How Will Season 4 End?

We’ve heard a lot of theories about how Season 4 will end, from Twitter, Facebook, and online communities like RoamersAndLurkers and r/thewalkingdead. So we decided to list off some of the most popular predictions we’ve spotted across the web. If we’re missing your favorite theory, make sure you comment below! Over the next two Sundays, we’ll see who was right…!

Prediction: Joe’s group are The Hunters, but Daryl doesn’t realize until they run into one of the groups of survivors… and try to eat them.

Reasoning: Clearly they’re villains, and they’re carrying around hunting equipment. Looks pretty shady…

Prediction: Everyone regroups at Terminus and then Rick and Abraham collide as Abe tries to steer them to Washington, DC.

Reasoning: After the prison falls in the comics, all of the characters regroup at Hershel’s farm and the Rick-Abe struggle begins. Ending the season on a “We’re off to Washington!” beat would also add a note of finality to this season.

Prediction: Everyone reunites at Terminus and they think they’re safe… until someone gets picked off by The Hunters!

Reasoning: The Hunters target Dale and kidnap him in the comics while the group is holed up in a church. Wouldn’t it make sense to lure people to one place and then pick them off from there?

Prediction: The survivors meet up with Beth and Father Gabriel at Terminus, which is actually Gabriel’s Church from the comics.

Reasoning: The car that potentially kidnapped Beth had a cross on the back, ergo Gabriel, and Terminus clearly has resources (maps, radio broadcasting) and might be a stand in for the town where the group temporarily settles in the comics.

Prediction: Terminus is abandoned and destroyed when the first group arrives, but the question is… who destroyed it?

Reasoning: Terminus might have been a sanctuary for all at one point, but of course it’s just too good to be true.

Starting to get scared….. IDK how AMC and Raleigh studios will re create/get the rights to film in washington DC/CGI the whitehouse…… Maybe the reason for Terminus is because we arnt going to DC at all, which would be really disheartening but wouldnt surprise me 🙁

    • Gregarious Raptopoulos March 21, 2014 at 6:21 pm - Reply

They could totally bypass Washington DC and go straight to Alexandria VA. Heading to DC is the only really important element of the plot, not actually arriving there.

    • Cheryl Anne March 21, 2014 at 10:07 pm - Reply

Are they going to film in VA? That would be awesome! Then I could be an extra!

    • B3gillin March 22, 2014 at 3:30 am - Reply

IMDB has the synop of first ep of season 5 saying they go to Washington D.C. for a while now but who knows how factual that is.

    • 2YourScatteredBodies . March 22, 2014 at 8:29 am - Reply

IMDB is notorious for having incorrect information. For example, they had Carol’s husband Ed listed as being in Season 3 Episode 1, which we all know he was not. That synopsis for season 5 has been up since before the midseason finale of Season 4, when IMDB had episode titles and descriptions that all turned out to be wrong. Anyone can edit IMDB listings.

Well… Daryl will get killed By Negan… and those guys are another group… Indeed they will meet the hunters on Terminus… but just saying.. Daryl’s group isn’t the hunters…

  3. Chad Spiegel March 21, 2014 at 5:11 pm - Reply

I think, by the end of the season, that the group members that have headed to Terminus will arrive… but we won’t get to see what “Terminus” is until next season lol. As far as Joe’s groups goes, I’m thinking these guys will be around for quite a while, and won’t resemble either the marauders or the hunters but will be a combination of both with a few twists along the way. As far as the story line goes, and as a reader of the comic, this show always surprises me.

    • Michael Lewellyn March 21, 2014 at 5:25 pm - Reply

(Spoiler) In Episode 415 “Us” Abe, Rosita, Eugene, Glenn, Tara, Maggie, Bob and Sasha all make it to Terminus… we’re a lady named Mary asks if they want food so we see a tid-bit in Season 4.

  4. Gregarious Raptopoulos March 21, 2014 at 6:17 pm - Reply

Mostly everyone meets at Terminus. It’s a seemingly welcoming community, until people start to mysteriously turn up missing as food mysteriously arrives for the community.

    • Daniel Boyer March 22, 2014 at 11:18 pm - Reply

I expect that Terminus is the hunters…so they probably are not…it would be too obvious…wouldn’t it?

But if it is the hunter’s…totally expect “Bob” to be the first to disappear…(unless Beth’s disappearance, turns out to be their first)

      • Gregarious Raptopoulos March 23, 2014 at 11:14 pm - Reply

After seeing tonight’s episode, I have no doubt Terminus is the hunters. They are greeted by Mary, who is cooking meat on a bbq. One of the season finale previews even shows a very quick clip of what appears to be Rick in some sort of cell. I don’t think it will be Bob that’s up on the chopping block; his character is just starting to get really interesting. Someone who was alive in the comic at the beginning of 4.2 is supposed to die before the season is up. I’m thinking it’s probably Maggie or Rosita. Possibly Eugene if they need a reason to avoid heading to DC on the show. Of course Daryl will show up and “do something” to save the day. That’s when things get interesting and the guy from Daryl’s group recognizes Rick.

        • Daniel Boyer March 24, 2014 at 12:53 am - Reply

after watching tonight’s episode (415)…and the sneak peek that followed…I definitely think Beth was captured by the folks at Terminus…and, I agree…they sure appear to be the hunters…

any thoughts I had, that Joe and his group that met up with Daryl being part of Terminus…ended with this episode…those guys are just some random dudes…

          • Gregarious Raptopoulos March 24, 2014 at 9:24 am

I actually think Joe’s group will somehow be associated with the Saviors down the road, which I honestly think is within a season from now. Joe’s ideals about rules keeping the group alive sound a lot like how Negan talks about rules.

  5. Greg March 21, 2014 at 6:32 pm - Reply

This is my prediction. This prediction can be in the next episode on Sunday or the end.

Joe and his gang will find Rick, Carl and Michonne sleeping somewhere and they will ambush them but Daryl will take Joe and his gang out.

  6. Pablo Martínez Dutra March 21, 2014 at 6:51 pm - Reply

The last prediction is the best one. And I think that Beth was abducted (saved from the walkers in the funeral home) by Gabriel too.

  7. Curtis Scott March 21, 2014 at 8:37 pm - Reply

Daryl ends up starting to kill off Joe’s group, and ends up escaping the rest of them and heads to Terminus.

Meanwhile, Rick & Co. arrive at Terminus to find that Beth has been abducted by Terminus’ residents (NEGAN!). Rick, Michonne, and Carl try to take Beth back, but just like what happens in the comics, Negan comes out with the upper hand and prepares to kill one of them at random, and he eventually picks Beth.

Daryl arrives just in time to volunteer himself so that Beth can be saved. The season ends with Daryl’s death, then Rick and Co. meet up with the remaining prison survivors in a town that they begin to fortify which will act as Alexandria and the war against Negan begins.

Yeah, a lot to happen in two episodes and skipping a lot of material in the comics, but I don’t see the show including the Hunters or keeping the group on the road for much longer.

    • Jamahl Carman March 22, 2014 at 3:14 am - Reply

No. Too early for Negan and Alexandria Safe Zone

      • Jason Thomas March 22, 2014 at 1:38 pm - Reply

Negan storyline should be at least a few seasons away hopefully they don’t rush it .

        • Gregarious Raptopoulos March 22, 2014 at 7:16 pm - Reply

I get the feeling Negan will at least be mentioned sometime in season 5, midseason finale or 5.2 finale as a promotional tool to get more people reading the comic. The whole Alexandria Safe Zone part of the comic was really boring up until No Way Out. They can’t drag that shit out on tv like Kirkman did in the comic. Every show gets stale after after so many seasons, which is why Breaking Bad, as great as it was, is over now.

          • Jason Thomas March 23, 2014 at 7:12 am

I was hoping they would make the storyline with The Hunters longer than they did with in the comics . To me it was the best so far and I think they could pull it off for a whole season while the group travels . I was also thinking terminus is a trap by the St. John’s Dairy Farm from the telltale game .

          • Stuart Ormston March 23, 2014 at 10:47 am

the hunters was a great run in the books one of my fav too, so i woulhope that 1)they do it justice in the show and 2) they extend it beyond a couple of episodes, really build the fear, you know.

          • Jason Thomas March 23, 2014 at 11:03 am

Yes exactly. I was surprised when I was reading the comic it ended so quickly.

          • Gregarious Raptopoulos March 24, 2014 at 11:00 am

I agree with everything you say here. I would expand and say that in the comic between the prison assault and until they reach Alexandria, combined, is the best material from the comic, with the Hunters being the highlight. They should stretch out the hunters arc on the show to compensate for the lack of interesting storyline from Alexandria before No Way Out. The story really stagnated for a while between the arrival to Alexandria and No Way Out in my opinion. I think with the way they set up Terminus, they can viably maintain the hunters arc for at least half a season or more during season 5. I just hope they don’t push too many more storylines beyond a season like they did with Woodbury/Governor. I genuinely didn’t care much for the first 3 episodes of season 4, but once “indifference” aired it just kept getting better. Season 4.2 is the best thing that’s happened to this show since season 1.Once they do reach Alexandria, unless they introduce some new exciting stories, they will have to introduce Negan pretty damn fast to keep the show from being boring like the first 3 episodes of season 4 and good chunk of season 2.

        • Scot Wharton March 24, 2014 at 9:06 pm - Reply

….I agree with you about Negan, I truly hope they don’t rush it. I also think that the Saviors and not Gabriel have Beth. A Savior vehicle could also have a cross on a car. Also, I think the next time we see Beth is going to be in Negan’s harem. Just a guess, but I could see that happening. Thoughts?

          • Jason Thomas March 25, 2014 at 4:48 am

Abraham Ford is introduced in issue #53 he was just introduced this season. Negan was not mentioned in the comic until issue #95 . I do agree that it could be a Savior vehicle but if you are right I don’t think we would see Beth for a couple seasons.

          • Scot Wharton March 25, 2014 at 2:01 pm

….I totally agree with you, if she were kidnapped by a Savior and would become a part of Negan’s harem, we wouldn’t see her for a long while. Kinda like the Sophia storyline on the show. At this point I would rather have her alive than as BBQ!

          • Jason Thomas March 25, 2014 at 2:49 pm

Yes I agree they just started really developing her character I don’t want to see her go to The Hunters or the Terminus weirdos.

      • Stuart Ormston March 22, 2014 at 2:06 pm - Reply

Agreed, to many people are in a rush to get to negan, slow down enjoy the ride that amc take us on and when “he” turns up am sute it will be awesome

  8. Brandin Brooks March 21, 2014 at 9:09 pm - Reply

**** COMIC SPOILER > Not sure about Terminus yet but I still think we need to see Rick lose his hand like in the comics. Joe’s group with Daryl in tow will clash with Rick. Daryl will either be too late to stop it or forced to swing the blade himself!

    • Daniel Boyer March 21, 2014 at 10:20 pm - Reply

I disagree with Rick ever losing a hand…I have read the Kirkman regretted doing that in the comics…

      • Brandin Brooks March 22, 2014 at 10:45 am - Reply

I did see and read interviews where Kirkman said he did not think it through enough for things he has Rick do in the comics that he would not be able to do without a hand and then have to rewrite things. But not sure I heard or read he say he regretted it. One handed Rick would be a challenge for the actor but I would love to see it still happen. I think the show may be giving Rick a rest from putting him through the. Once he finds out Judith is still alive that will lift Rick back up a bit just enough for something new to knock him back down.

      • Gregarious Raptopoulos March 23, 2014 at 11:03 pm - Reply

He also said on the Reddit AMA he did a few days ago that they are leaning away from Rick losing his hand on the show, but it’s still a completely viable option at this point in the story.

    • Gregarious Raptopoulos March 22, 2014 at 7:25 pm - Reply

If Rick loses his hand in the tv show, he will probably die shortly after. I think Rick would have to die in the comic before he dies on the tv show, which seems very likely within the next 3 issues. Someone who was still alive in the comic at the beginning of season 4.2 is going to die before the season is up according to Kirkman, so that leaves Rick, Carl, Michonne, Maggie, Eugene, and Rosita, unless he was just trolling.

Just got done watching the last episode….I’m so confused. What happened to Sophie (Rick’s baby). I think she died but how? Does anyone know what happened?

  11. Cheryl Anne March 21, 2014 at 9:59 pm - Reply

For all of you trying to kill off Daryl…The women population that is watching this show, won’t watch it anymore, except me. I’m more of a Rick fan. I don’t think the writers are that dumb to kill off a character that draws so many people into it. Thus concludes that rant.

I believe that Terminus is a bust or a Godsend. Everyone will meet there but at different times.

I watched Beth being taken away in the car again on my DVR. I paused it when you could see the back of the car. The only reason it looks like a cross in the back of the car is because of the lighting and the way the seats and headrests were situated. Whether it was done on purpose or not is unknown. With that said, I still believe she is with Father Gabriel.

Also, don’t you all think it is a little too soon for Negan to make an appearance?

Yes, I believe Daryl is with the Hunters. I am hoping he will escape them and either find the sign for Terminus or pick up the car trail for Beth.

  12. Daniel Boyer March 21, 2014 at 10:13 pm - Reply

    Spoiler Alert:

They have really been building up for the season finale…and Kirkman has said “It will be the biggest cliff hanger”…

Honestly, they have stumped me…I did not expect Terminus to be a functioning place…in Episode 415, we will learn it is a functioning place…and 3 groups will actually arrive, including a reunited Glenn and Maggie…

I was not shocked that the girls died in 414 because of what I read in the comics…and I was pleased they got it out of the way without involving Carl…

I was and am pleased baby Judith is still alive…I expect they will reunite Rick and Carl with Judith in 416…the show needs to do that before the season ends…

I expect whatever happened to Beth, to be the cliff hanger…atleast one of them…cliff hangers…

I am looking forward to seeing how the situation between Rick and Daryl’s new group finishes the season…clearly, that will be the excitement in the season finale…just hoping the show gives us more excitement than just that resolution and the reunited Rick, Carl and Judith…

7 of the back 8 have lived up to my expectations…and beyond…please do not disappoint in the finale!

    • Stuart Ormston March 22, 2014 at 1:58 pm - Reply

I just hope that its really is a good clifhanger that makes the wait till next season unbearable, and not kirkman just over hyping the whole thing. If that makes sence lol. Am sure it will be good though.

    • CantgetenoughTWD March 23, 2014 at 7:46 am - Reply

i completely agree with all your points except one i saw Lizzie killing her sister since they were talking to the walkers before the prison crashed (they were just like Ben and Billy) but i wanted Carl to have to make the decision to man up and kill her… when Carl kills Ben in the comics, it is a huge turning point for Carl… it hardens him so much… all the nights he stays up crying and the the sense between Rick and Carl..where Rick believes he is talking to Abraham and realize he just confessed all the things he was hiding from Carl and the Carl admits he killed Ben is hands down one of the best sense in the comics and i just don’t know if we are still going to get the Badass Carl like his in the comics without that changing him and i do realize he forgets it later due to the gunshot wound but he eventually kinda remembers!

    My prediction:

Rick gets shot. thats the cliffhanger.

  14. Daniel Boyer March 22, 2014 at 5:15 am - Reply

    Here’s a prediction for you…

Rick and his group find Terminus…

Joe and his group attack Rick’s group at Terminus…

Joe orders Daryl…to shoot Rick with a bolt tainted with Walker blood…

    Daryl shoots Rick with a bolt…landing in Rick’s side…

Joe says “Rick is good as dead”…after Rick is struck by Daryl’s bolt…

hmm, only I could think of such a genius outcome…maybe they should hire me to write their comics : )

  15. Bastet March 22, 2014 at 7:36 am - Reply

We’ve only got 2 more eps this season. Seems like a lot of these predictions encompass what would fit in just 2 eps. Besides, I think some things are gonna be stretched out for a while (i.e. The Gov) because we don’t want the show passing the comics. This stuff’s too good to rush anyway!

With that being said, I think we’ll see a summation of everybody drawing closer to Terminus, there will be one reunion of groups–maybe Ty/Carol & Bob/Sasha/Maggie, & the finale will leave us with a glimpse of Terminus like when we saw the prison.

    • Stuart Ormston March 22, 2014 at 2:11 pm - Reply

Terminus literally means end of the line. Our cast will never be the same with next season being constant man vs man with zombies as just sideline annoyances. Where Beth is.. That is the cliffhanger. Our prison group will be reunited but might not be able to acknowledge their friendships because of new dynamics at terminus. Please god let baby Judith survive and thrive cuz she is a ray of hope in this crazy a** world.

  17. SlipS March 22, 2014 at 11:04 pm - Reply

If i remember correctly in the Kirkman AMA he answered a question along the lines of “Are you worried that the show will catch up to the comics soon?” and Kirkman answered: “I dont think so, at least not any times soon, There is about 6 or 7 seasons of material left from the comics” ……….. i would rather see it like that and not see Negan for a couple for seasons and have him around for a good 2-3 full seasons

  18. Daniel Boyer March 22, 2014 at 11:53 pm - Reply

The scene I am most looking forward to…is Abraham telling Rick…Eugene is a scientist, and knows what caused the whole zombie gig…Rick knows the truth (from the CDC episode), unlike in the comics (the CDC gig never took place in the comics)…so how that situation plays out…I find MOST interesting…for that reason, I do not think the group ever heads to DC…I think Terminus will turn into the stronghold, that develops similar to what we have seen in the comics…

    • Bastet March 23, 2014 at 8:55 am - Reply

I thought the CDC reveal was the process of the virus (or whatever it would be classified as) & that everyone is already infected. I don’t remember hearing anything about a cause & Eugene’s stint is mostly supposed to be about working on a cure.

      • Daniel Boyer March 23, 2014 at 12:43 pm - Reply

Eugene told Abe, it is classified…Rick knows enough from the CDC episode…to know that Eugene is a line of B.S., that should ignite instant controversy when Rick meets Eugene and Abe…compared to the comic, first meeting

      • Gregarious Raptopoulos March 23, 2014 at 11:44 pm - Reply

Right. Rick didn’t really learn much about the outbreak at the CDC other than everyone is infected, they don’t know what it is, and it restarts the brain.

  26. Joshua Allen March 23, 2014 at 8:14 pm - Reply

Prediction: Terminus is home to a religious cult that has become a group of cannibals. They lure other survivors in and slaughter them. The group Daryl is with might be seeking out fresh victims to fill their coffers.
Reasoning: The car that took Beth had a large cross in the back window and she is bound to pop back up eventually. My best guess, religious extremists took her.
Glenn and Maggie’s arrival at Terminus was extremely ominous. It looked peaceful and serene on the outside. But there were no signs of life aside from one woman who was grilling some meat. I don’t recall seeing any livestock around. Nor any other survivors. Which leads me to believe that the survivors ARE the livestock.

    • Gregarious Raptopoulos March 23, 2014 at 11:34 pm - Reply

I wouldn’t read too much into a cross on the back of that car. No one is still driving their pre apocalypse cars around anymore. But I agree, Terminus is going to be the hunters/cannibals. That’s pretty much what I’ve been thinking ever since they found the first Terminus sign. It was a pretty obvious setup being greeting by someone cooking on a bbq. I don’t think Daryl’s group has anything to do with Terminus, they are just after Rick now and when they all meet up, shit is definitely going to hit the fan.

My question is, why the hell the episodes on tv are so short! They should give less commercials and more action!!!

    • Gregarious Raptopoulos March 23, 2014 at 11:28 pm - Reply

I buy episodes on Amazon instant the day after I watch them on AMC and they are consistently 42-43 minutes without commercials, just like any other cable show I buy on Amazon Instant. Commercials pay the bills and make the show better. That’s why the number of viewers every week is so important; it means more revenue. That being said, the uninterrupted Amazon version is a much more satisfying watch.

You don’t really download the episodes. You buy access to stream them then they are in your amazon instant library forever. If you have a bluray or other media player you can stream them right to your tv. I buy the season pass, which means they debit your bank account for $1.80 each week as the episodes are released. The episodes are not available to stream until Monday though. If you don’t mind the extra $1.80 per episode, it’s a great way to watch if you don’t have AMC or if you want to rewatch episodes with no commercials.

Really excited with what the show is doing right now, and the implication that Terminus is home to cannibals is pretty blatant… but I’m a bit worried about something. I’m starting to get concerned that they aren’t going to D.C. because of the difficulties of changing location so dramatically. They obviously aren’t moving the show out of Georgia (for filming), and trying to fake a D.C. setting in rural GA probably isn’t easy.

This all seems to point toward them bringing the D.C. storyline to Georgia. I really hope I’m wrong.

Ok did anyone catch the woman at Terminus said,”Let me make you a plate” not let me get you a plate. Are they what’s for dinner. It was too creepy, the unlocked gate, signs saying put down your guns down, and nobody else is there but flowers and cabbage. Welcome to Oz

I just watched sneek Peak #1 and #2 of the season finale…

Rick appears defeated…and maybe held prisoner…

I believe the screams heard in one of the sneek peaks is a set up/trap…that gets Rick caught…

I keep hearing there will be shocking brutality in the season finally…after cutting off Hershel’s head in the mid-season finally…can’t think of anything more brutal than that…but just in case…will have flowers next to the TV…

Just keep looking at the flowers…

I think it’s pretty clear that Joe and the claimers aren’t the hunter’s because when they killed Len they just dumped him. I think Mary is one of the hunters and Beth was kidnapped by Gareth, who I think is going to be a combination of Gabriel and Chris the hunter leader from the comics. When Mary offers them food–it might be beth on that girl. Ewwww…. I don’t think everything will be resolved after the finale. It’s probably going to end on a cliffhanger. One thing’s for sure though–Terminus is bad news.

My prediction in the final. In the final. The episode will focus on Joe’s group finding Rick but not the cannibals. I think the cannibals be in the next season. I think, Joe’s group was in the first half of the season but we never saw them. Remember, when the Governor wants to bandit a camp but someone beat him first. I think, it was Joe’s group ambush that camp, Like I said, “Joe and his gang will find Rick, Carl and Michonne sleeping somewhere and they will ambush them but Daryl will take Joe and his gang out” but what will stun the viewer in this episode. I think, Carl is almost getting raped by one of the Joe’s group members but Daryl will save the day or Rick will. I’m so excited for the new episode tonight.
