Critically Acclaimed Adult-Animated Series Earns Early Season Six Renewal Announced Today at Annecy International Animation Film Festival

Los Angeles – June 24, 2026Skybound Entertainment, the creator-first, multiplatform entertainment studio behind globally recognized franchises including The Walking Dead, Impact Winter, and Stillwater, is celebrating a milestone achievement for its critically acclaimed IP Invincible. As announced today in the Prime Video Studio Focus panel at Annecy International Animation Film Festival featuring co-creator Robert Kirkman, the adult-animated superhero series has been renewed for a sixth season on Prime Video ahead of the 2027 debut of season five. With six seasons confirmed, Skybound’s Invincible is poised to become the longest-running animated original series on Prime Video and one of the longest-running animated original series on a streaming platform.

Created in 2003 by Robert Kirkman and Cory Walker, and joined later by contributing creator Ryan Ottley, the award-winning Invincible comic series ran for 15 years in collaboration with Image Comics, spanning 146 issues and selling more than 6 million copies. Since its 2021 debut on Prime Video, Invincible has expanded its global reach, with the animated series now available in more than 240 countries and territories. Season Four debuted in March to a third consecutive 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes and became the most-watched season of the series to date. Shortly after the season concluded, Skybound launched Invincible VS, the first major video game set in the Invincible universe, which reached more than 1 million players within two weeks of release.

“One of the biggest rewards of building Invincible over the years has been witnessing how new audiences continue to connect with these characters and this world, almost 25 years after its creation,” said Kirkman. “This renewal is as much a testament to the passion of our fans as it is to the talented teams bringing the series to life, including longtime supervising directors Shaun O’Neill and Dan Duncan, who have done so much behind the scenes to make Invincible a success, and will now help us continue to grow as executive producers. There’s still so much story left to tell, and I can’t wait for fans to see what’s ahead in seasons 5, 6 and beyond.”

The continued expansion of Invincible reflects Skybound’s broader growth as a multiplatform entertainment company. In recent years, Skybound has expanded its in-house capabilities across animation, interactive entertainment and franchise development, with studios including Invincible series co-producer Skybound Animation and game developer Quarter Up, creating new opportunities to support original stories at a much greater scale.

“We founded Skybound on the idea of investing in original stories with the creative depth and flexibility to thrive across every medium, and the enduring relevance of Invincible across comics, television, video games and more is a reflection of that,” said David Alpert (DA), co-founder and CEO of Skybound Entertainment. “We don’t grow an IP for growth’s sake; we look for bold ideas that can support the ecosystem we want to build around them. That’s why franchises like Invincible continue to have such a broad cultural impact and lasting success.”

Starring Steven Yeun, Sandra Oh, J.K. Simmons and Gillian Jacobs, Invincible’s voice cast also includes Seth Rogen, Walton Goggins, Jason Mantzoukas, Aaron Paul, Jack Quaid, Zazie Beetz, Grey DeLisle, Zachary Quinto, Chris Diamantopoulos, Ross Marquand, Khary Payton, Andrew Rannells, Kevin Michael Richardson, Ben Schwartz, Clancy Brown, Jay Pharoah, Mark Hamill, and Melise Jow. The series is produced by Skybound Entertainment’s animation studio Skybound Animation. The executive producers are Kirkman, Alpert, Simon Racioppa, Margaret M. Dean, Cory Walker, Dan Duncan, Shaun O’Neill, Catherine Winder, Seth Rogen, and Evan Goldberg. Helen Leigh is co-executive producer.

Additional details for Invincible seasons 5 and 6 will be announced at a later date.
