This year’s Walking Dead panel at New York Comic Con gave fans a full scene from The Walking Dead Premiere. Before the clip was shown, Executive Producer Greg Nicotero hinted that eagle-eyed fans would realize it’s a shot-for-shot re-creation of a scene from a past season. In case you didn’t catch it or want to see for yourself how close it mirrors the pilot, we cut together a side-by-side of the two clips. Watch below:
As you can see, the scene with Carl VERY closely mirrors the scene from The Walking Dead pilot with his father Rick. Both on their own, both scavenging for gas, both met with a potentially dangerous visitor. It doesn’t take an eagle-eyed viewer to realize the constant parallels between father and son. Carl’s forced to act more of a bold adult every day. Fans wanting to know how the scene with Carl plays out won’t have to wait long. The Walking Dead’s epic 8th season premieres October 22nd at 9PM on AMC and will be followed by a two-hour Talking Dead from the Greek Theater in Los Angeles.
