Another episode, another chance to check out the scenes that inspired it from the comic! As usual with the show, there are some big differences, some added scenes, and some changes in timeline and character groupings, but there are still a couple good comparisons to be made this week. I’m going to throw a big old spoiler warning in here. There’s a character with our group in the comics that is not currently in the show, so you’ve been warned. I have no idea if this person will be showing up or not, but you never know.

Up first, we have a moment that you don’t really see in the show, as it takes place in between episodes 410 and 411, the reunion of Carl, Rick, and Michonne. I wanted to show it though since the knock on the door was such a happy ending last week, and Michonne finding Carl and Rick is an unusual happy moment in the comic (from Volume 09: Here We Remain). We also see Carl happy with Michonne soon after she arrives in this week’s episode.

Next we have a scene that occurs a tiny bit later in the comics (in Volume 10: What We Become), but was pulled into this episode. As Michonne searches a house for supplies, she comes across a mother and her children, who committed group suicide. A different character is the one that finds them in the comic, but we haven’t heard yet if Morgan will be making an appearance again on the show…

group-suicide-vs

Our last big one, we have Eugene dropping the bomb that he knows what caused the outbreak in the first place. As events transpire a little differently in the comic, Eugene isn’t with just Glenn, he’s with the whole group. We also see that Eugene explains their situation in the comic, whereas Abraham does almost all the exposition in the show. This also happens in Volume 9.

And a tiny one to end on, we see Rick throw on a jacket that reminds us how much he liked rocking that fur collar in the comic.

So that’s it for this week! We miss anything? We can whip it up if we did. Let us know in the comments below!

I don’t believe that Eugene guy knows how this all started. I think he’s a phony and he looks like a doofus. i think terminus is a trap and they’ll all end up going to D.C. and Eugene will probably have been lying and will turn out to be a phony.

That’s some laughable shit. How is this a panel to screen comparison when it’s obviously complete different stories and/or different people saying those lines? Not even close. You guys are seriously desperate to somehow prove the show is following the comic..

Yeah, there are differences… Brian acknowledged that in the second sentence. But the similarities are hard to miss! How did you?

We all already know that they don’t follow the comics word for word and scene by scene so don’t be a ass. What they try to show is what a great job the makers do of casting and translating the comics in to the series (in a limited way of course, it wouldn’t be fun when everything would be the same.)

Try to read the words under/above the pictures first.

If you can’t see the similarities you are… not worth mentioning.

I liked Michonne & Carl’s reunion in the comic better.

Same here, I loved the reunion in the comic! It would have been really weird for it to happen that way in the show just because Carl’s age difference though.

You’re right about Carl’s age. Sometimes I wish he was the same age in the show that he is in the comics.

The first thing I looked for when it revealed the dead kids and the mother was the Screwdriver Holes. Whoever did the dead bodies did amazing work.

I also jumped up in excitement when I saw Rick get his coat. It is so awesome that he finally got the coat. I enjoy little details like that.

So one thing I would like to add is the scene at the start when Abraham kills the walkers and says something like “Don’t you dare fire that weapon” similar to the scene in the comics where Andrea is trying to get a clear shot and Abraham says the same line and kills 3 or 4 walkers by himself on the farm. It’s in Vol9: Here We Remain at the end of it

YEAH, definitely noticed the jacket and white t-shirt. I’m like “Hey he’s looking a lot more like the comic’s Rick!” I liked the episode, but I was hoping for Rick to do a little bit more ass kicking. Quit slacking off when it comes to Rick and Carl writers!

I like Carl’s little mention of heaven in this episode. So far, he’s denied that there is a heaven. Though it was a slight mention, it was something.

How about that moment when Glenn punched Abraham? It was one of my favorite moments from this episode.
