situation, should open the next season! I can’t wait!
Sweet Finish… Can’t wait for next season
Morgan=Donatello
Morgan = … TV JESUS (???)
just a thought
I absolutely LOVED it!! I was on the edge of my seat the whole time because of Norman’s little prediction, but extremely happy that no harm came to one of our own. And Morgan….how awesome is that to have him back. This finale was very satisfying. Normally, I am disappointed at the end of a season, I think that this season did a pretty good job staying in line with the comics. It will be exciting to see what Season 6 has in store, although, I think we’re being groomed for a real bad a** on the horizon.
really love this show started watching from season 1 right up to this season all in 1 week show i was ready for season, but when I thought Glenn got killed off I was ready to quit watching.I would really love to be the person who win this prize pack. THE WALKING DEAD FOREVER
i would love if carol had killed pete
why didnt glen kill butthole dude.. i mean it is just going to make butthole do something to some 1 else
happy birthday hershel!!!!!!!!!!!!!! sitll miss u on show
By far the best finale yet. My daughter got me into this show and I’ve been hooked from the first episode.. l can’t wait for October…
Now that’s the way to do a finale! TWD knocked it out of the park tonight. I spent the 1st hour laughing at one liners & the last 30 mins screaming at the TV! We came full circle this year & didn’t lose one member of the Grimes Family this episode & that’s a great night for me. Only complaint was Reg dying at the hands of douche bag Pete but he got his. Best season so far & can’t wait for Oct. & Fear The Walking Dead too. WTG! Whoop
“These people are children. Children like stories.”
Simply put there is a vast ocean of shit that you people don’t know shit about.Rick knows every fine grain of said shit, and then some. AWESOME FINALE!
Totally thought the finale was going to no way out.
This episode should of been titled “Porchdick strikes back!” Other than that, awesome episode!
Oh man what a great episode! For real this was the best finale ever, keep up the great work guys
Thank you AMC, The creator Frank Darabont, Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore and Charlie Adlard, Greg Nicotero, Scott Gimple and all the other producers and directors involved! This season finale was, at least in my opinion, THE BEST episode in a long time. The range of emotions this episode gave rise to was nothing short of a long roller-coaster ride. The spot-on acting, the use of carefully placed set props and back drops, as well as the over the top, great walker make up and the people behind the walkers, made for a great show. This along with the deeply meaningful storyline and well written script is exactly why I watch every single episode and read everything I can relating to TWD. In my life I have watched countless TV shows and series, and truthfully nothing has come close to the intensity I have found in TWD. I commend everyone who has a hand in the making of this iconic, destined to be a classic series. KUDOS to you all!
Oh, I did want to add that I am wondering if Glenn happened to get bit during his scuffle with walkers? And I was sad that Nicholas didn’t get left for a walker buffet, but then Glenn wouldn’t do that. But I would’ve!
Wow what can I say! There are no words to describe how awesome tonight’s episode was. This was the best season finale since the show started. With every scene I was glued to the tv wondering what was going to happen next.I was so worried for Aaron and Daryl praying that they would not become a zombie buffet then wouldn’t you know it here comes Ninja Morgan to save them both. Then poor Glenn getting shot had my heart in my throat hoping that are beloved friend would not meet his end and all the while I’m thinking that Deanna was calling the meeting of the residents to tell them that she was going to banish Rick. It was sad to see poor Reg receiving the brunt of Pete’s crazy temper but karma came swift for Pete who I hate to say deserved it. The only disappointment I have with tonight’s episode is that the sorry,no good, back stabbing Father Gabriel didn’t meet his maker. Other then that all I can say is awesome job writers. You all are the reason why this show is so great and keep up the good work!
Deanna is back on Team Ricktatorship
I could never forget that line! “Rick, do it.”
I love this fuckin show!!! Hands down the best show on television. I can’t wait for the companion series Fear The Walking Dead to start, because that’ll mean, not only do we get to see a new version of TWD universe, but as soon as its over season six begins. I have a bad feeling Glenn was bitten, and that he’s coming home to Alexandria to say goodbye to Maggie and the crew to start season six.
“This is juxtaposed with Sasha, still in the church, pointing her fun at Father Gabriel’s head.” – pointing her FUN at Father Gabriel? I know it is a typo but keep it… I am going to use that line some way some how. ha
.
Rick… so is it now going to be a requirement he go all bloody face for each of his moving speeches to the Alexandrians? Nothing like adding a sense of atmosphere by wearing others blood on your face when you mention that you were thinking of having to kill a few of them to save the rest. And then had a change of heart…? A *sigh* of relief can almost be heard from the Alexandrians. ha
.
Carol… you are officially my favorite character now. I had a few before… but you are only seconded by Daryl now. What a power couple you will be. Your children will be Gods!
.
Maggie and Glenn a double headed coin. Same either way you flip it. Both showing they know how to take the fallen and bring them back into a useful person. In this world Walkers out number you so be sure when you kill a non-Walker that it is needed and not just an emotional necessity.
.
Morgan… truthfully after his intro before the opening title… I dropped my remote and was satisfied at that very moment. Had they ended it there… and gave us just the 5 minute intro only, I couldn’t have complained. Though obviously after seeing the rest later I was even more satisfied. One of the best episodes in a long time. Goes to show you that you don’t need to kill off a major character to shock people and keep them on your toes.
.
Reedus you said there would be tears and there almost was, tears of joy! I let out a loud audible exclamative “Yheeesssss!” when Rick plugged Pete… and knew that Deanna had basically given him the community to run as he felt needed.
.
Next season opening with the the Wolves closing in on Alexandria? I can’t wait!!!!!
Definitely do NOT screw with Carol, Pookie or Sunshine.
Can I get one of these with Eugene in it?
Carol has not given him a cute nickname though!
It’s coming! Right after Glenn!
Hmm… Something to do with the flowers…
Never used Cray Cray term before, but this Finale was Cray Cray! Now I have to wait months for more! Yikes! Best season yet is an understatement! Only question I have is, did Darryl shoot Pete or was that shot at Reg? Is that the twist episode 1 will have for us? I tip my hat to writers and Director, WELL DONE!
Daryl didn’t shoot anyone, RJ’s Dad
Such a great episode! I have to say though was that a red poncho or a red riding hood? He was probably just delivering cookies to Granny when the wolves grabbed him. 🙂
Sinseriously this was the BEST finale! I definitely need to to take my Xanax before watching! I was cheering, clapping, gasping, tearing up, & literally on the edge of my bed. Thank you TWD writers, cast, & crew for giving me the greatest thrill ride. This finale beat out any roller coaster I’ve ever been on! Looking forward to next season.
Loved it. And Norman was right, I did scream and cry just not in the way I thought I would. Cried when Morgan presented the map to Daryl. Screamed with laughter when Carol called Rick Sunshine, screamed with joy at the chain to the walker heads kill … glad I wasn’t screaming or crying about a main character death. Can’t wait for S6 and the Wolves.
Also loved the red poncho as a literal “red shirt”
I noticed this: Red poncho – little red riding hood. Wolves!
Omg wow what a finale!! It stuck pretty close to the comics except with charcter switch around. I loved how they went back for carols death in the comics and turned it to father gabriel but ultimately he didn’t go through with it. I also liked how he put the half ate man out of his misery. Morgan showing up was the ultimate bonus for me. Finally! Rick taking over was beautiful and done right to bad it took Deanna losing reg to realize rick was right all along. The wolves set up was wonderful I don’t think they were the exiled ones I do wanna know what it’s gonna be like when they get to alexendria and see morgan the man who beat them with a stick and left for dead but should have finished off, that will be good. I also like how michionne decided to keep her Katina she needs it. Great ending.
I wanted to say that the season finale was great. I am truly looking forward to next season. I was worried about Daryl, Rick, and Glenn. I am glad that the outcome for each of them turn out the way that it did. I am also really excited to see more of Morgan. I think that it will be interesting to see what happens with the way that Alexandria functions as a community after this episode.
Wow great finale. I love the show and had me in suspense all the way from sunny Blackpool in the UK. Id to win a prize and especially from my fav prog of all time. Ive battled homlesness, drinking problems and depression. Would make me smile if i won something for once.
Cant wait for season 6?
You can judge how tragic this is but as I’m in Australia firstly I have to wait a couple days for the latest episode to be available (I know there are other ways but I have been caught before) and I have to pay $50 for the season for that privilege. Yet I still find myself coming here and reading the recap before I have a chance to see it for myself. I need a new hobby (or maybe I don’t)
Sorry to hear that… I am now neighboring you over in the Philippines. And they get Walking Dead same as air in US but in the morning here. And then we get to see it replayed again in prime time. And on the same channel we get the entire second half of the season played in order leading up to the prime time playing.
Though other shows are delayed by a week sometimes longer. Marvel Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is about 2 weeks late I think? But Walking Dead is important and gets same as air sowing. 😀
I need a Morgan action figure, complete with removable mask, that kickass staff, a twinkle in his eyes, & that infectious smile!
How did the Wolves completely destroy Noah’s town, and kill everyone? They don’t even have any ammo? Plus, it’s only two guys!
We may not be seeing all of the Wolves… and if we are, they are very handy with traps. We also don’t know how the Shirewilt people were… they could’ve been just like Alexandria & caught completely unaware.
That one guy didn’t have ammo. It doesn’t mean the others don’t. Any people who can rig up the zombie/truck trap have resources and ingenuity. I thought the wolves were going to be a build up to a one episode (finale) appearance but with this much build up, the group must be the new season six baddies. And now I think Wolves are actually the (Spoiler) group led by (Spoiler). Ha, is it a spoiler for anyone at this point?
I wanted that episode to be three hours long even though I feel satisfied with how it ended up. Not just satisfied; but more like happy and content for the time being.
Everytime I wonder what direction the show will go next and how I will like it, I am always pleased with the choices made by the show.
Love the storyline with the 2 guys with W’s on their foreheads and their trap at the canned food factory. Perfect place to set a trap as I’m sure that place looks like heaven to other survivors.
I also continue to be impressed with the character development of Rick, Carol, and Daryl. The show is so cinematic and so well done it is like watching a short movie each week (which I don’t do often enough with having 2 kids).
I don’t know where they will go next season or what will happen, but I just know I will love it and the show will make the right choices and continue to be great.
Bravo to a great season. Hard to think it all started at Terminus. That seems ages ago!
Thought for a minute Daryl was done for – thought he was gonna be a hero and get taken out so Aaron lived… sooo glad that wasn’t the deal.
Rick is back on top – love that. Love how his family rallies around him – love that D.Monroe finally saw the light.
Really wish Sasha smoked Gabrielle – that dude is a cluster-fuck if I even saw one. What a useless, incompetent ass. Eugene is no longer the least useful person on the show… go figure.
Carol is the hands-down baddest character on any show ever!!!!!!
Glen shoulda smoked that dude – hope he did not get bitten – jury is out on that till next season I guess.
The Wolves – at least for now turned out to be pretty inconsequential. I know it was their introduction – but they failed to impress. Morgan made quick work of em…their trap didn’t yield anything with the trailer rigs… couple more crazy dudes in the woods who couldn’t handle Morgan – how are they gonna deal with Rick and Co.??
Anyhow, Thanks again for the best show on TV!!!!!
Although … I hate the off season – then the mid-season break… so not fair – I’d be obliged with 52 90 minute episodes a year – run it like a soap opera … always on LOL
The Walking Dead is by far the best show on television. I’ve watched shows where after the 2nd or 3rd season I start to lose interest because of mediocre storylines and no character development. With each new season of The Walking Dead I come back even more excited than what I was before. Each season is better than the previous. The writers and producers and everyone involved with the show have found a way to keep the show entertaining and enjoyable. And the visual effect team is superb as well. I have yet to see a walker on the show the doesn’t look real. I can’t wait for the companion series. I hope Fear The Walking Dead is on when The Walking Dead is on hiatus so we get to watch walkers all year.
And on a side note: My mother and I don’t watch any of the same shows. The Walking Dead is the only show we both watch so it gives us something to bond over. She’ll point out things I might have missed and I’ll point out things she might have missed. Every Monday we email back and forth talking about what happened during the episode and what we think will happen on the next episode. Daryl is our favorite character so we even bought matching Daryl keychains. We can’t wait for Fear The Walking Dead and season 6 of The Walking Dead!!
First of all, thank you Brian and Lizzy for giving us a chance for this kind of giveaway.☺️ I really love season 5 of The Walking Dead. ❤️ Because it is a mix of action and mystery. I’ve been watching The Walking Dead since season 1 and I can say I am really a fan. It has season 5 already but I’m still anticipating it, watching each episode and waiting for 6 months for another season. And I can say it is all worth it. In this episode of walking dead which is episode 16 of season 5, my heart rate is through the roof

Great episode that had everyone worried about a few key characters in danger. A lot of parallels to the comic for the most part. No surprises there. I was glad to see Glen get out of his pile on, it would be a disappointment not to see him meet Lucielle somewhere in season 7 or 8. I am still not sure if these “wolves” are the scavengers or the trio they exiled from Alexandria. Was the woman on the tree the third of the group? It’s been a while too but I thought Davidson was killed in the comic. It will be a long summer, hopefully “Fear TWD” isnt a let down. Looking forward to seeing season 6 bring in some more story arcs from the comics. Morgan & Michonne anyone?
Until October

Great finally! !! I am so glad Morgan is back I think he will bring Rick back to earth bring them all together. I think meggie will become the new preacher like her father and Morgan will help with it (all life is precious) the head lady is gonna go mad.
By far my favorite season finale of The Walking Dead. Morgan made a last-minute appearance and it makes me happy AND excited for the next season (6 months guys, we can do it). We can’t forget about the number of plot twists in this episode. Michonne and Deanna jumping back aboard on Team Rick, Glenn not killing (and guiding) Nicholas, Reg’s sudden death (really did not see that coming), Maggie, Sasha and Father Gabriel’s spiritual recreation, and of course, the Morgan-saves-Daryl-and-Aaron scene. Favorite Daryl moment was probably the head-slaying one with the chain where he brought down 3 walkers. Thought Glenn was gonna die, though. Anyways, so glad I did not need a Kleenex and I cannot wait for season 6!
Daryl had me thinking of Ghost Rider with that chain!
i know they are two completely independent characters, but Morgan was throwing out some Jesus-esq kung fu, REINCARNATION???
Ok. Excellent. Yelled out “NO NOT_______” many times. Poor Reg. Running with katanas like running with scissors.
And can someone tell me how Gabriel came away without a drop of blood or guts on that white sweatshirt? Is this implying some kind of divine intervention/Scotch Guard?
Watched it & Talking Dead 3 times(?) in a row. Kinda nuts but hey… A little overdose/marathon is understandable given the long time til season 6.
Best episode ever in all 5 seasons. It had it all. Now to wait 6 1/2 – 7 months for season 6. I might be able to breathe by then.
Am I the only one that was a bit ehh about this episode? I’m not afraid to say this since I have a prediction. Overall it was a matte finish finale. Morgan making it home was very cool. Then there was just a general advancement of the story. This leads to my prediction. Season 6 is going to be a high octane shit storm! Can’t wait. Fear The Walking Dead is making me so happy. I need my TWD TV Universe uninterrupted.
Wow, Great episode and great write up.
Maggie is really taking on a leadership role. If Ric is the dad of the group, then Maggie is the groups mom.
What is wrong with Glen? following that dude outside the wall for what?
Interesting how this show appeals to us in different ways. My wife tells me this morning that she can’t get the show out of here head. I agree and state the wolves are out there and coming for Alexandria. She, disagreed and started talking about how the group and alexandria were going to integrate.
The wolves are scary. one thing to take peoples stuff. but it gets creepy when you start making your victims trophies by carving a W in their head. and setting up traps. I guess the sociopaths really shine in the post apocalypse world.
*Might contain spoilers*
Even though the ending was somewhat subtle, it was one of the best season finales that I have seen for The Walking Dead. I was hoping that Fr. Gabriel was going to get the ax but those cliffhangers such as Glenn getting shot or Daryl and Aaron getting trapped or Nicholas was getting the bullet in the head or thinking that Maggie was about to kill Gabriel were heart stopping. In the end though, I think this season was all about the transformation of Carol becoming more and more manipulator even though she always stood behind the scene.
The Wolves are interesting to say the least, was Morgan tracking them or tracking Rick’s group. And what was written on the map that he showed to Daryl. It was super quick that I didn’t have time to read it.
So many questions left unanswered though – who is the guy in the red poncho? what happen to Aaron’s boyfriend Eric? What’s going on with Sasha? Is Tara ok after waking up? is Eugene being brave permanent? Are Abraham and Rosita together or just friends? Or how about Daryl and Carol? And what will Morgan say now to Rick after Rick shot Pete? And who is the real leader of Alexandria – Deanna or Rick? Guess have to wait six months to find out the answer.
Oh and would any of the characters have a cameo in Fear The Walking Dead?
First off, this episode embodies every aspect of great storytelling and the entire team involved just nailed it. We saw character development for almost every person on the show and the intensity of it was fantastic. So much can be said about this one episode, it may never end.
“Rick. Do it” and no hesitation from Rick, THAT is the Walking Dead.
Can someone please figure that out in-world and turn those walls around; with the added bonus of fixing the easy climb issue so they aren’t just flipping access styles? ;~; Like, Glenn may be? The wolves can just storm the place any ol’ time, and I’m not there, so I can’t help. I wanna see people live, and grow strong, and alter cultural things to include the new deadite factor in everyday life past just funeral rites. Also, it’d be nice if they built a moat. 12×12, concrete lined, with variegated broken glass layer added while wet. Also, put some spikes in for a 3D net of razor wire, top to bottom, wall to wall. Then fill it with flammable liquid. A metal drawbridge or two would match the decor. Get some more watch towers, and outfit the new outer wall layer with some concreted/tarred on variegated broken glass there too. Razor wire the upper level (and I’d slip in some razor edge that isn’t immediately visible, just to prevent that whole throw-this-over-and-dive factor). It wouldn’t hurt to start training everyone in combat. That would be a fun fun-and-games episode. :3 I’d watch all the newbs squirm. 😀 But it would be nice if Alexandria had a real shot to rise instead of just getting sacked to grind things in more. Its not much of a down without a mirrored up, right? (says the king of downward spirals, but still ;3 ) Okay, I’ve ranted. I’ll keep watching anyway. XD Looking forward to the next season! Please keep up the good work, TWD folks! :3 You make me happy.
It’s been a while since I liked an episode like this one. Keep on working like this because there are people who love your what you’re doing. For me this is a teach on how to live in these situations.
Ok, how cool was that walker trap?
I just have to have one of those.
Excellent episode. Easy to keep the viewer excited. Morgan showing up in the beginning of an episode, and introduces the wolves to the audience. Rick determined to protect Alexandria, no matter what. Daryl and Aaron “walking” into the trap, and both guys willing to sacrifice themselves for one another. No problem guys – Morgan will lead you to freedom.I thought Glenn might be dead… However, he shows Nicholas how a real man behaves in the new world. Sasha at the point of giving up with a zombie slumber party. Gabriel trying to commit suicide, and failing again. Maggie working to bring both Sasha and Gabriel back to reality. Tara waking up, Eugene and Abraham talking it out. Pete casting the deciding vote in Rick’s favor by killing Deanna’s husband. Deanna may understand the new world rules now – see ya Pete!
Hate to say it, but 90 minutes was worth it!!!
Amazing episode.
Some scenes were panels from the comic.
Some scenes were original for the show.
But overall it was something that no other show could do, it stayed true to the comics whilst showing some diversity.
It left us wondering for season 6; which will be yet another season to remember if they do what they did with season 5.
The episode let me know where Alexandria safe zone is at.
They are starting to see ricks point of view and they will pick up on it soon.
Reg will be remembered and Pete will be forgotten.
The show is taking an amazing turn and is morphing into something phenomenal, it was already great before, but just from this episode I see it’s getting better.
And to those who want Richonne moments as well as Caryl moments, oh sunshine, you don’t get both.
Morgan is back!!!
And better than ever from the looks of it, I hope he becomes a big part of the show, just like Rick and Daryl.
I cannot wait until season 6 of the walking dead, for more storylines that take the viewers breath away.
Well done AMC.
As well as Robert Kirkman, The writers, the directors, the make-up artists, the stunt doubles, the camera men and best of all, the cast.
Hear hear !
(Very English of me, I know)
Well, I wanted to know what The Walking Dead was going to make creepy after flowers and cookies. And, turns out, it was the letter ‘W’ and the phrase, ‘Be Still!’ *Shudders* Thanks for the nightmares!
I loved this episode, and Morgan was just so cool throughout. 😀
I don’t know how I could survive 7 months without TWD TV show. Sure we have the comics but what good are they when they come out only once a month!? This is going to be a very painful 7 months to wait out!
At least they aren’t trapped in a train car this time
FUCK! Why do you have to be such a positive moral compass Morgan! That’s never a good sign
Rip red poncho man
Well: I think that this episode was one of the best of all seasons in The walking Dead!
There was so much suspense inin sosome scenes, even in the first, when that guy found Morgan and tried to kill him. My favourite scene is the one that shows Sasha trying to kill that evil and surely not good person: Father Gabriel. I swear, if I were Sasha I’ll immediately pull the trigger and smash his bald head, remaining only the ears and making a necklace with that. And I think that Maggie would hehelp me in doing it.
Deanna in this episode changed a lot, for example: before Rick has arrkived with the dead walker, she was like “I’m going to exile this sheriff, even if I know that he is all this people need!”. Then, after that Pete killed his beloved husband, she changed her mind: “Kill that man, Rick! Feed the walkers with his flesh! Smash every part of him but the head, because I just want to play football with it!”
II think that Glenn could save his shoulder if instead of chasing that useless man called Nicholas, he would simply alert Deanna of his escape. I think that if that happened she will rapidly send some soldiers to catch him and he will get back home or get bitten by a lovely walker. (Yeah I think that in situations like this walkers can become the most useful thing).
I even think that what Michonne did is very good for the group, because the alexandrians naturally would think that she is on their side, but at the moment, she will make them understand that they’re screwing with the wrong people!
And what about Sam, Jessie’s son?? I didn’t see him in this episode. Oh God, that kid has been bullied by Carol the KIDnapper! But I have an idea of where he could be in the reunion evening: maybe he was in his garage, eating tons of biscuits and destroying owls!!!
Well, I conclude by saying that I cannot wait 6 months before the 6th season!!
WHY SO LONG!!!
I sort of had to laugh at Deanna’s reaction. “There will be no killing here” at least, of course, until it involved her directly and then all her political sensibilities went out the window and it was “Do it!”. Just what the apocalyptic world needs – a politician at the helm.
Her husband, Reg, seemed to be a sensible stabilizing influence on her so if she remains in charge I am not hopeful for common sense decision making that applies to the new world dynamic. Fortunately, Rick’s approach prevailed and “Conquer”ed her!
Until I see Glenn safely inside the gates, well, you know …
So I get the feeling that these wolves that are so good with traps might just attack with some unreal number of zombies…can’t wait to see how this plays out. For now I’ll be still…
In 512 “Remember”, Deanna stated that 3 MEN were exiled. In the finale, Aaron told Daryl that it was 2 men, 1 woman. Anybody else catch this?
Maybe she’s just genderblind, equality at its finest
Maybe it was one of those chicks like I saw in the public bathroom the other day… the kind that had me backing up out of the door to double check the sign.
It’s so cool when the show follows the comic!
i liked the rick do it it just made me supper happy i am a bid fan of the comic
How am I just logging in for these contests now? Urghhh . Yipes i better watch the Walker noises..:).
Finally taking the time to read the comic. Hopefully i can get all caught up by October. October…sooooo far away. Feels like the Wolves are closer, and though we met em in the end of S5 im already keeping an eye out for em now heading into Compendium 2.
And Morgan..Rick..theyre long lost brothers. Its all good in the Alexandria Hood..well cept for the constant threat of doom :).
Very thorough recap! 90 minute episode chock-full of different story lines — yes, please!!! But you did leave out one major plot point — we FINALLY see Eugene wearing long pants!! This is a first and I can’t wait to see what it means for his character development!
Pure Awesomeness!!!
Nice finale! I have been curious to see if they plan to take Rick down a darker path. I almost thought they were settings things up for Rick to become the Negan-level villain. Could be still. Can’t wait to see if the Wolves are the Saviors or merely a prelude for major struggles yet to come.
Anyone remember who hears that Pete’s execution in the comic? There is a reason Derek is not a feared walking dead villain and I have a feeling these Wolves are about to be put down cold.
Season 6 prediction: Wolves to walkers to Jesus to Hilltop security gig to Savior execution to Lucille the thirsty bitch; and that’s only gonna be the first eight episodes
I’m so sad to see that the finale episode is already over (I don’t like waiting !) but in a same time I’m so glad to see that Morgan is back and Glenn alive ** I was so stressed when Glenn went after this fucking douchebag Nicholas, and I really thought that my favorite character will die and comeback like a walker in Alexandria because of the open door (Gabriel dumbass…) I imagine so many things in my mind, like the reactions of the group, and I really thought that something like that will happened… I thought that seing Glenn killed by a member of Deanna team will created a real war into the walls of the city. I thought that after seing that, Rick couldn’t control himself anymore and take Alexandria leadership… But Glenn should died like a hero and not because of… A douchebag, so thanks god ! He is not dead ^^ and he is still the good guy.
If y remember well Glenn killed no human yet, just zombies, and I thought that when he will kill his first living people he will change in a bad way. He will not become evil but he will lost a part of his humanity ; this part who makes Glenn always being the nicest who wants to save and help people like Rick in the first season (without this kindness who knows who Rick will be ? Probably dead in his tank…) But even after seing Noah died in front of his eyes because of Nicholas, even after being shoot by this same guy and almost eaten alive… Glenn didn’t kill this… Thing. I will not lie, behing my TV I shouted to Glenn to kill him ; it was like I really was in the show and wanted to see Nicholas dead body… I can’t just see his face after what he did, after left Aiden, after left Noah… It’s the character that I hated the most ! He si weak, coward, stupid… But anyway, if he makes an other bullshit he will died for sure so… Go to hell Nicholas 🙂 (But I hope we will still see the reactions of all the community after Glenn coming back with a bullet in his shoulder… The explanations, the culpability of Nicholas… I’m still want to see what will happening.) Especially Rick face.
He just killed Pete (and he wanted to do that… Look at his face ! No emotions, no pity…) He just waited the authorization. But for me Rick si not a psyco, he should what he should to do, and he takes no pleasure to kill… He is not like the governor, he takes care of his people, he will not shot someone with no reasons… For me Rick decisions are completely understandable even when he become a little more crazy… Well, these moment are quite scary it’s true, but Rick is not a bad man… He is a survivor… But when I look at the face of Morgan (yesss Morgan **) I thought that the meeting between the two of them will be not full of joy and happiness (fucking end of episode ! I want to see their reunion !) We can say that they have not the same mentality after seing what Rick did, killed Pete just like that because he thought that he should, and noticed that Morgan didn’t kill his assailtants even if they tried to kill him. (Well, these ennemies -the wolves- with their W in the forehead deserved to die because they are bastard… And now I guess that they will attack Alexandria with their zombies group… Is it for that that they keep walkers ? For an attack ? Especially for Alexandria ?) But anymay, I’m more agree with Rick vision and mind, it’s too dangerous to let insane and dangerous people alive… But maybe it’s because the viewers have their own perception and opinion and also because we all seing the show thanks to the eyes of the team of Rick. We follow Rick team journey, we have seen all the horrors that a human can do but we don’t know what Morgan saw and done. The people of the prison, the governor, the terminus… Morgan didn’t live these moments, but in a other way, characters like Glenn who let Nicholas live and Maggie who help Gabriel after what he said show that what they lived don’t explain for all of us their minds and their decisions. So we can say that Morgan is one of the “nicest” ? After all, Morgan is the hero who saved Rick in the beginning of the show and who now saved Daryl and Aaron ass… I really like this character ! I’m glad to see him again ! But now… We should waiting to see the next of The Walking Dead 🙁
(Sorry for the long comment and also for my english… It’s not my native langage !)
This season finale was truly great! I love how fans were so misdirected up until the second half of the episode: how we were kind of led into believing our beloved Daryl, Glenn and possibly Carol would die in the finale. (“Bring tissues…” “There will be screaming and people will be pissed…”) Regardless, the way this storyline unfolded was nothing short of genius. One of the main reasons I love TWD is how we are able to get into the emotions and psychological transformations of each character, a little more deeply with each episode. And the deviations from the comics is just enough to keep those fans entrenched in the TV show, if only to look for those changes. The writers, producers, directors, make-up, costume, set designers, and of course the actors, work seamlessly together to create this unique, deep, wonderful series, which in my opinion is the best television has delivered in many years. Good work and thanks to everyone involved in TWD – MY favorite show!
Carol def was very bad ass… maybe she should have gone Pacino on him when she pulled the knife “say hello to my little friend”. Rick has changed a whole lot from being the responsible dad of the group to the bad ass crazy dude, like he lost his way somewhere in Season 4 with having to deal with loosing so many people… Season one and two he had Dale to be the guiding hand and Season 2 and 3 we had Hershel to bring calm to the storm…. since that the group hasn’t seen a person that brings serenity so maybe that combined with Rick loosing his wife, his daughter for most of Season 4 and then dealing with all the other things decided to final flip his lid and I think this is where Zen Master Morgan may come back in to cool it down before the wolves attack. I love the TWD it is one of the best survivalist shows out there and can’t wait to check out the spin off in the summer, worst case scenario I have six weeks to keep me busy till season 6
I just think it’s great that how when Rick and Morgan first met, Morgan was trying to explain to Rick how the world has changed and when they lost touch and Rick ran back into Morgan, Morgan was losing his mind, and now when Morgan finds Rick this time Rick is the one going crazy… their are SO many parallels between these two characters, Morgan lost his wife, then Rick lost his wife, Morgan lost his son, So lets hope nothing happens to Carl. But back to the parallels, it’s like they keep teaching each other how to live in this world of chaos. And last TWD is the BEST show thats ever been made because it don’t just deal with the horror/zombie aspects, it deals with what type of person would you become in the apocalypse!
The Season 5 Finale Was So Great! Many loose ends were brought together and Morgan showing up to save Daryl & Aaron was awesome. I found it interesting that when we saw Morgan in “Clear” he was making traps to catch walkers & others. Now In “Conquer” he saved them from a trap. At the end the look between Morgan and Rick was intense. Especially since Morgan is so Zen now and Rick is so Shane now. I’m so excited to see what Season 6 will bring & Fear The Walking Dead looks cool too.
So, Morgan is a British guy with a walking stick (who is a little ocd what it comes to getting blood on it) porch dick is finally dead (but Glenn is alive with a bullet wound and no wife beating doctor to fit it), RIP red poncho (and Reg, wtf, sacrifice the guy who can build stuff just as an excuse to knock off Punchy Pete). All good except Father Gabriel is still hanging on by a simpering, pathetic thread.
First, let me just say WOW…what a season!!! And the finale only added to the excitement for another zombie filled fall/winter. Beyond that, not only did it answer some burning questions like What/who exactly are the Wolves?, Will Abraham & Eugene make amends before one of them dies?, and Where the hell is Morgan? (OMG, the first few minutes really got the blood pumping, right!!), but it continued to open up new story lines (like, holy crap, a techno disco walker herd), showed even more character growth (Glenn, Daryl), including the ones we were worried about or hated (Sasha, Gabriel), all while satisfying our thirst for Rick to…hmm, let’s face it, be Rick!! Additionally, the show continues to surprise us with blood filled gore fests that have us literally too scared to look away, while plotting small pockets throughout deeper story lines Keeping us guessing at every turn. It is simply fantastic…the essence of true television!! Moreover, the crew continues to ride parrell with the comics just enough to keep us happy, yet carries a stand alone position to keep us waiting (otherwise we’d just look ahead right!). And speaking of stand alone…all of social media was buzzing with thoughts on Daryl dying..the only non-comic character to have lasted this long. He’s been there since season one. Only Carol, Carl, Rick, Glenn (and Morgan) can say as much…ohh, and Judith, who likely was conceived in season one…lol. Finally, Neither Daryl nor Glenn died (though we were all crazed they might), but to keep us on our toes, their individual gut wrenching scenes of near death had us all screaming or crying at the TV (just like Norman said we would). Overall, coming in at over 60 minutes (I think), which is still several minutes of fun beyond a regularly aired episode, the finale turned us upside down then right again several times over…wouldn’t you agree!! I could barely contain myself throughout, yet somehow felt satisfied when it was over. No rioting about Daryl or Glenn, happy Pete was dead (sorry Porchdick…lol), freaking ecstatic to see Morgan in his new and right (not to mention bad ass) mind, and glad Rick, Michonne, and Carol were all on the same page. I simply cannot wait for season 6!! I’ll be spending the spring and summer catching up on the comics, novels, and checking out the spinoff…who’s with me??
Correction…*parallel
I thoroughly enjoyed the Season 5 Finale! I did scream at the tv when Gabriel left the gate open and when Daryl and Aaron set off the zombie trap! It was an emotional roller coaster for sure! I think the two wolves we were introduced to are just the scouts, like Daryl and Aaron are doing because after all Wolves travel in packs! One huge thing that has been bothering me is that when I rewatched the episode I noticed and paused to make sure I was right, when Pete stumbled drunkenly into the meeting there was blood on the sword before he cut Reg’s throat! Now I am having a hard time believing that was an accident. Im wondering if he hurt his son on his way there! That would make for huge shock factor and lead to plot lines with Jessie mourning a horrible loss and possibly even having troubles being around kids which would throw a wrench in Rick’s happy family plans. I am honestly just guessing though only time will tell! Im so ready for season 6 it cant get here fast enough!
Only one thing, Glenn Still alive!!!!!!!
Even in a post apocalyptic world Morgan demonstrates that it is the guy who speaks softly and carries a big stick that wins out in the end. Hopefully he’ll be along for the ride for awhile now that he’s hitched up with Rick and his group. Speaking of big sticks though hope we don’t see any baseball bats appearing too soon in Season 6 as Glenn is my favorite character so it won’t be nice to see you Lucille.
I posted a comment the day this first came out but was wondering who the winner is? Some how I missed the name & I have a new email address so if I ever win you can get me through Facebook bc I don’t want to post my new email address. I will try to find a place to change it..thanks
I love the way our group sticks together. They are all faced with this apparent safe haven, and they are all dealing with it in different ways….but in the moments that one of them may be cast out, they are prepared to stick together and fight it out… just as a true family would. MIchonne pounds Rick over the head with a rock in order to save a little face in front of the community, only to say “sorry I had to do that…but if shit goes down, I’m with you.” The look on our group’s face when Deanna was going to determine Rick’s fate came across to me as “ok….get ready to start kicking some ass.” Even Maggie, who has been the group’s face and voice of reason for Deanna, looked like she was prepared to fight for the family. This group’s bond is solid, and I love that Godfather sense of family they have. I LOVED this season and how they developed the characters as they went…and I can’t wait to see it continue….especially Abraham….give me more Abraham!
Just watch the finale. It was incredible, my jaw dropped for pretty much the whole episode. I love how every member of their group wants to fight for their family throughout. I loved this season, and then to find out Morgan was still alive, it was a highlight. Knowing that he is strong enough to survive on his own after losing his kid and wife. But i cant believe they left it there, not a major cliff hanger but i want to know what happened next! Please make the next season extra long so its impossible for me to watch it in one day
