All Out War continues!
Everyone that was worried that All Out War was going to be 11 issues of talking and 1 issue of action, I hope your concerns have been allayed. Not only was this issue action-packed, it had zombies. Like lots of zombies, as Rick pulled some real Governor s#!t.
Negan kicked Gregory to the curb. Unfortunately the curb was a few stories down.
Hilltop stood strong with Rick and the Survivors. F yeah.
And what’s going to happen to Holly? It can’t be good to be on Negan’s bad side. Yeesh.
What did everyone think? The best comment about issue 116 gets a SIGNED copy of 116. Yup, I said it. So comment below.
The war has only just begun.
I’m super impressed with what Robert Kirkman has done with this comic series. He’s gone from Rick being afraid of the dead to fighting a WAR against a corrupt psycho and his people as the world slowly begins to rebuild. Pure, amazing, literature.
I thought Rick would have a bad start at war but I was wrong, he had a pretty rad plan after all. Holly’s badassery (or stupidity) was outstanding. Although I can see her becoming one of Negan’s wives.
Ha. Holly would!
That seems like it would be the most unexpected and better than rape or torture as that has been done. Would be interesting if she becomes one of Negan’s wife and is used against Rick.
In the 117’s preview it is made clear that Negan thinks Holly is Rick’s couple. This has gotten even more interesting.
I’ll be surprised if the double cross has any follow through… That is all.
I am very intrigued to see how Negan treats Holly. If he rapes her then it just further associates the character of Negan with that of the Governor. Personally, I think they are two completely different personalities and Negan can think of a million more fucked up things to do to Holly than the Governor ever could.
Same here. I’m curios to see how long he’ll keep her alive.
Everyone seems to be worried about (or expecting) him raping her, but a few issues back Negan said sexual violence disgusts him. So I don’t think it will go that way.
Rick’s plan was better than expected. When this was billed as “All Out War” it was no joke. Round 1 to Rick, but I am sure Negan has some tricks up his sleeve. I am curious to see what happens when the reinforcements from the outpost arrive.
Here is a good example of how Rick sometimes (well most of the time) doesn’t let anyone know the full scope of his plans. He didn’t let anyone know he was going to sacrifice himself. It’s a chess game and Rick moved all of his pawns… Which turned out to be a hoard of walkers!
He also knows that people need to take sacrifices and he doesn’t want to put others in that situation. He also knows that people wouldn’t agree, like Michonne. My question is, why would he sacrifice himself without confronting Carl about it? What about saying his last goodbye to him? Or Andrea? Seems like it was a suicide mission and he know there was a chance he wouldn’t get out alive.
War comes with a price. Negan now has a POW. It’s no longer just a battle to neutralize the threat, now; it’s also a rescue operation. I liked the idea of stirring up the walkers and crashing the fence–they can keep Negan’s men busy and hopefully wear them down a little. It’ll make round two a little easier for Rick and the gang.
Hopefully it will force Negan to deplete some of his ammunitions as well. I am not holding my breath for Holly to be rescued.
How long do you think Negan will keep Holly alive? I have a feeling he is going to use her to his advantage like The Governor did to Tyreese.
Negan is actually pretty terrifying. I’m happy that Rick got a great shot in first, but there’ll be hell to pay and I’ll be right there with it.
Well that was one of the best issues I have ever read. Rick just keeps getting more and more badass. This is going to be absolutely fucking amazing… Excuse my Negan-esque language. Bring it on, Kirkman!!
Wondering what is going to happen next is killing me! I’m hoping we get to see Lucille in action big time in 117. I keep getting annoyed by the fan letters and such where people complain about the few similarities in Negan and the Governor. Negan is miles better than the Governor. He’s not a mindless psycho like the Governor was. His moves and actions are cold, but they are also very calculated.
Actually, you know, if they just kill Rick and crew off at the end of this angle and refocus the comics around Negan, that’d be just fucking dandy.
I Agree with the first part. The fan letters about the similarities and being repetitive are plain retard but it would ruin the entire comic if they kill Rick off and follow Negan.
Gregory fell. Holly answers the bell (and probably, now, won’t be doing so well). Negan promises Hell. Rick knows it’s too soon to tell.
Kirkman…you’re swell.
heheh
Oooooohhh, that smell!
Great issue. Rick really took a page from the governor’s book by planning to drive the car through the fences. I can’t wait to see what happens the next few issues. I’m taking bets with my friends to see how kirkman breaks or hearts by killing off characters in the book. I’m also interested to see how Carl and Andrea work their way into the war if they do. They don’t seem like the ones to sit back and wait.
I think Andrea will play a significant role and I would wager that Carl will kill Negan. Maybe he will claim Lucille as his own!
I would love to see Maggie work her way in to the war some how and she should be the one to finally kill Negan! She needs to get revenge for Glen!
That would be great and fitting. Killing Negan could have a huge impact on her personality and could give her more of an edge and make her dark. I like it.
I love how much the tv show has developed Maggie’s character and I want the comic to do the same!
I love how Rick has grown throughout the series, and how his past experiences constantly change his philosophy and actions. In the last issue, he mentions that long ago (Issue #17) he created a rule: “You Kill? You Die”. However, soon after he realized that sometimes it is necessary to kill in order to protect yourself and those you love. Now, the story, and civilization, has progressed so much that there is no longer a reason to kill, and he announces that it’s finally time to stick to his rule; “You kill and you die.”
Similarly, his strategy for attacking The Saviors in this issue is a lesson he learned from the “No Way Out” storyline. He commands his soldiers to keep firing, even after the Savior’s snipers have been killed. Through Negan’s remarks, the reader discovers that Rick is commanding them to simply shatter the windows, drawing a crowd of walkers to The Sanctuary, hundreds strong. And with smashing the gate, he succeeds in creating quite a problem for Negan.
The continual evolution of these characters, especially of Rick, is what keeps me coming back for more every month (now every other week). Thanks for the great story guys!
Jake-Is Rick’s strategist ability the factor that makes him the go-to leader of the groups he encounters? Perhaps he has learned that being on the defensive doesn’t always work out…I would love to get your thoughts @TWDsurvey (an academic research survey on leadership in the comic series-everything is confidential). You can see the survey at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/thewalkingdead.
Great comment. You get a signed copy of 116!
Awesome! Thanks so much Brian!
Use the dead. Kill the living…
Anyone notice the similarities between Negan and Danny McBride (aka Kenny Powers) since his arrival in the series? Maybe I’m late to the party, but I find it funny that Negan’s personality and speech sound like something Danny would say in one of his films or shows.
Loved that show! Sucks that it’s over, but at least we got a fourth season, was supposed to be done after 3.
So is Gregory for sure dead? Because I never want to see that guy ever again.
I wish he was, but I don’t think so. He’s featured on the cover of 118…hopefully that like an “in memoriam type of thing lol
Wondering that as well. Came here to ask but saw you already did, and Felix brings up a good point about the 118 cover. Usually the ones you want to die, don’t.
this issue was so strong! the last few issues were al about rick vs negan and when the war begun rick just ussed the one and only thing they have in common the fear and enemy: the walkers… so awesome to see they used the basic threat in this world against Negan and his army
Great issue! I loved Rick’s strategy, pure genius. I’m a little unsure if taking out one small section of fence is going to be enough, it seems like that would be relatively easy to repair. I’m looking forward to #117 on the 27th!!!
When i turned the page and saw rick standing there alone..
It was epic..
Rick has the respect and is going to lead his army to victory..
And..
RIP Holly..
Nice username
I have a strong feeling sooner or later Negan’s followers are going to turn on him and it isn’t going to be pretty.
If I was Holly, I’d want to have died in that car. Now Negan has his hands on her and is going to do some silly things to that poor girl. Boy oh Boy.
The image of Rick on the last page is so bad ass…stoic moment.
Using the dead against Negan is great, catching him unaware is priceless. Really good strategy. PLUS…Andrea and her sniper crew are not in the group that left…so…they must be waiting for walker clean up, and pick off savior time!!!!
Go Andrea!! Save Holly!!!
Holly is so stupid…like Rick said, Negan doesn’t want him dead. He could’ve taken down the fences and left safely. But instad Holy had to kick him in his no-no’s and now she’s screwed. When will they learn…LISTEN TO RICK!
I haven’t read any issue of All Out War so far as all it is is a money grab by by Skybound and Image. Negan should have been dead in issue 100. Do I win? The Governor was the ultimate badass, Negan just sucks.
The Walking Dead is the greatest comic book ever written. Hands down. When I read the first issue, I was blown away and I couldn’t stop reading. I have read every issue at least twice. TWD is literally the only book I read anymore, because nothing else even comes close. Robert Kirkman stated that you won’t even be able to recognize Rick in the end…and boy, was he right! It’s nowhere near the end of the series and already I don’t recognize the person I saw in the first Issue!
The walking dead is the best comic (and show) ever and I’ve read every issue as least twice. Issue 16 was awesome and i loved how Rick’s group shot the windows to make noise to make a herd of walkers come and trap Negan’s group. Sadly Holly is probably dead but someone had to ram the gates so that the walkers could get in. Anyways thanks for another awesome issue and I would love to get the signed copy of issue 16!!!!
Love how the zombies are finally factored into the story again. For a while now they have just really been the setting and pretense, but now they’re a threat because Rick and co. actually have to go, and stay, outside of their walls!
The only way you could possible feel the hunger that Walkers feel is reading TWD, after you finish an issue all there is left is the need to feed on the next. Thank God for the bi weekly releases now.
I blew through this issue in a few minutes. had to re-read a couple times and soak in the great art. THIS is what we’ve been waiting for! Good luck, Holly, remember that Negan has nads too… ALL OUT WAR!!!!!!
All I can say is How About That? Ain’t that some bullspit.
Guys it’s the post-apocalypse. Of course any vicious man with power is going to rape women. Just because they might both do that doesn’t mean they’re any more similar… It would be laughable to think Negan and/or his men WOULDN’T do anything sexual to Holly. It’s simply a given.
Great issue. I’m a bit surprised the alliance was able to walk right up to Negan’s front door so easily tho? Negans not one to drop the ball on defense. How many of Negan’s men is there at this stage? When we first met Negan his force was well over a hundred but they’ve no doubt had their own share of casualties since.
Holly you MORON – she was hot, spunky and would’ve been a good love interest for anyone of the single main characters but after Negan’s through with her she’ll be damaged goods and/or dead. Gregory should die soon jesus what a wimp. Hilltop is a bunch of suckers save Jesus.
I’d love to see a gadget to replace rick’s hand (with knifes.. like merle in tv )
I suggest you put the characyer jeff grimes , the brother of rick in the comic book , after several issues from now , I think it would be a great idea to see rick and jeff meet and how they changed and how jeff will meet his nephew carl…
Negan seriously needs to go Lucille on Rick’s head
I just got to read issue 116 “finally” I just F’N crap my pants
I think it Negan will force holly to be a soldier instead of a wife. I can imagine what the governor would do if he was in the same situation with holly , h’e’d do horrible atrocities.
I want to see rick with a gadget to replace hand ! Earln will create it
Make it a hook so he can be Captain Rick…. no that’s terrible idea js
