Which Walking Dead characters are the most powerful heading into Season 8? Similar to our Power Rankings, we assigned a numerical rating (100 being the highest) in the theme of the recently released NBA 2K ratings, which popularly rates players in the 2K games. We rated them on a formula that measures strength, abilities, value, and personality. Behold the rankings of our Top 8 characters below and tell us in the comments which characters/ratings we should do next.
Negan
Negan may have taken an L in the Season 7 finale, but he’s still by far the most powerful character in the show. Sure, the communities he rules over wants him overthrown, but if and when that actually happens he, his Saviors, and Lucille remain at the top.
Rick
Rick has remained a steady force in all seven seasons of The Walking Dead. Now that he’s allied himself with Maggie and The Hilltop and Ezekiel and The Kingdom, he looks nearly unstoppable. Nearly.
Maggie
We placed Maggie this high because of her rapidly-evolving leadership skills. Although she originally used The Hilltop as a temporary safe haven to mourn Glenn, she now runs the place and has trained the people to be soldiers in the upcoming war against The Saviors. She’s used the loss of her husband Glenn as motivation and for that, she’s a 92.
Michonne
Michonne took a hell of a beating in the bell tower but we can assure you she comes back stronger than ever in Season 8. Her katana skills + her new rifle skills matched with dating Rick? WHEW.
King Ezekiel
King Ezekiel may be new to the crew but he runs a very powerful community and has, as Negan described, A GODDAMN TIGER!
Daryl
Daryl took a few steps back in Season 7. Even though he escaped his slave life at The Sanctuary, he was clearly still afflicted by the guilt of Glenn’s death. Daryl is a dangerous man when he’s mad, so his revenge tour will either skyrocket his rating or cause it to implode.
Carol
Carol spent the majority of Season 7 in a cottage outside The Kingdom. So why is her rating so high? Because she’s Carol motherf***ing Peletier and she’s prepared to enact her revenge! The glimpse of her badassery we saw in the Season 7 finale is a prelude of things to follow.
Morgan
Morgan finally abandoned his peaceful lifestyle last season and returned to his CLEARing ways. As much as his skills are needed in the war against Negan, it’s kind of like giving a toddler a machine gun. You don’t THINK they’ll shoot you but it’s always a possibility. His unhinged nature could be trouble next season.
Tell us which characters we should cover next and we’ll add them to the post!
What you’re really saying is Michonne’s the highest ranked person in the ZA after all of the community leaders. Makes sense because she and Rick are technically running Alexandria together.
Carl
Maggie is the weakest on the list!
