In almost every mail bag we do fans ask about Heath’s whereabouts. More specifically, “WHERE IS HEATH?!” Great question! He was last spotted in Season 7 Episode 6 during a supply run gone horribly wrong with Tara. The two of them were scavenging for supplies and medicine when suddenly they came under attack from sand walkers. The two got separated, Tara discovered and escaped Oceanside, where she found Heath and their RV missing.
Since that fateful day Heath has been MIA. Most fans will attribute that to the actor Corey Hawkins’ work on FOX’s 24: Legacy, but perhaps it was part of the plan all along. So back to our original question, what are the chances we see Heath in Season 8? “Not a huge chance,” Showrunner Scott Gimple told Entertainment Weekly. “But we definitely have not seen the last of Heath, period. I will say that. I don’t mean to disappoint the Heathies. He will be on the show. He will be within The Walking Dead again.”
This is great news because Heath still plays a role in The Walking Dead comics. In fact, Heath does NOT disappear at this point in the source material. Although he doesn’t play a huge role in All Out War, he DOES get his leg blown off during Negan’s explosive attack against Alexandria. He’s later nursed back to health by Denise, who mends him before she succumbs to her bite wound.
With Denise dead and Heath missing, it’s clear the season will have to deviate from the comics. But how far? If Heath returns will he still get his leg blown off? Or will that fate be given to someone else? You’ll have to tune in to find out. Tell us in the comments when and how YOU want Heath to return. The Walking Dead Season 8 premieres on October 22nd @ 9PM.
