“Arrow on the Doorpost” Interview and Recaps

A little bit of a mixed reaction to last night’s episode. I think sometimes the week-long wait between episodes can be rough, it makes it difficult to have building episodes. Certainly the table had to be set where Rick’s loyalties will be tested and Michonne’s life will be put on the line. I thought it was really interesting to have the Governor kind of testing Rick’s reactions to different tactics. And we also got to see what happens when combatants spend time together and find that they don’t hate each other at all. What will happen when it all goes down?

I know some people have complained about Rick not just shooting the Governor in last nights episode, but I actually prefer it this way. I feel that would have been quite anti-climatic given the whole season has been building up to a major confrontation. Looking forward to seeing what unfolds.

I absolutely love that Hershel and Milton talked and even shared a laugh. And that Daryl and Martinez were able to ‘bond’ a bit. They realized they’re not all that different after all.

It’s a great episode. Digs into the genre of westerns pretty hard. Loved it. What I don’t love are the commercials which break up ONE scene. I could sit and watch Rick & Gov. hash it out for two hours, but with all the interruptions it sucks life away from how great this meeting is. It’s unrealistic to expect less commercials from the #1 show on TV, but I look forward to the DVD release when you can take in this episode for what it actually is.
