that’s been my theory for like the longest! everyone thinks it would just be shock value, but story-wise, i think it would work really well. it gives not only rick (whom called daryl his brother) but the rest of the crew that loves daryl and has from the start (lets be honest, who hasn’t) personal motive against negan. although I could see them keeping glen as the man, since the maggie/baby/hilltop storyline goes that way, but then again, i could see carol being the one to go and slap gregory off the throne later on. i also recently thought maybe morgan (if he doesnt get bitten in no way out)?

To reply to your comment above about Daryl (I hate the limitations on this comment system!!), I think it would not only be major shock value but it would also serve the story, just like you said. I think Daryl’s character has become stale, so for me, he’s better off reverting to his old chip-on-the-shoulder ways… or dead. But I have a hard time believing that they’d kill off the show’s MVP. I’d have to see it to believe it could happen!
As for the spoiler thing, if you heard it, it could be rumor. So we’re good. 😉

I absolutely love Negan. It was crazy that the farther into the story I got the more I almost got to the point where I wanted to root for him. All that being said I really hope AMC handles this character properly. I didn’t think the governor was handle properly. He wasn’t nearly as ruthless and evil in the show as he was in the comic. I’m not interested in Henry Rollins playing him. How are they going to handle the swearing? I’d almost rather them just beep it out than not have him curse all together. Either way I’m excited to see him come from the page to the screen.

I am still rooting for Negan! I don’t think he’s even that bad of guy. Even though he did kill a lot of people and exploited his people and the other communities, he was really just trying to maintain control. I can see how someone in charge of a really large group could become ruthless because of all he had to do to keep them alive but Negan was never someone who couldn’t be talked to or reasoned with. In fact, I could see the sanity in his madness and totally understood why he is the way he is. Not to mention how many people he kept alive and in a twisted way, united these groups in a way no one else could. I’m all about seeing Negan vindicated and used as a asset!

I prefer he drop his colorful bombs & let AMC cover them with silence. No annoying words like “frack”. No irritating beeps. Just silence… I know exactly how to plug in what he’s saying, lol!

Agree! Please keep the swearing intact, but bleep or silence it. Don’t edit or water-down his dialogue to make it “safe.”
Unfortunately, if Rick’s past lines are any indication…they are going to remove the swearing entirely for TV.

That is a unfortunate side of making TWD a show. We’ve all seen how brutal the comic can be and it would be impossible to put that on a regular cable channel. I think they should censor it as long as they do his dialog right and then we’d be able to enjoy it on Netflix or Blu-ray.

I agree too.. wasnt expecting him till 7.5. but if they pace this season correctly, plus with the way they have been structuring early intro’s (like with the termites/hunters or claimers), they can pull it off i think.

Think they’re keeping in mind the complaints about dragging out The Governor/Prison Raid? Seems they have quite a bit of story they could fill this season up with before they get to Negan. Man, I just don’t want ’em to rush into it all & the next thing you know, we’re ending the show at the conclusion of AOW.

        Reply
    • jaysmusgrave says:

See, I don’t think the end of the season would be too early. The Governor had two seasons as the big bad and I know that Negan will get at least that much. That would put his arch ending at season 9-10 and even longer possibly. Sure, there was a lot between No Way Out and his intro, but I doubt they’d cover all that in the show. The way 6 is moving, I think they’re going to cover a lot quick.

I don’t think I could ever get tired of the show… but in the back of my mind, I’m always thinking that the end of AOW would be the stopping point if AMC felt it was time to wrap it up, especially since they really seem to be enthused about the idea of Fear the Walking Dead’s total unpredictability for all fans.

          • jaysmusgrave says:

Yeah, and seeing the whispers probably made the AMC people cringe a bit…

          • grimeyrick says:

dude, bastet, you and i totally think alike. i feel like if it had to end, that would be the perfect stopping point. and yeah jay, i see us getting to season 9/10. AOW is a season, maybe more, all in itself, and we had mucho story before that. i have a dream, i dont think it would ever go down this way, but what if they wrapped TWD on amc at the end of AOW, and then resurrect the series on cinemax (seeing as kirk-man has ties there with outcast) as TWD: the next generation (type-shit).

          • jaysmusgrave says:

It’s really too hard to tell right now how far AMC will take it but I can’t see them giving it up while they’re shattering ratings. I know in the comics, I was actually relieved after the war to get to see what came next, I think ending the show with the end of the war would leave a big hole in the show. We wouldn’t get to see them actually surviving the situation, just fighting to make it one more day.

          • BASTET. says:

They could pull out, just like Hugh Jackman is pulling out from Wolvie… end it while it’s still good… before it’s gotten stale.

In my honest opinion? Negan will be the changing factor of Season 6. He will come in as a cliff hanger and we will probably deliver the infamous Lucille death as the cliffhanger. Let us look at the evidence. In Season 6B, we’re getting Jesus. That news is in the clear. And with the casting news of Xander Berkeley, he has to be Gregory which means only one thing: Hilltop. Hilltop needs it’s main enemy. Negan can not be hyped up for a half a season only to be introduced next season and a cast member gets killed off in the opening. Maybe in the midseason finale but that’s a lot of filler in between. I strongly stand by my opinion that our man behind the bat will show his face and bash someones skull in during the Season 6 finale…setting up a truly brutal and powerful Season 7. Thank You.

If the show makes Glenn’s death at the hand of Negan, half as traumatic as it was in the comic, people are going to go nuts. I had to sit that issue down and walk out of the room, and that was the COMIC! Every one that’s so excited to see Negan show up are sick O’s. I like Glenn and he will be missed on the show as he is in the books.

I think Jim and Amy are the only people that I can think of who met the exact same fate on the show as they did in comics. So to me anyways I think it’s fairly obvious that Glen isn’t going to be on the receiving end of Lucille’s rage. The only other person who would have the same type of unexpected shock and impact on the show storyline is Daryl. It has to be Daryl. Who else is going to devastate the tv audience as much as that scene is intended, it has to be Daryl. Or at least that’s how I see it.

I think if we find out Maggie is pregnant then Glenn is a gonner. If not then I would think it’d have to be Daryl to have that gut wrenching response. To get that feeling where you want to rip Negan apart with your bare hands. Maybe Carol… I don’t think I can guess. Looks like we’ll have to wait and see.

What about a negan substitute in strand? He seems to have a pretty sick sense of humour (the way he caused the cellmate to crack) and mentioned being a salesman? He has a weird charisma that had me liking him, but not trusting him.

I feel you. His adaptation is surely the biggest curiosity that any of us have right now!! I’m thinking that they’ll be right on top of the line that AMC draws for him & they’ll keep him there. Maybe to compensate for what he can’t say on TV, he’ll be much more physically tyrannical. I wasn’t disappointed with what they did with The Governor, despite his worst action being left out of the show, so I have faith that they’ll bring Negan… not at 100%, but damn close.
