In regards to tie-ins, crossovers, plans, expansion, etc. I love all of the answers! Adlard admitted to enjoying drawing the horses, which is so obvious in his work. I appreciate that “the comic is the most important aspect of The Walking Dead”! That’s the way it should be!

The questions ended on an adorable note!

That was an adorable ending. Though every time a parent shuffles their kid up to ask a question at a Con when the topic is something like TWD, I am hoping to god they don’t actually let their little ones read/watch it.

I was thinking that, too. I think it’s just so popular that kids just know about it…. at least, that’s what I’m hoping….sounded like a reeeeaaally young one!

Super young! I have been to a few TWD panels with the cast and when a small kid gets up and asks a question about the show that seems legit I am always like “Oh my GOD! Are you serious, parents!?”

Some of the shit on the show gives me nightmares as an adult!

What would be the cutoff age for you for the TV viewers?

          • Carly Hudson says:

A little depends on the maturity of the individual kid, of course. But I feel like 13 is the absolute youngest and even then it’s kind of young. I say 13 because that’s also the age I started sneaking to watch things that my mom told me I couldn’t watch. “You can’t keep me from Bevis and Butthead, ma!!!”

I have a six year old and she is still mad at me because I won’t let her watched Spiderman. Dude, most of it’s fine, but the violence that’s there… To me, just too intensive for little minds.

          • Carly Hudson says:

            What do you think?

          • Bastet says:

Can’t shield kids from everything. The important thing is to teach them right from wrong, good from bad, reality from fiction & that way, when they’re exposed to it, they will know the difference & when given choices, they will make educated ones.

I’m like you….depends on the maturity level & disposition, not necessarily the age. I limit my kids’ exposure, depending on what it is & how much. I have a 13 yr old & 11 yr old, both boys. I draw the line at frequent use of the F-bomb & sexual content. My 11 year old does not watch TWD with me but my 13 yr old does. If Negan was brought on, full force, my 13 yr old would be sorely disappointed because he’d be cut off from the show immediately. I refuse to let him read my comics.

I caught flack on this site, back on the S4 finale discussion when the F-bomb was brought up & I stated that I was fine with the way it was done because my 13 yr old was watching with me. It was implied that the reason the world is the way it is today is because of mothers like me. It pissed me off because what works for me may not necessarily work for others. I could do a whole new paragraph on just how fantastic my boys are, but the point is it’s not about how much you can shield your child from but how you teach them to handle what they will inevitably be exposed to.

Time for a glass of wine after that! Whew!

          • Carly Hudson says:

Damn, the weight of the world’s problems on you! People are harsh, especially when there’s the anonymity of message boards to hide behind. Sorry to hear you were personally blasted for your parenting, because that is rough. Nobody knows your boys better than you do. Every kid and family is different.

Here’s my issue, when I feel like kids are watching the show super young because it’s inconvenient for their parents to wait until the kid’s in bed or not home or whatever. Also, the parents who don’t even have that thought at all of, ‘is this appropriate, should they be exposed to this?’ It is definitely a decision that needs to be made, not just a “sure, whatever” kind of deal.

As a parent, my number one goal is the well-being of my kid. Part of that is making sure she is super well rounded and exposed to new and different things and knows what’s right and wrong. When my six-year old wants to watch something that we don’t feel appropriate for her yet we have a discussion with her about why she’s not ready for it yet, seriously, every time. And the kid gets it. We find her a Spiderman cartoon to sub for the movies. A Zombie Goldfish book to sub for TWD and she’s cool and happy and not scarred for life. 😉 Ha ha.

          • Bastet says:

My kids have seen worse on real news. What trips me out is that some parents will balk at children watching TWD but it’s OK for them to watch these sleazy “reality TV” shows. These are the same parents that walk into the local Walmart with their kids & use every slang in the book loud enough for me to hear it 3 aisles over. Then when I round the corner to see who the ghetto hell it is, I see booty cutters, spandex, club gear.

          • Carly Hudson says:

Ugh, there aren’t many reality shows that I can watch and feel good about myself. Trash TV makes me kind of sad.

That being said, my reality show of choice is Face Off on SyFy. We watch Face Off as a family and my husband is always like, “most parents would not think this is appropriate for a six year old.” But that is exactly the kind of reality show I like and want my munchkin to watch–the kind that inspires and lets her know there are more careers out there to choose from than the bullshit office routine mommy and daddy do.

          • Bastet says:

What in the world is inappropriate about Face Off?! I was thinking of the Kardashian/Snooky type stuff, lol! We like Face Off. We see that kind of thing as art…nothing scary about it.

          • Carly Hudson says:

Yeah, my husband is ever so slightly more paranoid than I am about warping our little love. When someone does a really gross creation he just worries a bit. But I agree, it’s art and it’s awesome and it usually leads to my kid doing some awesome drawings the next day!

          • Carly Hudson says:

We got serrrrrrious! I wish someone asked Robert and Charlie what age they think is appropriate for the comic and show. Just curious what they would think.

          • Bastet says:

I think they joked about it once…somewhere they said 25 or 30, lol! I told my older one he had to be 30 before he reads the comics!

Great panel! I am now flipping through pictures of real actors to find the Negan inspiration.

My vote: Henry Rollins. He’s got the perfect build and look. Plus, he can be one intense mother fucker, but also funny as hell.

I am so lucky were a live we have quite a few place’s like that all within a short drive. We may not have comic-con but we have plenty of castle’s 🙂

Yeah, totally. Alnwick castle was used for some of the harry potter films which is about 45 min from me. So you can wonder round on the actual sets. So cool.

          • Bastet says:

Castles always make me think of Dracula & Hannibal. I’d like to see just one before I permanently nod off!

          • Stuart O says:

Well north east england has plenty of them, we are right on the border of Scotland, we were always fighting each other hence so many castles lol. ! A guess there isn’t any in the USA then?

          • Bastet says:

As I understand it, what we have here are knockoff castles. I wouldn’t brag about visiting an impostor, lol!

Family legend says my ancestors came from a little island off the coast of Scotland. It would be nice to know if I was lucky enough to have some William Wallace blood coursing through the veins!

I haven’t read all the comics. I did skip and read #128 (I had to get it because of the challenge I won) and #129. I also know most of the people who are dead (through research for my fan fiction), just not how. So when Charlie said that bit about Abraham I was little upset even though I know he was dead. 🙁 Oh, well. I almost turned it off when they began to say how Negan is introduced. Yeah, don’t tell me!!
