Really great job here guys, i love the overall vibe of the game. I wasn’t overly keen on being outside of the vehicle, although that changed once i was in the city. You guys managed to make it feel real dangerous when you’re out of the vehicle with both the use of the torch mechanic and clever camera design. I have to admit it was much more fun being in the car although it seemed to kill the vibe (as far as i’m aware – you’re invincible inside the truck?). I’m not 100% sure of the objective is but i enjoyed it none the less and don’t think having a clear objective is necessary at all. Great job here guys!
Thanks for the feedback Joe! Yes vehicle damage was sadly one of the things that got cut due to time. This would have helped ‘balance’ the car vs walking a lot. Also your totally correct about the objective being obscure that was actually the first thing we addressed when we found out we will be able to update the game posted here (hopefully that version will be available next week!) Also the font we chose fit the game really well, but sadly was difficult to read the “remaining badguy counter” in-game. So we swapped out the font as well.
Looking forward to seeing any future iterations!
Great game guys. I never did find all of the bad guys, but mowing over zombies in the truck was a lot of fun. I think vehicle damage will go a long way to make the game a bit more intense. I will be back next week to see what else you come up with 😉
Thanks for the feedback. We noticed it was difficult to track down all the enemies so in our updated version we added a radar to help you find them when they are nearby. Sadly I don’t think vehicle damage will make it in. However not all enemies can be run-down with the truck so you have to get out and take care of business ‘on foot’ for a few of them 😉
Great work with this one. Love the atmosphere. For a while I tried to kill the first enemy but I guess my brains missed him. I will get back to him later. The car ride was fun (and effective, ha). totally agree on the damage model, I’d love to see what damage combined with maybe some repair containers to pick up would do to the fun level. Camera is genius!
Repair containers is a really good idea. We were thinking of just adding multiple vehicles that you could switch out for if your previous truck got too damaged. The pickups would be a simpler design, and also give you more rewards for exploring.
Thanks for the comment on the camera controls, we spent a large amount of our development time (more than we should have maybe!) on getting the camera just right. In the end we were pretty proud of it so its great to hear others enjoyed it as well.
