The Walking Dead Mid-Season Finale concluded with Jesus’ shocking death at the hands of a Whisperer, a member of a massive skin-wearing villain group we’ll see more of next month. After getting teased with a creepy portrait and video of their leader Alpha (played by Samantha Morton), we now have our first image from the Mid-Season Premiere:
In it, we see Michonne, Magna, Yumiko, Magna, Daryl, Eugene, and Aaron headed back towards Hilltop with Jesus’ body slumped over a horse. So what does this tell us? Well for starters, anyone still holding out hope that Jesus survived the stabbing can put that theory to bed. He dead. Also, this shows our heroes made it out of the cemetery, which last we saw was full of walkers and Whisperers alike. Good to know, I don’t think we could handle another death so soon. But that’s not to say this Jesus will be the Whisperer’s only victim, just the first…

Back in December Michonne actress Danai Gurira told US Weekly, “The Whisperers are a little harder to see coming…They’re a very new type of threat, and they bring a whole new type of issue to the floor that we’ve definitely never dealt with before.” She went on to say, “It’s not just one dude doing one thing…It’s a very different experience we’re engaged in.” Watch Gurira discuss the next villain group in greater detail below:
