The Walking Dead 112 Discussion

With any luck, issue 112 is in your tiny little mitts, or if you’re British, you’ve been rolling that issue for almost a week and lording it over us colonists. So what did 112 bring us? Well Rick came home and wasn’t too pleased to find guts all over the place. Fighting back didn’t go too well, although it sure looked promising for a second. Attempted coup: squashed.

What did you think?

How lucky is Rick that he didn’t have his remaining hand shot off?
How many men does Negan have in his army, anyway? I count over 20 on that last page.
Are Rick and the gang royally boned?
Only 2 issues before All Out War begins, will Rick be ready? How’s that ammo looking, Eugene?

Robert : Negan :: Sean : Rick vis a vis that last page.

I like the letter that refers to the “corridors” of the Skybound offices, like our office is big enough to have corridors.
PS: Tigers. Let’s talk about them some more. Diet, communication, reproduction habits, climate tolerances. We should just change Letter Hacks to Tiger Hacks.

I have a feeling that before Negan and The Saviors have a chance to dish out any form of punishment to Rick and the members of Alexandria, Andrea will pick a shit ton off in the bell tower before any can have a chance. In doing that, Negan will likely flee back to The Sanctuary while Rick, Alexandria, The Hilltop and The Kingdom kill off the remaining Savior’s at the outposts..leaving Negan for last.

  3. Stefanie July 10, 2013 at 11:56 am - Reply

I’ve been thinking.. it must really suck to be in Negan’s gang. Most of them only get clubs or iron bars as weapons and Negan usually doesn’t give a crap when some of them die – he seems to value the lives of those who killed his men far more!

But then again, we have yet to see what kind of punishment he has in store for Rick’s crew this time (I kind of feel like a sick person for looking forward to that)

For a moment back there I couldn’t believe my eyes. “Oh man, is Negan dead?!?!?”. Didn’t last for long, but that was such a cool moment. Also, Rick has one of the best lines of the comics right now.

How were Carl and Andrea faced with the unthinkable in this issue?

  6. Eric July 10, 2013 at 12:10 pm - Reply

man, i was really pumped for a second! but i guess i should’ve known negan won’t get his until at least upcoming factions’ war. that tiger better eat his damn face!

I’m getting a real sinking feeling that Kirkman is setting us all up for The Fall of Rick come the All Out War arc. I see Andrea picking off a few more Savior’s next issue. Negan flees and then they’ll hit all The Outposts until they finally corner him at The Sanctuary. Then, it’s feeding time. How epic would it be to see Negan getting mauled to death by Shiva? But I have a feeling that Carl will be the one to put down Negan after he kills Rick.

    • Gregarious Raptopoulos July 11, 2013 at 5:11 pm - Reply

Kirkman has faked out Rick’s death so many times it’s starting to get a bit predictable that anytime a cover suggests Rick might die, you should know he is not going to die. When Rick finally dies, it’s going to be a surprise and they will not tease it on any cover. I’ve been predicting Andrea will be the next major character death for a while. If you think about the scenario logically, Negan has snipers watching the town. It’s seems a bit beyond belief that they did not see Andrea running for the bell tower. She’s going to be trapped in the tower and whether or not she dies next issue, she is getting way too much cover time lately not to die soon.

    • ChristopherHadley July 12, 2013 at 12:35 pm - Reply

A friend of mine said to me, “What if Andrea is an inside person for Negan and betrays the group?” I highly doubt that. I’m 100% certain she isn’t an inside person. She’s killed WAY to many of The Savior’s herself to be considered a mole. Plus, how would she be an insider? She’s been with Rick since the day he arrived at the Atlanta Camp. I don’t think Negan has any inside people outside his Factory. I totally believe Jesus is legit. Same with King Ezekiel. I’m really interested to see what role Dwight is gonna play in all this. I know Ezekiel mentioned in issue #111 that Dwight informed them of all of locations of The Savior’s outposts. But he’s so close to Negan I feel he can play a huge role in Negan’s eventual death.

Honestly Walking Dead, I’d like to see one form of punishment next issue before Negan and his group leaves. I love this issue but I feel Negan has been tame around Rick for far too long. Keep in mind this was an attempt on his life. Before Negan and his crew flee the area. I’d like to see Negan get one more form of payback before that happens. You know something to add the fuel to the fire known as all out war.

  9. Aidan Humphries July 10, 2013 at 1:06 pm - Reply

Man, i really enjoyed that issue.

  10. Andrés Villamar Monroy July 10, 2013 at 1:13 pm - Reply

I got the feeling Negan doesn’t have that many men in his army as it seems. I mean… sure he shows lots of people when he collects the stuff from other towns but I think most of those people are from other towns he conquered and not really from his personal group. So if the towns under his command joined forces against him they could easily defeat him.

  11. Matt Pi July 10, 2013 at 1:27 pm - Reply

I guess it is entirely plausible to see Rick die during this arc. I mean, we already have TIGERS now so I guess anything truly is possible. Can Jesus become the main protagonist? Also unlike the TV series PLEASE DON’T KILL ANDREA PLEASE NO

Also strangely enough, I don’t want Negan to die. He’s by far the most lovable villain in the series. Much more so than the governor.

    • Zooropa July 11, 2013 at 4:07 pm - Reply

when he said “who’s the fucker who brought a bat to a gun fight” I thought FOR SURE Negan was gonna die and the war would be with the living zombies he controls. But yeah, he has the best dialogue of anyone.

  12. Matt Casas July 10, 2013 at 2:16 pm - Reply

I love how completely reasonable Negan is capable of being. If Rick knew what actually took place between Spencer and Negan, then maybe that stupid fucker wouldn’t be so fucking fucked.

  13. Lon Levin July 10, 2013 at 4:01 pm - Reply

I’d say Negan has close to 100 men and he’ll never have them all show themselves at once, but Rick and the gang are seriously screwed. It won’t be long before Negan takes out another major character like Michonne or Andrea, and he reveals that Jesus and Ezekiel are his inside guys (Jesus = savior). Whatever, I just want to see Negan stick around for a very long time. He makes each issue more fun to read and he has zero wus-factor to him.

I’m British! Really enjoyed the issue, definitely fell for it and thought Negan was a goner- didn’t really understand part of it though- did Negans men fire guns that stopped the Survivors guns working or did the bullets just backfire of what? Cannot wait for All Out War- definitely would be cool for Rick to sort of loose power or even fall to give a chance to focus on other characters!

    • Sean Mackiewicz July 10, 2013 at 4:34 pm - Reply

First of all, there is NO declaring of nationality in these comments. We’re a Brotherhood Without Borders.

Rick’s gun–along with the rest of the group’s guns–was shot out of his hand by Negan’s hidden snipers.

fantastic panels of Negan praying to Lucille to give him strength are epic. That character is pretty much the new ‘Lono’ in comics. (except for Lono being back recently that is). Great issue

  16. Rance Hudak July 10, 2013 at 4:49 pm - Reply

Great issue! WAY better than the last one. I can’t wait to see what happens to Rick and the rest of the survivors in All Out War.

Holy shit, Rick! Negan is sick and I’m one of his haters.

  18. strangle_squad July 10, 2013 at 6:28 pm - Reply

I cheered on the “blam pannel” I want Negan dead so bad and then I had to go back and forth between pages to figure out what was going on.

  19. Jason Allen July 10, 2013 at 8:31 pm - Reply

First off fuck you Kirkman, now that the formalities are out of the way, 112 was awesome!

I actually cheered out loud upon the double page image with the gun, then I turned the page and was like damn it man. That would have been a good death for Negan after Ricks great one liner. Yeah I know it would have made the upcoming war kinda silly, but it could have been a good end to him anyway.

Anyway, great job on 112 I can’t wait for 113 now.

    • Lon Levin July 10, 2013 at 10:17 pm - Reply

Negan can’t die for 3 reasons: 1) He’s the best character currently in the book. 2) Kirkman enjoys writing for him way too much. 3) Because I will have a massive shitfit if he does

      • Jason Allen July 11, 2013 at 12:57 am - Reply

I also like what they are doing with Negan and this arc too, it was just that one liner was great and maybe if Rick got off a shot Negan could have maybe been disfigured, but not dead. I don’t know though, it was just a sweet setup and the sniper shooting everyone’s guns just wasn’t the expectation I had for that situation.

I very thought enjoyed this issue though and am looking forward to all out war!

Great issue! The blam panel totally got me. I can’t wait until the next issue!

The only bad thing about the walking dead is that it reads so quick! I wish it never ended. I end up reading each issue like 3 or 4 times. Also please don’t kill Rick. We’re 112 issues in but it still feels to soon! We all love him and the series would be so different with out him. I don’t know if this makes sense but it would be kind of a buzzkill. Maybe that’s not the right word but anyway, great issue can’t wait for all out war

  22. Zooropa July 11, 2013 at 4:39 pm - Reply

holy. shit. one of the best issues since 100 for sure.

  23. Dave July 11, 2013 at 10:00 pm - Reply

Sooo why didn’t Andrea just shoot Negan?

  24. Aaron Williams July 12, 2013 at 12:37 pm - Reply

This as a great issue. The interaction between Rick and negan was fantastic. I can’t wait for the next issue. You know negan is going to do something to rick. Perhaps he may hurt rick emotionally and kill carl. I mean that will be a great twist in the plot.

The story build up was well timed, but I thought they had bad ammo or something.
Snipers targeting handguns is just way over the rainbow. Its not that I cant follow a story its just wack they do that. I found the whole shooting the guns out of there hands an unreal and a “jump the shark moment”. The Tiger has also made it seem like an old marvel comic. a bad one. With there leader 1 shot away from death the snipers are aiming for hand guns… lol. The comic has been on a long run for me of good drama and action.. not since Ricks comment in issue 1 or 2 “lets go shopping” have I felt such disillusionment. Look I am not looking for a reality show but can you see the tiger and sniping handguns making it to TV airtime I hope not.

    • Matt Pi July 16, 2013 at 9:48 am - Reply

I have to admit my first thought was bad ammo that Eugene made since the plausibility of Negan’s men being that good with a sniper rifle/hunting rifle seemed a bit far fetched in my own mind. They seem to be civilians-turned-militia, not so far off from Rick’s group, where the only person with that accuracy is Andrea

    • Jerry Negrelli July 22, 2013 at 6:44 pm - Reply

Agree with this comment 100%. It was an awesome moment but it would appear RIDICULOUS if it were shown on the TV series. There’s just no way those snipers are going to be able to shoot the GUN in Rick’s hand, let alone his hand itself. I was stunned — and I loved the moment and dread that was created — but that twist was more far fetched than the zombie apocalypse.

  26. Jimy July 14, 2013 at 5:05 am - Reply

I think Rick wipes his ass with the same hand he eats with, and that’s disgusting.

  27. Marcelo Lewin July 22, 2013 at 1:36 pm - Reply

You seriously tell me Rick couldn’t of shot Negan quickly? He had to be cool and talk before trying to shoot him? Come on Rick. Shut up and shoot the fucker!

  28. Max July 24, 2013 at 9:17 am - Reply

The thing I found unrealistic is how Andrea took the shot at the driver and not Negan, I know its a comic book and they wanna drag out the story line but I would’ve taken the shot at the damn leader, then the driver.

  29. Olivia Darrah July 27, 2013 at 6:45 pm - Reply

I can see Rick dying in the next issue, he is my favorite protaganist so it would be a shame if he were killed off. It makes perfect since but I am attached (as silly as it sounds) to this character. I get why it would be great reading and a awesome revenge story. While killing off Glenn in issue 100 was big maybe something bigger neads to happen. Can’t wait to find out though! I am a bit obsessed with this comic series.

  30. Andreas Abaddon Holmberg August 3, 2013 at 11:12 am - Reply

Tyreese gets killed and Abraham take his place in the group, then Abraham dies and Jesus take his place. I sure hope Jesus is one of the Savior´s. Or atleast does something drastic against Rick´s group. I don´t want him to be swapped with someone else just because you had to kill Rick´s right hand (lol, litteraly).

  31. Jordan Benoit August 12, 2013 at 3:53 pm - Reply

I think Eugene, nicholas, holly, Rosita?, Heath, Michonne, and a few unknown people from Alexandria, people from The Hilltop, and From The Kingdom and Negans Group- ALOT.
