This week we radically changed our character Power Rankings for Fear the Walking Dead. It was primarily based on a recency bias; we want our list to reflect the CURRENT power brokers of the show. If we haven’t seen you in a few episodes, you’re getting moved down. If you re-appear or consistently provide value then we move you up. And with that, here are our week twelve Power Rankings:
1. Morgan
Aside from the Alicia and Charlie standalone episode Morgan was played a huge rule in every storyline. He’s more powerful now that he’s been reunited with June and Al, but he has a long road in front of him if he wants to find the rest of his friends. Morgan will also need to be careful now that the dirty woman has the truck and their location, but Morgan has faced worse.
2. ??? (+10)
The filthy woman skyrocketed our ranks for swindling randoms, stealing a SWAT truck, and doing a bunch of questionable other things. We don’t know what she’s capable of other than turning kind folks into her personal walker pets, but now that she has the SWAT truck it seems like her power could be limitless.
3. June (+3)
June received a generous raise this week for helping Al find medicine (even though it was a ruse to get the truck) as well as reuniting with Morgan and his new pals. It was refreshing to see June take the reigns this episode, even if her new friend Quinn didn’t come up so lucky.
4. Althea (-2)
Althea easily commanded the second spot for weeks by the simple fact she owned and operated an apocalypse-proof SWAT truck. Now that it’s in the possession of the mysterious filthy woman, Al had to get moved down. Even without her baby, Althea still possesses more skill and knowledge to traverse the zombie apocalypse than most we’ve encountered.
5. Sarah (+2)
Sarah and her crew got bumped up this week after Alicia, Strand, and John went MIA for another episode. Because we grade on recency bias (along with access to safe transportation), we decided to bump her up.
6. Wendell (+2)
Sarah’s twin Wendell also received a bump for the same reasons as Sarah.
7. Jim (+2)
Jim also got moved up for his teamwork. Expect to see more with him in the coming weeks.
8. Alicia (-5)
As much as it pains us to do so, we had to move Alicia down for not showing up in these last few episodes. Don’t worry, the final Clark will soon return!
9. John (-5)
John and Strand will have a huge episode this week, but since we’re grading with a recency bias we have to move the homemade Scrabble-crafting cowboy down a few pegs.
10. Strand (-4)
Same goes for Strand, but expect to catch up with him and Mr. Dorie when Sunday rolls around.
11. Luciana (-1)
The good news is Luciana returns next episode. The bad news is that until she does we have to keep her near the bottom of our Power Rankings.
12. Charlie (-1)
Finally, Charlie. Even though she made huge strides in Episode 410, we can’t prop her up any higher until she and Alicia show back up. Sorry, Charlie.
