7 Comic Moments That Should Be In the Show?

IGN broke down 7 of their favorite moments from the comic that they want to see in the show. Click here to check it out and then come on back for our replies! MASSIVE SPOILER WARNING.

1. The Suicide Pact

This is indeed a heavy, heavy moment in the comic, and something that Robert excels at. As IGN points out we have sister Sasha instead of daughter Julie, and we’re well past the Prison now. They also mention that Sasha seems too strong to do something like this. Agreed. Something like this would require a major slow-down in the show, and some heavy character development. It’s dark, even for AMC’s The Walking Dead.
Odds in Season 5: 10%. This season is looking fast-paced, at least the first half. I don’t think they’d have the breathing room to set this up.
Odds this will happen with Sasha: 5%. She’s too badass.
Overall Odds: 25%. It may happen with different characters. I think if it does, it might possibly be something that’s just alluded to, with characters we never even see.

2. Rick Loses His Hand

Yes, the Governor is gone, but could someone else take Rick’s hand? IGN thinks maybe professional mother f—er Negan might be the man for the job. Robert has gone on the record many times at how hard it’s been having Rick be one-handed in the comic, and there you’re able to cheat (like have Rick reload off-panel, or never tie his shoes). That won’t fly on the show. And besides, Merle already lost his hand, so how novel would it be?
Odds of Rick Losing His Hand: 5%. Anything’s possible. Especially with Kirkman, Gimple, et al.
Odds of Rick Losing Another Appendage: 15%. The man was born to suffer.

3. Battling the Hunters

AMC has been teasing something like this for a long time now. So yes, very probable. Will there be a Dale tainted meat episode? God, I hope so. Will there be some vicious, cold-blooded Survivor justice? We’ll see.
Odds of The Hunters Showing Up: 90%
Odds of Tainted Meat: 70%. I bet Gimple loves this moment as much as you guys do.
Odds of Brutal Justice: 80%. Rick has been ruthless on the show before. I don’t think we’ve seen the last of it. Forgiveness gives you the Governor.

4. Eugene’s Lies Exposed

Well, the opposite here is what, Eugene is telling the truth?
Odds Eugene is a Liar and the Group Finds Out: 99.9%. I don’t believe in sure things.

5. The End of Carl’s Childhood Innocence

Well, IGN, I wouldn’t say Carl’s childhood innocence ended with a chunk of his head getting blown off. It was much, much earlier, like when he dealt with Ben. Carl grew up FAST. But will Carl endure some horrible injury in the show (besides getting gut-shot)?
Odds of Carl Getting His Eye and Part of His Face Blown Off: 75%. If only for the awesome Governor-call-back eye patch.

6. Negan’s Debut

I think this is a question of “when,” not “if.” In fact, I think Gimple even said he was planning on it.
Odds of Negan Showing Up in Season 5: 5%. It’s too soon. There’s too much story to tell, too much opportunity for the show to insert some story before Negan and All Out War.
Odds of Negan Showing Up: 90%
Odds That People Will Complain About Him Not Swearing Enough: 100%. Ok, fine, I guess I do believe in sure things.

7. All Out War

It’s the largest and most ambitious story arc we’ve done, so yes, I think it will absolutely be in the show. But again, how long will that be?
Odds of AOW in Season 5: 0.01%.
Odds of AOW: 75%

What do you guys think? What do you want to see from the comic show up in AMC’s The Walking Dead? I think IGN’s Jesse did a pretty good job! Though where are Jesus, Dwight, Ezekiel, and Shiva on the list?!

They would have to make the show R if they were going to have Negan in all his ‘f***ing’ glory. I think that there is a 50/50 chance of Maggie trying to commit suicide for the same reasons shown in the comic.

since they already did the suicide thing with beth on the show I don’t know if they’ll go there again with sister Maggie. but who knows

I forgot about that completely. That feels like it was years ago. I still think that Maggie could commit suicide. She might just start to break down because of all the people who have died around her. Maybe after Beth dies.

I believe Krikman is going to do what he originally had planned for abraham on the show. Cause remember Krikman did Abe’s death totally last minute for shock value and realism. So I believe what ever was originally planned for Abe will pan out and someone like tyreese will get that death or even Morgan and then have tyreese get Morgans comic death.

Also, we’ve already seen a character lose a hand on the show. It’s been done. It wouldn’t be as shocking as it was when we all first read it and were like WHAT THE FUUUCK!

Concerning Negan, I find it odd that he’s not allowed to swear,
considering all the violence in The Walking Dead. As if it’s his
swearing that makes the show not suitable for children.

You can make any word sound like one hell of a curse if you say it right. My money is on Neagan inventing his own swear word a la those “gorram” outlaws on Firefly. This can be done and done well without need of “mother fuckers.”

That worked for Rick. They’re gonna have to be more creative when it comes to Negan, who needs a replacement not only for verbs but for exclamation, adverb, adjective, & noun.

    • Bastet says:

The trade-off would be to make him even more tyrannical in a physical sense than expected.

It’s not just cursing…Negan uses the F-Bomb as a noun, verb, pronoun, adjective, adverb, preposition, conjunction, interjection, comparative, superlative.

Taking away that kind of mastery of the English language will change the man. 🙂

I never thought of that! True indeed. Plus, the show has to deal with a real life kid who’s getting and looking way older. He’s growing quicker than Comic Carl by default. By All Out War he may be 16!

To some people, that F-word is more offensive & the rules are heavier when it deals with anything sexual vs racism. It’s the only thing that makes sense to me, although what doesn’t make sense is Kirkman stating that they weren’t allowed to use it but I swear that I’ve heard it on AMC before!

If someone on this site or in my life asked me not to cuss or if I ever offend someone I would apologize and try to work it out . I feel the networks don’t have that privilege they can’t please everyone so it must be tough to figure out what to do without getting fined or losing viewers. I think Negan will bring some hilarious antics no matter what.

Actually, I wasn’t watching Breaking Bad when it was being aired, but I’ve recently started watching the DVDs….I’m in the middle of Season 2 right now & I’m just ASTOUNDED at what I’m hearing and seeing!! If the DVDs are exactly like the show was aired, Kirkman is certainly a bold-faced liar!

I really want to see carl get shot. I think it’s pivotal. . Same with introduction of Negan. I think Negan should come along at the end of season 6. They still need to make it back from dc to alexandria. There’s alot of story to tell. The suicide was done in season one just not followed through. I totally believe maggie WILL NOT try to hang herself. She’s too strong and she had Glen. When she was looking for him she didn’t bother with Beth it was all glen all the time. She was willing to risk going off by herself to find him. A woman who does that doesn’t think about suicide. I also think carol might take the place of Andrea in the show. She’s becoming stronger and more badass as time goes by. As for Ab I’m thinking that shocking death will play out but not with him. Maybe tyreese or even Darrel as someone else mentioned. Has to be a big character to have a huge impact onus viewers! Just like they did the switch from tyreese to hershel for the beheading by the govenor!

Plus I would like to think alexandria will be a whole season in itself. Season 5 the hunters(termites)..Mid season probably dc bound. Then season 6 will be DC related and at the end they find alexandria! Then season 7 all alexandria SO I predict season 8 for the intro to Negan 🙂 if they do it right and not rush the story

I think they’ll escape Terminus right away in season 5, meet Gabriel, deal with the Termites/Hunters, then be DC bound and find Alexandria in episode 8. 2nd half of Season 5 will be living in Alexandria, fighting the bandits, and end with Carl getting shot. Season 6 they’ll meet Jesus, Ezekiel and do the A Larger World story, Negan will be introduced and kill a major character (Daryl?) in episode 8, 2nd half will be Something to Fear, and all of Season 7 will be All Out War.

If the programme is an 18 kids shouldn’t be watching it, they shouldn’t make the program children friendly, I don’t understand how there can be violence and they say the n@#$ word but can’t swear? True blood is on at the same time with the same rating?

They can swear (the n-word is a swear, if you ask me), but there is a limit to how much & how often & what type of content to be aired. The content is regulated by the FCC & then further determined by the specific network. AMC puts out such good stuff because they are right at the line.
True Blood is on a premium: HBO.

He’s on the road to being the ultimate badass and you need battle scars to get there. Sorry Carl, that pretty face has to go!

I’d say it’s a 100% chance the Hunters show up, because I consider the people in Terminus to obviously be them. Also somebody commented about Bob being the person with the “tainted meat” and I think that’s fairly accurate, it did seem like Bob suffered a bite at the end of the season. I wonder if they’ll move on from Terminus or if that will replace Alexandria? And if they do decide to move on, will they meet up at the farm again?

I can’t see Show Maggie attempting what Comic Maggie did, even if Glenn dies before her. They are different characters….maybe not quite as different than Carol’s or Andrea’s characters, but different enough that I don’t believe Show Maggie would be so weak to go that route.

I think a few of these are irrelevant because the show already took part of it. For example lizzie was ben and merle lost his hand instead of rick and Hershel lost his head instead of Tyreese. They are more than capable of doing all of these like negan will probably smash someone’s head in but it might not be Glenn. Thats the great thing about the show it gives you these moments in a different and shocking way. Also there is already swearing in the show

    1. They still have a chance of doing the suicide pact. They could use Sasha instead of Julia or even Tyreese himself. I guess it would be Sasha and Bob? Maybe it’s Sasha and Tyreese? Who knows. But I would like to see it in there. Not sure AMC would allow suicide in the show though.

    2. Well, Rick’s hand is not going anywhere. They already said it would cost too much to cg it out every episode.

    3. I guarantee with will see the battle with the Hunters. Just not sure the Hunters are who everyone thinks they are. I really think the Hunters are the group with Beth. (See trailer)

    4. Eugene’s lie will be exposed. But not until they get to Alexandria which we know will happen because of all the spoiler pics of the set construction.

    5. End of Carl’s innocence? It’s coming. We see it as he stares at his father killing the guy who almost rapes him. We hear in the conversation he had with Michonne (about being a monster). It will be a pivotal moment for sure. I don’t think he’ll lose the eye. Again, cost too much to CG that in every episdoe.

    6. Negan’s debut will happen. It’s another obstacle the survivors come across. It’s the action we all crave for. Yeah, it’s gonna happen.

    7. If they bring out Negan, war will come. ‘Nuff said.

I just wish I was down in Atlanta now so I could audtition to be Olivia. Just read her description, yeah, that’s me.

I’ve always thought the show should be one 2 hour episode each month so we only have to wait a month for a new episode instead of 6 months in between seasons. That way we get 24 hours of content per season instead of 16. But then I guess the actors wouldn’t be able to do anything outside of the show. Or maybe a one hour episode every 2 weeks for the full year?

I can’t wait for them to introduce Negan in the show. I do wonder how they are going to handle him on the ? Hopefully they just let Negan be Negan but I highly doubt that. I also wonder if he is going to be the one to kill Glenn or if another character is going to get Glenn’s comic book death? When it comes to Carl this is sick but I would love for him to get his eye shot out like he does in the comics because it kinda defines his character. I think that that happening is more likely than Rick losing his hand because it just seems like it would be easier for the crew to pull off from a cosmetic point of view.

Everything that happens in the comics happens in the show, just not to the same people. Merle’s already lost a hand. Rick won’t, although maybe he’ll lose an eye instead of Carl. Glenn dies in the comic, but I don’t think he’s going to die in the show, at least not yet. I think it’ll be Daryl.

The characters that appear in the TV show are combinations of characters that are in the comic that don’t appear in the TV show.
