Negan is back! I thought this was a really clever way to bring him back to form of what we know and love about the character. I am curious how going forward he is going to be handled. I, for one, genuinely believe he is on Rick’s side now going forward. He will just be more of a wild card to play in emergencies, like he was in this issue. Still, it’ll be cool to see going forward.

This issue was SO GOOD! I’ve been waiting for #Regan to be a thing now for awhile and I think we’re beginning to see the start of it. With Rick and Negan together, they would be unstoppable. I know it’s hard for two alpha males to do that, but I really think they can. I loved seeing that Rick was cautiously optimistic about Negan’s speech, it shows that trust forming. Dwight was less than thrilled with that, but that’s besides the point.
Just like every new issue, I read them on my lunch break at work, and when Rick went and slept on her grave, my goodness THE TEARS! Last time I cried into my salad and this time I cried into my hummus. That scene was truly heartbreaking. I think right now, Rick needs Negan to be Negan. He’s just not in a good place, rightfully so, and having Negan on his side (hopefully), I think this is gonna be an awesome turning point for the comics. I already can’t wait for 169!

Negan… My man. This was an AWESOME Negan issue. I don’t know if he is playing an angle, and I suspect Rick shares my suspicions by his look at the end of the speech… but GODDAM. This was some great writing. Really good follow up to last issue. This is truly what we needed under the circumstances. Hail to the king baby.

Negan has a foot fetish, that’s not something I ever expected to be a thing in the story. This issue was classic Negan, he did his thing, took control and earned his place in the group. Interesting to see how Maggie reacts to all this, she did not look best pleased.

I feel that Kirkman is playing us, and he will continue to do it for years, until all of us believe that Negan is truly with Rick. And then, suddenly, Negan betrays him. So we should continue to be vigilant, because nobody wants to see Rick being betrayed by Negan.
Negan resolved the situation peacefully, to my surprise, but he had a point regarding Sherry. She was a problem and John had known it. But Maggie and Dwight were pissed. A confrontation with Negan is inevitable and I can’t wait to see how he gets out of that situation.
Also, I hope that we are going to see Beta & co. soon. He is going to be shocked that his army failed. While Negan’s alive, Beta is out there, waiting for the revenge. The rematch is needed!

Loved the issue. It really seemed to smooth over a lot of erratic character decisions with the Saviours, especially Mark and Sherry. Maggie’s feelings will be interesting to explore but I’m very glad that Negan appears to be on Rick’s side. I hope it’s genuine. I fully expect him to need reigning in at times but I don’t see a future for him as an antagonist and I doubt he sees that either.
The comic’s at such an interesting point. The major plot of the last few years is ended but there’s still Beta out there, Stephanie is around, the Hilltop crew are in flux, Rick is moving into a new status quo post-Andrea. Very intrigued to see what’s happening next.
Love the shout-out to Charlie Adlard and the art team too. This issue was beautiful and I’m so glad they keep it coming out on time. The selfish part of me would love it that bit more frequently (the 5 week waits in particular are a killer) but it’s incredible the pace he works at full stop. Magic man.

It seems like Negan is actually legit. His speech couldve been a bit more polished but him talking about his foot fetish had everybody there probably thinking, where the hell is he going with this, but it was pure Negan and I think he’s rehabilitated.

That Letter Hacks proposing how Michonne and Jesus could reasonably get together was a bit weird…
Anyway. Really good issue. Loved Negan’s dialogue. The foot thing might have been a bit too silly in my opinion? But oh well. Negan is as Negan does. Digging that glare Maggie had in the crowd.

First off, I’m gay, so no homophobia in my comment.
I also hate this thing when people claim it is possible to change your sexual orientation. And when they do, it is ~always~ towards heterosexuality…
I had sent a (published) Letter hack listing the possible fathers for Rosita’s baby, including Jesus. I said we never knew if Jesus was gay or bisexual. At this point, however, at would be really surprised if he was. But people always seem to forget this simple possibility.
(By the way, my first choice, for Rosita’s lover is Siddiq.)
Can’t wait to hear Maggie next issue ! (about Negan, not foot fetish, obviously)

I can understand that. And I agree that I hate when people are like “oh, you can always change!” That’s why I liked Kirkman’s response, saying that your preferences in appearance might change or expand over time but the gender you prefer… that’s probably not going to somehow just change. And while Jesus could be bisexual (I wouldn’t mind more of the B in LGBT) it probably isn’t the case. Every time he’s been called gay Kirkman has never once tried to “fix” the record so it’s improbable.
(What? You don’t want to hear Maggie’s thoughts on Negan’s intense foot fetish. I do!)

One thing is sure, every issue of The Walking Dead is important, no matter how much action or terrible things occur (like last issue tragedy, RIP Andrea), this issue shows how Negan is gaining power again, he has evolve as character a lot, but I don’t think that he could be a pesron to trust, he will betray everybody. The Walking Dead is a series that has more diversity than any other run, so the variant cover defines the recipe for success of this comic, is for everybody

The fact that Negan is now defending and backing Rick Grimes up is incredible, I can’t wait to see how Maggie reacts to this news. I could feel the heat of her hate coming off the tiny panel!

It’s not good for Negan that the hilltop burned down. Maggie has nowhere else to go. I know she said they would rebuild, but I don’t think that it’s realistic in the short term. Plus it’s not like you can send Negan with the group to Ohio. Not exactly the first impression you want to give to a new group.

Comic Negan is the best. The foot related dialogue combined with the confused silent crowd was amazing. I’ve struggled with TV Negan’s portrayal even though JDM is a great actor. It just always seems watered down….probably because it is. Negan doesn’t work when he isn’t working blue. Censoring Negan’s dialogue makes Negan cease to be Negan. Glad the comics are still on point.

Robert Kirklan is so talented. I have never seen an arc like Negan’s. As a plot device, the passage of time between the end of all out war and the end of the whisperer war was so effective. Not to mention all the subtle opportunities to build trust with Negan. He killed the series favorite in a brutal way in front of his pregnant wife, now here I was ready to let go of that and accept that he’s changed for the better. Very much looking forward to the role this new Negan plays in the TWD universe.

At the midnight in the silence of the sleep-time,
And that recurrent dream of years ago pulling,
I shall never look upon thee more,
Never to relish in the faery power
Of unreflecting love—then on the shore
Of the wide world I stand alone, and think
Till love and fame to nothingness do sink.

Negan is a regular one man side show of weirdness. I sort of find it hard to believe that no one shot him though. I understand that everyone truly did want to just lay down arms and start rebuilding, but no one likes Negan. If Maggie had not been holding Herschel I bet she would have gone after him. Maybe that is still a possibility, she was pretty tweaked when Rick threw Negan in a cell rather then execute him.
I would be pretty sad if he were to die though, by far he has the best dialog. Sort of like fuck tongue twisters.

I’am absolutely in love with Negan. He is anamazing character, and I love that there is finally more of him in the comic.
I’m really proud of him and his actions. I hope he won’t die for me it is one of the most interesting characters in the comics just like Rick.

The ending with Rick going outside to sleep next to Andrea’s grave was so sad. It’s reminiscent of videos on Youtube of a dog going to the gravestone of it’s owner and just laying there, as if they’re waiting for them.

I really hope Negan and Rick continue to trust each other but it seems WAY TOO convenient especially after reading through most of these comments… most everyone seems to genuinely trust #Regan which makes me think Kirkman is playing us.
I think the last 3 issues have been outstanding!
