Tales from Skybound: Brian

Hey all! Welcome to a new feature we’re rolling out here at Skybound.com, where we’ll write about what’s going here and in general. We’ll rotate various Skybound staffers each week and I, Brian Huntington, your friendly neighborhood Online Editorial Director, am up first.

There I am on the Skybound masthead, right inside your current issues of any Skybound comic. Pretty neat to end up listed inside ANY comic, let alone some of my favorites.

So what does an Online Editorial Director do? Strictly speaking, I oversee this site, TheWalkingDead.com, the twitter feeds (@TheWalkingDead, @SkyboundEnt—follow those if you aren’t!), our Facebook pages, etc. But because Skybound is such a small family I also get to help with brainstorming, video game feedback, design mock-ups, proofing next month’s comics, and tons more. It’s pretty great. Everyone here helps out with everyone else’s job.

This week around the office we’re gearing up for NYCC. We’ve been receiving samples of some new merch that is AWESOME and I can’t wait for you to see it (hopefully in the next few days). We’ve been running some contests on Twitter and Facebook (The Walking Dead Assault Challenge and the Facebook Faction shirt contest are both running RIGHT NOW). And we’ve been doing some updates to the Skybound site (adding new and upcoming titles like the awesome Manifest Destiny and Dead Body Road).

The other big thing at Skybound is the addition of Assistant to the Director of Business Development, Lizzy. She’s helping Shawn with the insane amount of stuff he has going on and also helping me with a ton of web stuff. You might have already seen her name on posts on this site and over on the TWD site. It’s amazing how much more we’re able to get done with Lizzy in the mix. Great addition.

And there were not one, but TWO big AMC/Walking Dead items this week. One is that AMC and Robert Kirkman are making a spin-off show. And no, I have no idea what it’s about. And the other is that they’ve cast the role of Rosita Espinosa! Christian Serratos will be playing the part. So both of those things are super exciting and there’s more TWD news on the way very, very soon.

Well I should get back to all the super-secret stuff we have going on at Skybound HQ. Let me end with some odds and ends:

The Walking Dead Escape WILL be at NYCC. The course is set up alongside the USS Intrepid. That is an actual, full size, United States Navy aircraft carrier. Think about that. One night only: October 12th.

All Out War begins in The Walking Dead #115, out October 9th, which is the title’s TEN YEAR Anniversary!

AMC’s The Walking Dead returns October 13th! So don’t be TOO sad about Breaking Bad ending.

We’ve legitimized the Invincible Facebook fan page. Rob was doing such a good job with it, it made sense to make it official. I’m an admin on it now, and Rob is still running the show and posting really great artwork there basically daily so go check it out and “like” it.

Ghosted #3 sold out and will be getting a second printing, just like issues 1 and 2. So A) we’re SUPER proud of Josh, Goran, and the whole team working on the book, and B) retailers, order more up front!

And last, go “like” our Walking Dead Facebook page. Early on we partnered with the guys who ran The Walking Dead Comics page, because they’re super on top of things, but we wanted a page of our own where we could post about not just the comic, but the show, the games, the novels, etc. Get on it! Like it! Win some stuff!

That’s it for this week! Feel free to follow me and harass me on Twitter. Till next time, adiós!
