I love ricks pistol!!! I have a colt python too, but its blued not nickel plated, and mine has a shorter barrel. I wonder who’s in charge of supplying and delegating the firearms, and are they real or replica? and where did rick pick up that ak 47?

It’s an AK-74 that Rick is wielding in the promo pics. It also becomes his new primary weapon in the show, with the Python becoming a sidearm like it should be. The only difference being, the AK-47 Rick uses in actual filming has all black synthetic polymer furniture. I’d imagine he snags it off a Termite during the escape, but we won’t know for sure where he gets it until the premiere.

As for the weapons and props on TWD, the show’s Prop Master since season 1 has been John Sanders. He’s a very cool, knowledgeable and professional guy. He’s great at what he does. As for the firearms, most times, especially whenever there is going to be a close up on a character, and a fire arm is going to be involved in that scene, they always use the real thing. Other times, when it’s a farther and wider shot, and when safety is a concern, they will use plastic and rubber prop firearms. But, they go out of their way to try and use the real firearms loaded with blanks all the time, because they’re dedicated to authenticity.

Since you’re a Colt fan, here’s an excerpt from and interview with Sanders talking about how much Andy cherishes his Python–Q: Do you find the actors getting attached to their character’s weapons?

A: Andy [Lincoln] is very specific about the Python. He wants that gun on him every second of the day, when he can have it. He stays on set most of the time, so we pretty much let him walk around with that gun, and keep that in-character feel all day long. Norman always carries his knife all day long, same thing. And when he has the crossbow or the motorcycle, he likes to be in character, also. Michael Rooker when he died really wanted his bayonet prosthetic. Everybody wants a little memento, especially big character things, but we can’t really let them go.

Here’s the link to that article about John Sanders, there’s many more from other seasons. Just Google his name.

I knew that they would get out of that traincar, eventually.

Still these photos say very little about anything. I imagine they are just promotional stills, like the one with Glenn. Hard to say who makes it out of Terminus, as I imagine someone will be staying behind, whether it be food or a reanimated zombie.
