I recreated the scene like the comic but in the television version. So, in the drawing. You see Rick Grimes from the TV and Terminus too. Plus, This is my favorite artwork in the comic. This scene come from issue 67.

          • Bastet July 7, 2014 at 5:43 am

Lol! I went to see that X-Men movie. Did you stay after the credits when you went?

          • ThatEpicBeast U Know July 7, 2014 at 6:07 am

Nope, sadly. My friend was in a big damn rush to go home. But what happened.

          • Bastet July 7, 2014 at 6:48 am

They showed a new character at the end. I wanted to see if you knew who it was. I don’t wanna spoil it for anyone else.

          • Ronan Barrett July 7, 2014 at 2:22 pm

I know who it is. Are you excited for the next movie?

          • Bastet July 7, 2014 at 5:31 pm

If it involves the X-Men and/or Wolverine, I’m hyped up about it!

          • Ronan Barrett July 7, 2014 at 6:08 pm

Do you like any other Marvel comics or comics in general?

          • Bastet July 7, 2014 at 6:17 pm

I’m just getting into comics, although my son & I have been big fans of X-Men/Wolvie & I have a pile of various X-Men comics laying around. My son likes to read them but is not really keeping up with any series. I read TWD,Sheltered, Mind the Gap, & just started on the new Outcast. I have read several issues of Chew but dropped off of that to pick up on one of the others.

            How about you?

          • Ronan Barrett July 7, 2014 at 6:26 pm

I’m a diehard marvel fan since I was in kindergarten and have just recently expanded to comics like the walking dead. I regularly read Amazing Spider-man, Walking dead (of course), Original Sin and am currently catching up on all of the great Marvel story arcs like the dark phoenix, Skrull and Kree war, and days of future past.

          • Bastet July 7, 2014 at 6:33 pm

Read any of the Marvel Zombies?

          • Ronan Barrett July 7, 2014 at 6:36 pm

I’ve read some issues of the series but not all of it. Did you read the Avengers VS X-men story arc?

          • Bastet July 7, 2014 at 6:52 pm

No, what we have is sporadic. We have a few Wolverine Origins but other than that, it’s a handful of single issues. TWD opened up a different world for me, so I have thought about expanding further, like you did. Prior to TWD, I was strictly a novel reader.

          • Ronan Barrett July 7, 2014 at 7:00 pm

What novels do you read? I read fantasy novels like Lord of the rings and game of thrones and I am trying to read as many classics as possible. I’ve currently read Dracula, Frankenstein, treasure island, war of the worlds, and many others.

          • Bastet July 7, 2014 at 7:19 pm

I was once strictly Stephen King (of whom I collect). I’ve read a few others like Ed Gorman & John Saul. I love Dan Brown (Da Vinci Code). I did a chronological read of Anne Rice & fell in love with vampires (no, not Twilight love). I like Guillermo del Toro’s The Strain trilogy & looking out for more novels from him. The scarier and/or gorier, the better! A few years back, I binged on the classics. Lord of the Flies & Count of Monte Cristo are two others besides the ones you mentioned that stood out to me. Then, of course, there’s these TWD novels…are you reading them?

          • Ronan Barrett July 7, 2014 at 7:38 pm

I tried to find them in my local bookshop (if you can call an hour away local) but they were sold out. I’ve tried online but shipping is always so expensive. The first Stephen King book I read was Under the dome because the show was too slow for my liking but I liked the idea. The first chapter had to be the biggest shock because it went straight into Junior killing that girl. I’m not sure about you but I do think some of Stephen King’s endings are a bit rushed or awkward. what do you think of Stephen King’s endings?

          • Bastet July 8, 2014 at 4:09 am

I feel ya on the local bookshop… two national shops closed down….they & the comic shops were/are an hour away from me. So I rely on internet shopping for reading material. I was gonna refer you to Amazon but I see you’re in Australia. Sorry! You guys have such a tough time with this US stuff!

As for King’s endings, yeah, I agree with you on some. I think he gets an idea in his head for a great story, sits down & cranks it out, then puts it down for a while before he gets to the ending. Then when he eventually comes back to it, he’s lost a bit of enthusiasm with it. I feel this in some of his works, but not all. There are a few stories that his wife pulled out of the trash can & hounded him about finishing. His earlier novels are more “put together” than the newer stuff, if you ask me.

          • Ronan Barrett July 8, 2014 at 5:48 am

Yeah its kind of crap living in Australia. We don’t even have Netflix and the only cable company in the country charges ludicrous prices. I’m talking between $45-$120 per week! But of course it has its pros like free hospitals, medicare and such but that’s all about to change because of the stupid prime minister we have. Have you heard of him?

          • Bastet July 8, 2014 at 6:19 am

I’ve read bits & pieces about him, but I have to be honest…I dive into the news & then I pull back when it feels like overload (especially on politics). The latest of what I read deals with environmental, not healthcare. It’s a shame if you’re about to lose those pros….here, healthcare is a big deep pocket with quite a few hands in it.

          • Ronan Barrett July 8, 2014 at 4:24 pm

Yeah the news can get pretty overwhelming. What is it like living in America?

          • Bastet July 8, 2014 at 5:18 pm

That’s a good question & you’d probably get a different answer from almost every person you ask! As with most anywhere else, it has it’s good points & it’s downsides. It also depends on where you live in the US as to what your opinion would be. This, we’d have to break down in sub conversations, lol! For me, on the whole, I’d be really curious & willing to see how life is across the water….mainly people’s mannerisms toward one another.

          • Ronan Barrett July 8, 2014 at 6:25 pm

Over here in Australia it is pretty different to America. For instance we don’t say “I’m good” but instead say “I’m right”. There are also misconceptions that a lot of foreign people believe such as we always greet each other with g’day (personally I’ve never used the word) and another big one is “throw a shrimp on the barbie”. In Australia our population is quite small compared to other countries so our cities are nothing compared to New York, Jakarta, etc.. but its not ludicrously small. People’s opinions are different depending on what area you live in. The people who live in the city are usually accepting of immigrants while country folk can be a bit racist towards immigrants. Many people watch the walking dead but don’t bother getting into the comics (some don’t even know they were based off comics!). Australia is largely influenced by America than any other country. I hope that answered any questions you had about Australia. In America, how are Australians seen as?

          • Bastet July 8, 2014 at 7:08 pm

Here, the dialect, as well as the prejudice/racism changes from one state to the next. I live in the South, so we are the ones who brought “Y’all” into the English dictionary. Racism is out in the open here, whereas there are other areas where you’d never know how a person feels. We are obsessed with sports (my family isn’t) and it’s unreal what people do and how much money they spend to enjoy sports. There are large cities, in states where you can drive for miles that seem endless, and then tiny towns that have one street and maybe 2 businesses. I’ve been in places where the people looked/acted like they were straight out of the movie The Hills Have Eyes and then other places an hour away where the people had an air about them as if they were part of the Royal Family of England.

You guys are the Crocodile Dundees that say, “G’day, mate. Let’s throw a shrimp on the barbie!” LMAO!! Then there’s always the outback….we think about the animals. There are a lot of programs on TV about your animals. That’s pretty much it.

          • Ronan Barrett July 8, 2014 at 7:25 pm

In Australia we consider Americans are extremely patriotic, coach potatoes, and all the other stereotypes that you see. But we are thankful for bringing us things like Fast food, big name movie stars, TV shows like walking dead, The Simpsons and for getting rid of Mel Gibson for us!

          • Bastet July 9, 2014 at 4:57 am

We’re definitely fat-n-lazy & always looking for the quick & easy way to fix the health problems that come with it!

You can take Mel Gibson back. We’ll keep Hugh Jackman tho…he’s irreplaceable! There’ll never be another Wolverine! Speaking of replacing long-standing actors for a character, who do you like as a better Spidey…Tobey Maguire or Andrew Garfield? How about the movies themselves?

What was Stan Lee like in person? I had planned to go to a comic con earlier this year where he was on a panel, but the price just to sit in on that panel was out of my league! 160 (your dollar)

          • Ronan Barrett July 9, 2014 at 6:10 am

Good question! I prefer Toby Maguire because he portrayed the peter parker that I grew up with (the super nerdy one) and the portrayal of other characters was absolutely awesome (I’m looking at you JJ and Ock) but Spider-man 3 was a real shocker. I didn’t really like the Amazing spider-man series to begin with. Mainly because the origin story took too long and the lizard I thought looked stupid. Amazing Spider-man 2 was a make or break thing with the series for me but it was better than I expected. I enjoyed the comic style to it and the ending was such an awesome homage to that famous comic (won’t spoil it for anyone who hasn’t seen it).
I’m guessing you looked at my google+ user picture. I met him at pop culture convention called Supanova in Sydney. It was his last international tour so I couldn’t miss it. I bought a special ticket which cost $280AUS and It included stuff like early entry, autograph, photo with him, etc. I didn’t really get to talk to him due to massive lines (over 50,000 people!). On the day I was dressed as symbiote Spider-man and when I said hi to him at the Photo booth he replied “Oh, hey spidey!” That was pretty cool. I went to his Q and A session where he talked about the creation of spider-man, his cameos, and the like. He was so honest with almost anything and it was a treat to listen to him. One of the stories he told was the reason why he didn’t have a cameo in X-men days of future past. He said that the reason why was because Fox wanted to make more money because people like us would try to look for him and when the movie is over we will think we missed his cameo so we would buy another ticket! It was a great day and it was a shame that one of my souvenirs was stolen when I was in the photo booth. I contacted Supanova directly and because their was only 2000 in the world they have decided to give me a poster with all of the guests signatures on it (includes Stan Lee, John Barrowman, and over 60 others!). You still have a chance to meet Stan Lee and if you have the opportunity you should seize it with both hands! Who is the most famous person you have met?

          • Bastet July 9, 2014 at 6:52 am

I like Maguire as Peter Parker but I prefer Garfield in the Spidey suit. I’m like you… the first movie with Garfield was better than I expected (I was sold on Maguire only…no change in actors) & I was a little disappointed with the second one. I also agree that the casting for the Maguire movies were great! Jamison was spot on….I even loved the sandman.

I totally missed the absence of Stan Lee’s cameo in X-Men! I don’t know how in the world I missed that, now that you mention it!

I haven’t met anyone as famous as Stan Lee. I was serving in a restaurant (my 1st job) when James Brown, the soul singer walked in. Luke from 2 Live Crew also came in that restaurant. I’m a car nut, so I’ve seen the designer Chip Foose several times, shook his hand, & got autographs & a sketch of a car on a T-shirt (he’s got a show on TV: Overhaulin’). I shook the hand of Mr. Edelbrock at a car show. I spoke to the wrestler Buff Bagwell at another car show. So I guess collectively, that’s not too bad. I live about 2.5 hours away from where TWD is being shot, so I’d love to go camp out near there in the hopes that I could run into ANYONE from the show!

          • Ronan Barrett July 9, 2014 at 6:15 pm

My dad watches Overhaulin and he would be ecstatic to meet Chip! You should one day try and audition as one of the extras for the walking dead! Wouldn’t be funny to get killed by one of the main characters! LOL!

          • Bastet July 9, 2014 at 6:22 pm

Tell your dad Chip is a great guy…just like what he sees on TV. Nice, easy-going fella! He puts on a car show right outside of Atlanta every year for a children’s charity & we go to support him when we can. On that trip, I pass by 15 minutes down the road from Senoia, the heart of TWD. I’d LOVE to be an extra…. hell, I’d be a live prop if they wanted me to…just to say I was a part of it! A friend of a buddy was a walker in one of the early seasons. I’m jealous.

How soon before you’ve got your hands on issue 129?

          • Ronan Barrett July 9, 2014 at 6:31 pm

I’ve got the series reserved at my local comic book shop but it may be a week or so before I’m able to get my hands on it.

          • Bastet July 9, 2014 at 6:56 pm

Damn, I’m sorry to hear that! I have to get the digital because the local comic shops–an hour’s drive away–either don’t deliver or they charge an arm & a leg. There’s eBay, but the issues are no less than double the cover price on the day of release. Maybe one day, I’ll go back & fill in the gaps with whatever printed issues I can get my hands on.

          • Ronan Barrett July 9, 2014 at 7:48 pm

My comic book shop is an hour away also so I wait until I have a couple of comics to pick up. The comic book shop that I go to has awesome service and they love to have a chat. I don’t really buy digital comics unless they are free. Yeah, It can be pretty hard when the comic book shop can’t get the specific comic in for you. I usually try this shop called King’s comics which are really good. Over here comics are usually really expensive due to shipping costs (the mark up is 2.2 times the American price). How is your “local” comic book shop?

          • Bastet July 10, 2014 at 10:07 am

I’ve only been in the “local” shops just a few times…enough to count on one hand. 2 out of 3 weren’t so friendly, watching me as if I was gonna tuck something under my shirt & walk out with it or completely ignoring me altogether, which kinda unnerves me as a customer. The third, which is a super large shop, has some really cool people….it’s where I go for Free Comic Book Day (you guys do that?). But they’re the ones that don’t ship subscriptions. All of the single issues I have come from eBay, except for the Specials. I would LOVE to have an online mail order subscription but the only series I’m interested in having the printed issues is TWD & the subs work only when you have more than one title. My other titles are strictly digital, except for one that I simply bought the 1st volume for.

I cut my teeth on the Walking Dead hardcovers. When it came time to move on to the single issues to get caught up, it was a mess! This site was about to throw a party for me when I was finally able to join the Discussion section!

How long have you been reading TWD?

          • Ronan Barrett July 10, 2014 at 5:07 pm

That’s pretty hard when the comic book shop doesn’t even trust its customers. I think I’ve only had that happen in a large supermarket. I go to Free comic book day every year at my “local” comic book shop and its awesome! Its great seeing people get dressed up and the store is really small so you have to be banked up against a wall to let other people through. Luckily my comic book shop does ship out comics but I’ve only had to do that once.
I started reading the Walking dead only 6 months ago! I heard of the show before the comic and when I found out they were having this 3 day marathon of all 3 seasons I convinced my family to watch it with me and now my family are addicted. I decided to start reading the comics because they seemed really good and it might help me branch out to other comics. The first issue I bought was a digital copy of issue #1. It almost turned me off reading it because it was so similar. I persisted and ultimately in 1 month got up to the most recent issue. I contacted my comic book shop and I now have a reserved issue each month.

          • Bastet July 10, 2014 at 5:32 pm

I watched the show from day one. I was flipping through channels, had seen the previews, nothing was on, and so I parked it. Wasn’t all that into zombies. I was immediately hooked…and I’m not into TV series at all. I have only missed one ep on the night that it aired & I caught back up the following Sunday. I started in on the comic during the back half of Season 2. Found this site the week that it went live. Been a DeadHead ever since!

You ever use your G+ to chat?

          • Ronan Barrett July 10, 2014 at 5:59 pm

I found this website about 3 months ago or something. I’ve been enjoying the sense of community here (No one I know reads the comics or is nerdy in any way).
No I have never used my G+ account to chat with anyone and I don’t intend to do so due to cyber safety and you never know what the people you meet online are truly like.

          • Bastet July 11, 2014 at 4:12 am

Same here…not many people I can talk to face-to-face about TWD or any other comics. That’s why I’m a heavy hitter on this site. This site has plenty of fly-bys & the occasional troll but there is a pretty large group of us that have established the community here. There’s a smaller group of us that load the threads up with BS sometimes & we wish other people would get involved. It’s a lot of fun!

I completely understand your thoughts on chatting. I’ve never used Facebook or Twitter (that shocks the hell out of everybody) & wouldn’t have a Google account if it wasn’t for being forced to have it with the cell phone. I don’t like sharing any private info…even the ones I do chat with don’t even know my name, lol! However, I have found it to be fun & a good time waster & sometimes a relief from the real world. With that being said, if you ever change your mind, all you gotta do is post something to me…same way you posted to the public. It’s shared privately. I had to offer because you are fun & easy to talk to…but if you wanna keep it right here instead, I’m not going anywhere & it’s cool.

Now, on to a question for ya….. in the Days of Future Past movie, Professor X is alive & well…. how can that be, given how The Last Stand ended? Is he in another body but we’re just seeing his old image in order to ID him? Did it go down like this somewhere in the comics? I’ve been trying to wrap my mind around that ever since I saw the movie.

          • Ronan Barrett July 11, 2014 at 6:12 am

Yeah this website is really good for chatting to people with similar interests. Another good place to chat to people like us are pop culture conventions. I’ve only attended a hand full but people are always so nice to talk too and it makes waiting in lines for hours fly by!
Now that question is really difficult even for a diehard fan like myself. The days of future past comic started with Kitty Pride as a servant of the Sentinels. She met up with wolverine (who was apart of a Canadian resistance group) and they devised a plan to get rid of the sentinels. They met up with some other X-men (which did not include Prof X) and they sent Kitty back to warn the X-men that Mystique would kill the Anti-Mutant activist Robert Kelly. The X-men stop Mystique and save Kelly’s life. This played out in the movie differently of course with Wolverine going back instead of Kitty and Prof X, Storm, colossus, and more already dead in the comic, etc… The movies are very different to the comics in many ways. e.g Jean Grey is possessed by an intergalactic force called the phoenix and given awesome power instead of it being all in her head. The only thing that I can recall that may hint at how Charles survived is that the Charles that died wasn’t Charles at all but someone else (forget the name) who filled in for him while he addressed important matters. That is the only explanation that I can give but be warned, this is only a theory and they always change stuff in the movie to make sense to the general public without getting them confused.
Whew! I hope that helped. On another topic, what do you think of Magna and her group?

          • Bastet July 11, 2014 at 6:51 am

When the cover for 127 was released, I was really hoping for Lilly! Now I’m glad it wasn’t….someone new added to the mix was a great choice!

I’m intrigued with Magna, who seems to have as much wits about her as Rick. She could make an awesome leader…. as well as a fantastic enemy! At first, I was thinking that we haven’t had a female antagonist, so that could be interesting. Now, I’m leaning more towards her being good & maybe even possibly replacing Rick until Carl takes over. One thing that really pulled me into this comic is that I cannot predict it! I like that!

How ’bout you? What do you think? How do you feel about this connection between Negan & Carl? You’ve been “hanging back” as far as the discussions go.

I remember one of my first posts to this website was about if the woman on the cover of #127 was Lily. Good times, good times… Magna seems like she is battered and has gone through alot.I’m not sure if I can trust her yet but hopefully we will see more of her this issue. Rick for me has started to become kind of a boring character because he just doesn’t have that edge that I associated him with. Magna seems like she has that edge so it would be pretty cool if she took over. The relationship between Negan and Carl was pretty cool and unexpected. I would of like to of seen something where Negan gains Carl’s trust and busts him out of there. I think in the end Magna will bust Negan out due to not knowing the context of the situation between Rick and Negan.

Oh, you gotta get your hands on this latest issue & come back here & let me know what you think!!! It’s the best issue so far of the 3 in this arc!

          • Ronan Barrett July 12, 2014 at 5:19 pm

I’m getting the issue today! (Tonight for you in the states) and I’ll be able to give my opinion on it tomorrow.

          • Ronan Barrett July 13, 2014 at 12:44 am

I just read issue 129 and it was really good. The issue didn’t seem to trudge along but went at a quick and steady pace. It was a shock to see Rick’s backlash at that soldier. It makes sense though because Rick has worked for years to make the dream society that he has created work and he doesn’t want any one to stuff it up. It wasn’t a surprise to see Magna found Negan and now she will probably break him out because she doesn’t know they context to the reason why Negan is locked up in there. I kind of hope Negan gets out but I would also like Magna to be smarter than that. What did you think of the issue and what do you think will happen next?

          • Bastet July 13, 2014 at 7:55 am

I really liked this issue. Thought it was better that the previous two. I also hopes Negan gets out, for the sake of a good story, but if Kirkman writes it to where Magna immediately springs Negan from jail, I’ll be pretty disappointed. I wrote a little bit more on my thoughts in the Discussion thread.

I saw Transformers yesterday, have you seen that yet? I didn’t think I’d be all that interested in seeing Guardians of the Galaxy but the trailer I saw looks awesome! You read that comic?

          • Ronan Barrett July 13, 2014 at 4:50 pm

I saw Transformers about a week ago. It was an absolute train wreck! The script was awful, extreme patriotism, and last but not least, WAY TOO MANY EXPLOSIONS FOR YOUR OWN GOOD! But it was a good time waster.
Guardians of the galaxy looks awesome! I’ve only read the a couple of issues but they definitely capture the essence of the comic into what I’ve already seen. In the comics, the guardians of the galaxy have teamed up with heroes like Iron man, winter soldier, and more recently… Venom! (Flash Thompson version).

I noticed you never have submitted a piece of art yet…. hm….

          • Bastet July 7, 2014 at 6:51 am

I’ve done some sketches way back in the past that I thought were pretty good. I can’t draw anything anymore… can barely write, due to muscular atrophy in my hand. But I do like manipulating images, the same way you doctored up issue 129.

          • ThatEpicBeast U Know July 7, 2014 at 6:56 am

Yeah… that 129 was something right? You a lefty or righty?

          • Bastet July 7, 2014 at 7:47 am

I’m actually ambidextrous…. but it depends on what I’m doing…I write with my right, clean with my left, hold eating utensils with my right, shoot pool with my left. You’re a South Paw, aren’t ya?

Here’s a few sketches of mine– The first is my rendition of a commission by Tony Moore, then an unfinished sketch of the issue #28 cover. After that is a drawing of The Governor from the show in a comic sort of style; and finally a portrait of Abe that was my first attempt at inking anything. Please be kind! LOL

Congrats to you Cheryl for winning for weekend challenge and I hope you enjoy your books. I’m not mad. I’m just little disappointed but not for winning for the weekend challenge. To be honest, I didn’t want to win this challenge because I already brought the SDCC 129 online. I just want to recreate my favorite scene from the comic and this was the perfect challenge to do it. Thank you Lizzy so much. I actually feel like a winner because of the likes and comments on my sketch.

LET ME GET INTO THE POINT why I’m little disappointed. I’m disappointed what you said Lizzy. The challenge was recreated a scene from a comic or TV before Monday morning. You said this to the winner. “recreate of the cover”. That confuses me. A scene and cover are two completely different words. Comic cover can describe the scene in the book but this cover did not describe a scene in its own issue. May did describe a scene in the last issue. #127. A comic cover is meant for giving the reader hint what is going to happen in the issue. Scene and cover are not the same thing… The challenge was not recreated a cover from the comic. the challenge was recreating a scene from the Comic or TV.

At least, make up another page and giving away make up awards to the people who participate in this challenge like the one weekend challenge “Rick right hand weekend challenge”. I thought that was pretty cool what Brain did. There were a lot of cool recreated scenes in this challenge. I think, they deserve something honestly.

I’m sorry if I open my big mouth.

First of all, those of you complaining because you didn’t win, shame on you for being poor sports.

Secondly, those of you complaining, did drawings! It clearly says in the description that they wanted a “photo.” Not once does it say drawing/sketch. Maybe they need to word things better but I took it to mean that “you” act out a scene and take a “photo” of it.

And lastly, yeah, okay, covers don’t necessary tell part of the story but it is still a “scene” that is suppose to grab your attention to make you want to read the comic book.

I’m disappointed in my fellow competitors.
