Entertainment Weekly spoke with Robert Kirkman, who teased what he knows so far about Season 5.
“There’s been a lot more secrecy on set,” Kirkman told EW. “Just because any images that get out of any kind of things that are seen do in a sense spoil that cliffhanger, so we’re trying to keep things a little more tight this time around. There’s always people crowding around where we’re filming and trying to get spy spots of what we’re doing and stuff, but for the most part we’ve been able to avoid that. This is the first time we’ve really finished a season and gone back to the same place for the next season, so that’s kind of cool.”
When asked about the pacing next season, he said, “I think this show works best with a cycle or ramping up and ramping down, and lulling people into a sense of security and speeding things up and keeping them on guard. I will say that we definitely start this season in an up cycle, whereas last season we definitely started the season in a down cycle. So we’re certainly changing things up in that respect and we’re gonna kind of hit the ground running this season.”
And on what it’s like to be back in Atlanta, working on Season 5, “We think we’re making another magical season.”

Ugh its sooooo far down the road! I hate these long waits.
Exactly me2
i want to see carl a lot
I like that they’re picking right back up from where they left off…that is always a good thing!
I’d disagree that Season 4 started in a “down” cycle. Both seasons 3 and 4 had really fast-paced, intense first halves, and slower second halves.
Season 3 was shit.
Oh, Mr. Kirkman. I rarely read any of these little interviews with him anymore. Why bother? He has absolutely perfected the art of speaking; eloquently and intelligently, and at length; while saying absolutely nothing at all!LOL
He must have aced his classes at The Derek Jeter School of Dealing with the Media.
