Four Walking Dead Actors Promoted to Series Regulars

Season 7 of The Walking Dead is only months away and we already have some good news! AMC recently announced FOUR characters will be promoted to series regulars (meaning a lot more screen time). This now increases the total to 20 series regulars (2 more than last season)…but with Negan’s cliffhanger kill in the air the number is sure to go down.

Currently, the series regulars stands at: Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Steven Yeun, Lauren Cohan, Chandler Riggs, Danai Gurira, Melissa McBride, Michael Cudlitz. Lennie James, Sonequa Martin-Green, Josh McDermitt, Alanna Masterson, Christian Serratos, Seth Gilliam, Ross Marquand, Austin Nichols, and…

Xander Berkley

Although only appearing in a single episode last season, Xander Berkley’s portrayal of arrogant Hilltop leader Gregory was VERY memorable. In the comics, his character’s questionable leadership sets off a string of events that lead to Negan’s arrival, safe zone battles, and ultimately major characters’ death. Although it remains to be seen if his Gregory will mirror the source material, his series promotion definitely means we’ll be seeing more of The Hilltop.

Austin Amelio

If you’re a Daryl fan, this probably isn’t the best news. After all, Dwight jacked Daryl’s bike and crossbow, shot him, captured him, and threw him in the Lucille circle of madness. BUT, comic Dwight proves to be a major character who’s pivotal to future events. Plus, Austin Amelio possesses amazing acting chops and whether you love him or hate him, it’ll be a hell of a ride.

Tom Payne

Jesus has risen…in the show! Tom Payne’s witty performance as Jesus got the attention of fan girls and guys alike and we can now look forward to seeing more of him! In the comics, Jesus acts as an indispensable ally who bridges the gap between Alexandria and The Hilltop. We can’t reveal his role in the upcoming season but we’re hoping for more badassery from the beanie-wearing, beard-rocking, fangirl-stealing man known as Jesus.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan

Finally, what’s The Walking Dead without its most notorious villain Negan? STILL appearing in the comics (we’re 56 issues ahead of the show) it’s no surprise that JDM was promoted to a series regular. Negan’s eeny-meeny-miney-moe game was only the beginning…expect to see a LOT more of his games and insanity as the season goes on. (No word yet on Lucille’s series promotion, but we’ll assume yes).

The new additions are fine with me. My problem is …. I will be very upset if you start the new season with Carol, Morgan and the Kingdom group. You need to start with what you ended the season with, Negan and the killing. Going back to Carol & Morgan will be the same crap you did when you left Glenn under the dumpster for several episodes before returning. Don’t screw up your fans like that again or you will start to lose rating numbers when fans turn it off. Your ratings will soar with the first episode of who Negan killed.

What about Steven Ogg? Come on, I mean this us AWESOME to have one of the most electrifying video game characters come to life! I hope to see more of “Trevor” in the upcoming season.

Some of those people appear in the main credit sequence and others are just thrown into the pre-guest star credit line-up. Yet, they’re all referred to as regulars. What’s the difference?

“Fangirl stealing” Oh damn it just stop. Jesus is gay and doesn’t like girls like that. He doesn’t deserve to be treated like this. He is such a badass and to just be lowered down to just his looks and being compared to Daryl is such a fucking insult he deserves way better.

I compared him to Daryl because Daryl has the biggest fangirl club of anybody else in the show. Insult, I know, but it’s the truth. As for fangirling over a gay character, who says someone can’t admire the looks of Jesus/Tom Payne because the character is gay? And speaking of his sexual preference, SPOILER!
