The Walking Dead Wins Best Horror TV Show at The 2018 Saturn Awards

The 2018 Saturn Awards celebrated its 44th anniversary in style. The award show, which recognizes the best science fiction, horror, genre and fantasy TV and movies handed out awards to the likes of Black Panther, The Last Jedi, and yes, The Walking Dead/ We included the awards The Walking Dead received along with the full list of winners (via CNET).

This year The Walking Dead was recognized again as the Best Horror TV Show. Our zombie drama has previously won this award in 2017 and 2016, as well as Best Syndicated/Cable Television Series in 2015, 2014, 2013, and Best Presentation on Television 2012 and 2011. New showrunner Angela Kang was in attendance to accept the award with Tom Payne and Fear the Walking Dead’s Danai Garcia.


Best Younger TV Actor: Chandler Riggs

We can all agree on two things: 1) Carl’s death on The Walking Dead left a deep void in all of our souls, 2) Chandler Riggs acted his ass of in his final moments. Because of those things, Chandler got recognized as the Best Young TV Actor during this year’s awards. Riggs won this award two other times in 2016 and 2014 and was nominated in 2017 and 2015. Since leaving the show, Chandler’s been working as a DJ under the name Eclipse and will appear in the crime thriller Inherit The Viper later this year. Chandler tweeted out a pic of his new hardware here:

Walking Dead actors that have won Saturn Awards in the past include Andrew Lincoln, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Danai Gurira, Melissa McBride, and Laurie Holden. The 2018 Saturn Awards were held in Burbank, California and hosted by comedian Jonah Ray. It was created by Donald A. Reed in 1973 and is the oldest award show to celebrate horror, fantasy, and genre.

    Danai Gurira also won for Black Panther! You mentioned SMG’s non TWD award but not out own Danai.
