Invincible’s perfect blend of the heartfelt and the horrendous is demonstrated once more in its latest episode – 206, “It’s Not That Simple.” That’s due in no small part to the show’s Color Design Crew, who wield a palette as wide as Invincible’s range of emotions. To learn more, Skybound Insiders (Skybound’s free-to-join rewards program) sat down for an exclusive video chat with Season 2’s Color Supervisor Ashley Stoddard and Color Designer Victoria Thornberry. Here are the highlights of the conversation…
Coloring Atom Eve
After a brief explanation of how their team brings color to characters, props, effects, and vibes, Victoria tells us, “The most challenging character [to color] is really Atom Eve, her effects and constructs.” She elaborates on her comments at the 1:16 mark below.
Coloring Locations
At the 3:52 mark, Ashley speaks about bringing color to the show’s regular locations – like the Armageddon Room of the GDA, the Grayson House, and the Guardians of the Globe Headquarters – as well as new ones in the far flung reaches of space.
Playing with Oliver
Of the show’s recent cast additions, “The most fun character I get to tweak and play with is Oliver, because he’s purple,” explains Victoria at the 5:48 mark.
Rex Splode’s Head Splode
Episode 206’s money shot can be found at the 6:50 mark, along with Ashley’s related thoughts on all things bloody. “We worked hard to make all of the blood consistent,” she says.

Finally, at 13:39, Ashley teases us about other color spaces she’s excited to see in the second half of Invincible Season 2. Including “a certain space prison,” thoughts on the season finale, and more…
