This week we Googled the creepiest shows on television and found out The Walking Dead was listed second behind American Horror Story (fair, Twisty still haunts our nightmares). But as creepy as AHS is, the next eight episodes of The Walking Dead might be enough to pull us ahead.
That’s because of the introduction of our next villain group, The Whisperers, who wear human/walker skin over their own to blend in with the undead. Specifically, their comic-inspired leader Alpha, played by Samantha Morton. “…She’s probably one of the scariest characters television has to offer,” Nadia Hilker (who plays Magna on the show) told metro.co.uk. “She is super scary. (It) kind of reminds me of Silence Of The Lambs in a way, Anthony Hopkins.”
Alpha may not be a cannibal like her serial killer counterpart, but don’t put human skin lampshades past her. Hilker continued, “When (Samantha Morton) goes into character you just want to leave. You want to run away as fast as you can and as far away as you can. There’s something about her, there’s a button. She just becomes a very different person and her energy – you feel like you can’t breathe and that’s very powerful.”
Hilker also made sure to clarify that Alpha wasn’t Negan 2.0. “I don’t think Alpha is going to be the new Negan,” Hilker said. “I think Negan is going to stay Negan and no one is going to take his place.”
