The Walking Dead 127 Discussion

We’re posting this BEFORE the issue comes out, which means we’re not saying JACK. But this post will be here for the very first people that DO get the issue. We’re thoughtful like that. We’ll be updating the post with some thoughts and insight (maybe) tomorrow after we’ve had our coffee and breakfast burritos (you guys all celebrate new comic book day with breakfast burritos right?)

AND ALSO, as per usual, Lizzinator and myself and possibly The Intern (if he’s done washing our cars) will be picking our favorite comment, which might be our favorite simply because of the use of clever emoji. Or maybe it will be really insightful and funny. We’ll have to see. The writer of this comment will receive not only public adoration but also a SIGNED copy of 127 and a totally UNSIGNED copy of our latest hit Manifest Destiny Volume 1 which ALSO comes out May 14th. And is f**king awesome.

In the meantime…
Who IS THAT on the cover?!
And it that a shipping container? Wasn’t there something about a shipping container at the end of season 4 of AMC’s Walking Dead*?!
Why do the zombies on the cover have so many questions?!
WHERE THE F**K IS EVERYONE ELSE?!

*I’m messing with you. OR AM I.**

**I am.

UPDATED: Choosing best comment for #127 was hard due to everyone’s awesome points about this crazy new issue, but there was one clear winner for us… Bastet! We had to give it to Bastet’s comment because how often does a picture start an epic pun battle? Thanks for making our day and enjoy the signed issue and copy of Manifest Destiny Vol. 1!

Spoiler alert! The government comes back to cure the Governor, and he turns into a robot to crush Rick and his friends, killing everyone. Oh yeah, and there is no Issue 128.

Is there a way I can buy this comic at midnight so I can read it? Digital version? I never did it before, and help ASAP would be great my fellow Walking Dead fans! Thanks.

    To answer the questions:

“Who IS THAT on the cover?!” It’s Lisa, the taco truck lady.

“And in that a shipping container?” Tacos.

“Why do the zombies on the cover have so many questions?!” Because they want tacos.

“WHERE THE F**K IS EVERYONE ELSE?!” Eating tacos.

I think in an ideal world I would have preferred the focus to be completely removed
from Rick and his crew and put to another tribe, place, country etc. After the
disaster of AOW (and I still maintain that was the worst TWD has ever got),
some serious newy newness was needed to inject a bit of life back into TWD. I’m
glad they’ve done something a little different (though arguably not different
enough). The only major points I had were: 1. Are we really supposed to accept
Negan has quietly sat in his cell for two years (notwithstanding we are
supposed to accept this junk about his rounded character and not being a
complete c**t)? and 2. Why does Carl now look like a socially awkward woman in her
    early twenties? Ugly Betty anyone?

    • Tom Whaley May 14, 2014 at 9:19 am - Reply

We’ve seen “jailed” Negan for two panels… A little too soon to start claiming that he sat quietly the whole time. I’m sure that there have been plenty of issues with him that we’ll discover. Also, Negan was always a relatively round character. His motives were very humane, although his methods weren’t. He still had some morality to him, as opposed to The Governor. Rick and Negan maintained an antagonistic relationship throughout the last 26 issues… Keyword: Relationship! They could sit in a room and talk things out (for a while) knowing that both of them wanted the other dead. He offered to spare the lives of the people he was attacking just about every time they fought. So let’s not pretend that Negan was never a well rounded character to begin with. He was just a villain.
Agreed with Carl though. Awful, awful look. Teenagers! What are ya gonna do?

Holy damn how long has it been since issue 126? At first, I thought it was months but after seeing Negan and how long his hair is, it has to be at least 2 years or more. I don’t know how i feel about this issue, i felt really uncomfortable reading this. I mean Rick looks like Hershel and Douglas mixed together lol.

So Rick’s now Douglas Monroe… does that makes Carl the new Spencer??? :S

Love the waking dead, I thought the time jump was cool, great issue all around, can’t wait for next issue!

I don’t know about anyone else but the whole feel of this new comic was like a cross between the first ever comic and the first episode of season 4. It felt like an introduction to something completely different.. like It didn’t really feel like the walking dead but something so much better and new! A New beginning..!!! This actually feels a lot like when they brought Red Dwarf back and how different it was.. yeah I just.. yeah love.. so much love for this new book… wow! Also gotta love the new (Hershel/Douglas) Rick look haha!!

After the scene at the construction site, it looks like Rosita is pregnant. (that’s what she needs to talk to Eugene about.). I’m thinking Michonne is not going to be pregnant.
