As soon as you’ve read The Walking Dead #123 (which is out digitally at midnight at ImageComics.com) come stop on by and discuss the issue here!

We’re not going to list the major plot points until tomorrow, so you’ll have to wait a few more hours for the guided discussion! But at least as humanity is being ripped apart in the comics, you can all come together as a community and talk about how #ShivaLives.

#Maybe

And remember, we’re always on the look out for the best comment. One lucky person who tugs our heart strings the hardest, makes us laugh the loudest, or just says something mind-blowingly insightful will win a signed copy of Issue 123.

So, without further ado, talk amongst yourselves!

UPDATED!

Recap and discussion questions brought to you by Lizzy this week! Exciting! Here we go…

Eugene is free! Almost. What do you think happened to that group of Saviors that tried to escape? Are they gonna make it?

“You’ve lost your Dale… maybe you’ve got a Rick out there.” We learn that while Andrea is able to move on, Maggie is an even-after-death-do-we-part type of gal. Such feels.

Carl. Carl Carl Carl. You are never going to score with Sophia if you keep bringing up her tendency to suppress scarring memories. This is not the way to a lady’s heart!

Rick shows some optimism! Is this a new direction for his character? Or is Negan going to sweep in a destroy everything?

Looks like the latter, given that the Saviors arrive at the Hilltop! Spear guy gets shot (bringing a spear to a gun fight is even worse than bringing a bat, apparently) and Negan instructs the Saviors to get their weapons all nice and gooey. Dwight resists at first, but gives in. Or does he!?

The truck does a number on Hilltop’s walls, bullets fly and the Saviors come rolling in on murdercycles. Rick barely misses getting run down while Andrea and Carl try to shut down the cars. Marcus gets shanked (quite literally) and Ezekiel has a quiet moment of bravery as he covers Michonne. Maybe he’s back to being a tiger-wielding bad ass? Without the tiger, of course.

MEANWHILE, Negan and Dwight sneak behind the barricade where there’s a clear shot of Rick. Negan urges Dwight to fire “even if it’s not a kill shot,” and Dwight gets him in the side with a bolt. Negan declares, “Game fucking over.” But is it?

All in all, the issue ends in the middle of battle, with no side clearly ahead. Will the Saviors get to the house and slaughter the survivors? Or does Rick have some secret weapon in store? Do you think Dwight has infected Rick with zombie-bolts, or is it a clean wound? Let us know in the comments! Our favorite comment gets a copy of 123 signed by Robert!

UPDATED AGAIN! – The winner

Our favorite comment was from Dylan Willey, whose panel-punchline we found especially poignant (what an alliteration!). Also, we’re sorry it’s too soon.

Congrats, Dylan, you get a signed copy of #123!

Really disappointed in this issue. Everyone knows Negan is coming and yet there is only a guy with a spear on the wall? With Negan’s propensity for standing out in the open with nothing but a bat, it’s unrealistic to think someone wouldn’t have already put a bullet between his eyes. And don’t get me started on Rick’s fate…

I thought that. Surely Rick could have got some guys with guns up there to be ready, and make it clear if you see Negan take the shot.

They didn’t have all their manpower out because they weren’t expecting him yet. They thought they had time to do all the preparations they were talking about in issue 122. They didn’t. Kal was the only one up on the wall because he always has been the one up there guarding the gate. He did yell and warn everybody Negan was there before he was killed though

Having just finished it, I’ve got two thoughts …

First, if Rick does die, I wouldn’t be surprised at this point. I said several issues ago that I thought that Kirkman had set up a scenario where both Rick and Andrea could / would die by the end of this arc. This could be the beginning of the end of their story.

Second, and that said, if Dwight actually coated his bolts in walker gunk, I’d be extremely surprised. If I were a betting man, I’d say that that was a clean bolt that hit Rick and it Dwight put in in as non-vital an area as he could without making it look like he wasn’t trying to hurt him.

  8. Jwhite607 says:

Didn’t think they snuck up behind Rick as the image showed Rick shooting with his right hand, and we all know that’s just a nub. Secondly if walker gunk turns u, than wouldn’t their blood getting in your mouth or eyes or open cuts when our heros beat them have done the same thing? I think Rick is fine, if Carl can lose half his head then Rick can give up one measly kidney.

    Reply
  9. Colin Scarpino says:

Dwight couldn’t have shot him in a better place; and we know he’s an excellent shot if he can shoot Abraham straight in the head from a (most likely) further distance. If he hit his leg or arm he would have most likely severed an artery; bigger issue.

Now about the bolt being clean. He said to Negan that he needed to worry about altering the weight; so for all Negan knows the bolt is covered with a thin layer, but in reality it isn’t.

    Reply
  10. Brad Glaze says:

My prediction is that Dwight did not muck up his bolts or the one that hit Rick was clean. Dwight will then tell Rick about Negans plan to muck up their weapons and have Rick lay low making Negan think Rick is dead. Then the person we see on the cover of 126 holding Lucille ,with their left hand, is Rick which would be why Negan has a holy shit look on his face while down on his knees.

    • Corey Webster says:

The person- whoever it is- holding Lucille on the cover of #126 is doing so with their left hand. Rick is missing his right hand so it could be him with Lucille. But that might be too predictable so it must be someone else…

He’s only MOSTLY missing his right hand! He seemed to be making good use of it in this episode though… the panel before he gets shot, he’s firing a handgun with his right hand.

True it would be too predictable for it to be Rick, but if it were him I think he would hand Lucille over to Maggie. That way she could get her revenge for Glenn. I personally would love to see Carl bash Negans head in.

Dwight has had a lot of chances to kill Negan and he just doesn’t do it. He did shoot one guy in the shoulder and I think he shot Rick with a “BOLT” that wasn’t gunked up with zombie shit. He could have taken Negan out instead though and just ran over to help Rick. I think that Dwight doesn’t really know what he wants. He’s definitely playing both sides but I can’t figure out who he truly serves. I enjoyed Rick’s optimism too. His world has gotten a lot bigger and so have his battles. After reading The Walking Dead for the last few years I’ve come to realize that I can rarely predict what is going to happen. That is one of the reasons why I enjoy this comic so much 🙂

Either way can’t wait to see if Rick got lucky and will finish off negan or well see what finally happens when you take out the most influential character!

I think there may be a twist here – the fact that the guts have been exposed to the air before penetrating the human body may mean that in fact whatever virus has caused the outbreak is weakened by being outside of the zombie – to the point that a healthy human immune system can fight it off and gaining antibodies. Essentially becoming a form of a vaccine.

Rick goes through a fever during issues 124 and 125, but recovers and finds he is now immune to walker bites causing him to turn – leading to a “new world” where there is a possible cure that may not work for everyone.

Then at issue 200 – the virus mutates further, and those who had been “immunized” are no longer immune to the newly mutated virus 🙂

When the fight first started Dwight told Negan his BOLTS would lose balance and accuracy by scumming them up, then he proceeds to shoot the guy before Rick in the shoulder, and then Rick through the side. Never goes for a kill shot even though he easily got Abraham right through the eye… lol. He’s obviously still covering his ass with Negan waiting to see how things shake out while not trying to kill any of Ricks guys because as we’ve seen by now he’s a big pussy and if he wasn’t and actually killed Negan this story would’ve ended many issues ago.

That was a pretty cool issue. I love all the large battles that have been going on in ALL OUT WAR. The arc is really living up to its title.

first thing. If this walker gunk on the weapons thing works things are going to be really bad now that Michonne brought Marcus into the house after he just got stabbed.

Also…I dont think the walker gunk will work because if I remember correctly the Governor had a full on make out session with zombie Penny back in the day and he was perfectly fine.

Finally, I think the whole Dwight not having gunked up his arrow idea is a pretty good call and seems very likely.

Keep up all the great work team!

That is true, but nobody else in the TWD universe knows that with the Governor. Maybe it will be a scare for one or two issues to later realize nothing happens from the muck, and if Rick did get shot with a dirty arrow, then someone else may jump in until it is realized.

Dwight is a genius, he shot Rick with a normal boul so he will not die

I think that Dwight is on Rick’s side. Since Negan and Dwight sneak behind the barricade where there is a clear shot of Rick, that makes me believe that they probably weren’t seen by anyone back there. So I believe what could end up happening is Dwight shot Rick like Negan asked simply so that he could then turn to Negan and shoot him dead.. If Negan thought for a second that he wasn’t going to kill Rick then he might have gotten the hint and either killed Rick himself or kill Dwight then Rick. Dwight might have also been thinking that his group would probably kill him if they saw him kill Negan..so if he did it where they didn’t see it, he would be able to say that Negan shot an arrow at Rick and then Rick managed to get a killing shot on Negan… Who knows.. its hard to say because the rest of the saviors might want to kill Dwight for that.. then again, I wouldn’t be surprised if maybe the saviors all wanted him gone so everyone could be friends and help each other out which is next to impossible with Negan around. That could be what the big change will be in the comics coming up in the next few issues..?

Am I the only longtime comic fan who is actually routing for a zombie gunked bolt finally taking out our main man? Dwight would end up with two massive kills since he popped up in this franchise unexpectedly. He crushed TV fan dreams of Daryl Dixon making the jump to the page and I hope he slays the dreams of longtime fans who are routing for a bright Rick-filled future.

I’m a sick bastard so I must be a Savior.

i believe that the comic is heading to actually tie into the show now. no rick was not fatally wounded or gunked by zombie goo, but was shot where the t.v. daryl dixon a.k.a. dwight, had gotten back at herschel’s farm. it makes sense even though this comic vs. tv war has been waged, but the clues are there. daryl has now gone with the marauders. which in turn could be possible saviors, which in turn would explain the disappearance of beth, which in turn becomes the reason dwight gets his face ironed because beth is with negan or gareth or whatever kirkman comes up with in names for whoever. so lets rewrite this to be daryl shoots rick in the side with negan not knowing that rick and daryl are long time friends who once fought together, where daryl sets up to eliminate negan once and for all. now time to rebuild and move on to the next antagonist. oh and turns out sheva had cubs after getting pregnant by another rogue tiger so everyone gets their own tiger.

the difference between Negan and the governor is that Rick interracted much more with Negan, he saw him many times, but with the governor, Rick has only seen him two or three times. That makes Negan a more “friendly villain” ,we know Negan more, for that we love Negan more.

Between Dwight complaining about messing up the weight of his bolts with walker juice, and his ambiguous allegiance, I think it’s safe to say that it was a clean bolt. That said, it’s still a bolt going through his large intestine (not kidney, it was clearly right above his hip… too low to be a kidney/liver shot) which is going to be difficult to patch up, and near impossible for them to prevent fecal peritonitis (you’re going to need a LOT of antibiotics that can be directly injected to the wound), assuming his intestine was punctured.

I really do believe that Dwight is trying to play these two men against each other, at this point. He’s had ample opportunity to kill Negan, and obviously has no intention of supporting him long term… so the only reason to not kill Negan is if you are waiting for him to do your dirty work. Perhaps Dwight is having visions of ruling a united hilltop/saviors, with Negan and Rick killing each other off? Either way, he’s looking like a very opportunistic player in this war.

I think I can confidently say that we are all very surprised/confused once we saw that last page because I know i was!! I didn’t actually think Dwight would shoot an arrow at Rick! Part of me thinks that Dwight shot rick with a uninfected arrow and strategically shot him so that it would give him only a minor wound. The other me thinks that Dwight shot Rick with an infected walker arrow and now Doctor Carson will have to amputate Rick’s entire lower body off and substitute it with Professor Xavier’s hover chair!!…or a Pogo Stick (made by master builder Earl Sutton of course) BUT!!! There could be a possibility that Dwight was not the one who shot Rick with an arrow because the picture doesn’t actually show who pulled the trigger. It could have been one of Negan’s other unnamed henchmen! Can’t wait for issue #124 to find out!!! Only 3 more issues of All out War left and only 3 more episodes of Season 4 of The Walking Dead!!! #3iseverywhere

Like issue 116 is Holly who lost Abraham, issue 118 Gregory lost control of the Hilltop, issue 122 Heath losing Denise, issue 123 Ezekiel losing Shiva, issue 124 Maggie losing Glenn…and issue 125+126 feature Carl and Andrea on the covers, that is why I think rick is going to die

ok so this is what i think should happen. Negan and the saviors are going to escape with the thought of actually fatally hurting rick and the whole marcus thing is a treat for them as well. Dwight then goes to check on rick telling him that he was forced to shoot him and that he is going to be okay. then theyre all going to visit the saviors with a surprise attack and kill them all and then rick is gonna capture lucille and everyone is gonna watch as negan is completely overpowered and surrounded then rick is gonna be in front of him with lucille saying “eeny meeny miny moe catch a tiger by the toe” and then when he mentions tiger, shiva comes out of nowhere and eats everyone. the end. #SHIVALIVES

Damn, Kirkman and his cover trolls. He really did top himself this time. No one can really tell for sure if Rick is going to die or not. All the visual clues (possible tainted arrow, apparent fever on subsequent cover) point to yes, but everyone suspects the arrow was clean since Dwight put up such a fuss about the walker juice messing up the weight of his bolts. On top of it all, the person holding the bat on the final issue of All Out War is holding it with their left hand. I really hope that Carl becomes the primary protagonist if Rick does die, but what’s with all these unknown characters on the covers popping up after All Out War? I’m not positive, but one of the guys on the cover for 127 looks like Dwight pre-ironed face. And who is the woman on both the new covers? Sherry? Lily? Someone new? The suspense is killing me over here.

My guess is that Dwight didn’t gunk up the arrow. His excuse will be him echoing the line he gave earlier in the issue that the walker gunk will throw off the weight of the bolts. I know Kirkman is crazy but he is not going to kill off Rick just like he’s not killing off Daryl on the TV show. I know that mantra of TWD is that “no character is safe” but these two characters basically define what the brand is. Nobody wants to be the person to ruin a brand, especially the creator of said brand.

Stop justifying Kirkman’s bullshit, you sheeple. Drew is right, this whole damn chapter is full of plot holes. Sure, you can fill in the blanks anyway you see fit, as long as it makes sense to you. But that’s not how great stories are written. I fucking tell you right now, Kirkman second-guesses himself more than a high-schooler who skipped a grade. But he can get away with those sloppy writing errors because his stupid fans keep going easy on him by imagining those plot holes away with useless and baseless justifications. Kirkman fucked up BIG TIME with this whole arc. He doesn’t know it yet, but he jumped the fucking shark. Now begins a steady decline in ‘the Dead’s popularity. Just watch. True fanboys always know when they’ve been fed enough bullshit by greedy fuckers like Kirkman. You’ll see.

I’m going to play the devil’s advocate here and actually defend Mr. Steven for a moment. First off, Negan was out for the kill when he ordered Dwight to fire that weapon at Rick. He wanted Dwight to kill him. He wanted Rick to die, right then and there. I’m sure it wouldn’t have mattered to him if Dwight hit Rick in the skull instead. He wasn’t planning some awesome demoralizing master plan. How do I know this? Because Negan’s one big flaw is that he underestimates his enemy at every turn, and he’s survived for far too long because of it. He said, point-blank, that the act of killing Rick would be the lynch-pin to his victory. This is excruciatingly uncharacteristic of him, as one of the first things we learned about Negan is that he understands that killing Rick will only make things worse for the Saviors. Yet he has now suddenly changed his mind, regardless of Rick now being in control of both the Hilltop and the Kingdom survivors. That does not make any goddamn sense. Make no mistake, the picture that Kirkman painted of Negan and the Saviors in Chapters 17-19 was brilliant. More to the point, it was compelling to see how Rick would step up to the challenge of standing up to this monster and his army without getting himself or any of his people killed. I was so eager to see the epic battle of will between these forces of good and evil, while still maintaining that classic Walking Dead realism that everyone has grown to know and love (before All Out War, of course). I was let down. I’m not going to list every last thing about this arc that bothered me, because honestly, I would be here all day writing. There was zero development on the Saviors as a people before the war and even less development on them as an army. They are all just nameless, faceless men (save for Dwight) who are more than willing to take suicide mission after suicide mission for a man who clearly doesn’t have all his marbles. He’s nothing but comedic relief at this point. And that saddens me to no end. As an avid reader and someone with an MA in English Literature, I can tell you is that I have been a fan of this book since nearly the beginning. I bled for this book, and swore by all my colleagues that it held up to some of the best literature of the era in it’s depth and realism. All that changed with this story arc, and it could not be more obvious.

          • Gregarious Raptopoulos says:

As I’ve mentioned before, I have some major issues with this arc, but it’s not nearly as bad as you or Steven make it out to be. Negan clearly said shoot him, it doesn’t have to be a kill shot, so no Negan wasn’t simply out for the kill. In addition, we had about as much character development with Woodbury residents as we did with the Saviors, so I’m not following you on that either. My biggest problem is that the strategy both sides employ is extremely flawed. The job could have been accomplished with a 2-3 person sniper team, on either side. In the wall of text you could have easily bullet pointed the major plot holes you saw. I agree with a lot of what you say. Negan is a joke of a villain, as in, yes, he does just provide comic relief. My whole point was that Steven launched an ad hominem attack against Kirkman instead of, you know, actually listing the major plot holes that he never actually identifies. Then you basically do the same thing, less the ad hominem attack, and don’t list a single actual plot hole that both of you can apparently write days about.

One of the best issues yet. Ezekiel redeems himself a little, Sophia returns, Rick finally shows some optimism… then Negan blows away Kal, busts down the wall and starts smashing heads. The second to last page, when Negan and Dwight come up behind Rick and he asks what he’s waiting for made my hair stand on ends. I went back and reread it all before I would turn to the very last page to see which way Dwight went. I was absolutely sure that it was curtains for Negan and seeing that I was wrong just made me more anxious for the next issue. Personally, I kind of hope Rick dies, as horrible as that may be. It would just exemplify that ‘no one is safe – ever’ theme of the comics in a way nothing else could. Also, while it would have ruined the comics in the early days, I have no doubt that characters like Carl, Andrea, Michonne, or Maggie provide more than enough substance for TWD fans, especially given how we might see them change in the wake of it all. Then again, I’m 100% Team Negan and would still buy every issue if they came down to nothing more than him bashing in zombie heads while screaming “motherf-cker” and flirting with Lucille in increasingly disconcerting ways.

Rick has to die this Volume. His story from issue #1 to now has been amazing, and instead of him living the war and becoming a great leader, I think a more beautiful send off would be him dying.

So, this is how it goes down:

The arrow was muck-free—not that it would matter, because the muck will do nothing. Given the amount of walker-gunk this group of survivors have ingested, clothed themselves in, gotten splattered in their eyes, etc., I would be incredibly surprised to find that coating a weapon with the stuff would infect someone.

    So, Rick lives… for now.

The Saviors get inside and start a murder-fest, but not without a huge list of casualties themselves.

Dwight takes his shot at Negan and fails. Dwight meets Lucille.

Negan and Jesus have a run-in. Jesus kicks Negan’s ass, but is ultimately brought down by another savior, giving Negan the chance to smash down on his skull with his lovely Mrs.

Here, insert every other important character dying, aside from Rick and Carl.

In the final battle between Rick and Negan, Rick gets the upper hand on Negan and disarms him. Negan pleas for his life and is not doing so well knowing that he is about to kiss Lucille for the last time. As Rick approaches Negan with a fire in his eyes and a half-cocked smile across his blood splattered face, Carl shows up on the scene and points a gun at his dad.

    What? Why?

Morals. Killing someone with a barbed-wire-wrapped baseball bat is inhumane. Carl knows that Rick is above that. In the heat of the argument, Negan strikes out against Rick, bringing him to his end in front of his son. At, this, Carl puts one through Negans Batman jaw.

    Carl wanders off.

Next issue, we’re following a new group of survivors. Things are hairy and we have to learn some new people. We get used to this new group as they encounter more and more difficult adversaries by the arc. Just when we begin to complain that Kirkman is recycling the same story with new characters (about 100 issues later), they meet the comic’s most terrifying villain to date: Carl Grimes.

    I can’t wait.

Calling it now, the arrow wasn’t gunked and Rick lives. Awesome issue! Poor Carl having girl problems on top of the zombie apocalypse and his dad is too busy fighting a war to help him out. Loving Dwight (even if he did shoot Rick), his character is so complex. You can never know what he’s going to do next. I personally can’t wait to find out what side he’s on: Ricks, Negans, or his own (I’m betting the latter). RIP Kal, the coolest guard at the Hilltop. Awesome issue! Can’t wait for the next one!

Dwight didn’t “gunk up” his arrow–bolt. Sorry. You could see there were no guts on the bolt. Not to mention he shot Rick in his side. If he really was working with the Saviors, he could’ve easily taken him out with a headshot, or at least through the chest. There’s no way he would’ve shot him in the side, even if the bolt did have guts on it, he would’ve shot him through the stomach or chest. But he went for the side, insuring Rick’s survival, because he KNOWS that without Rick the Saviors win.

ya i know but didnt Negan seem super happy after that shot? i dont think he would rather have it any other way then to have ricks people watch him slowly die over the course of a day or 2 rather than have hive instantly die, when he told Dwight it didnt have to be a kill shot that was Negans true intention. I have a feeling this isnt the final battle, maybe Negan wanted to do the same thing that rick and his crew did in 115-116, just make some sort of entrance for walkers to come pouring in and retreat

good question. why didn’t Dwight kill Negan instead of shooting Rick? My reason is, If Dwight ignore Negan order. Negan will smell something fishy between Dwight and Rick. Negan will going to realize that, Dwight betray him and Negan will smack Dwight with Lucille. Yeah, Dwight did got a great opportunity to kill Negan but he didn’t. Nobody will not notice that Dwight kill Negan. let say that if, Dwight did kill Negan. Does that mean the war is over because the savior doesn’t have a leader. The only reason why Dwight is with Negan because of his wife. Dwight don’t want his wife to get hurt by Negan.

I definitely think the bolt was clean. Dwight would kill Negan, but on his own terms. Negan has led his community but instilling fear into their Hearts and Minds, rendering the free will of these good, honest people utterly under his control. Dwight along with the other Saviors believe if they cross Negan There will be consequences, and if other saviors were to see the silent cross-bow wielding hero take a shot at their Malicious leader….what would become of Sherry?

When I first saw the panel with Rick getting shot I was terrified. I want to trust Dwight, but I just can’t yet. It seems like he is playing both sides and just wants to make sure that he is “in” with the winning side. I’m not sure if Negan’s untested infected weapons are even going to work, and even if they do I’m not sure if Dwight infected his bolts. It’s never good to see a potential zombie infection point on a part of the body that can’t easily be amputated.

Personally, I do think that killing Rick is something Kirkman would do.(Note: They’ve been saying the book wouldn’t be the same after this story line) And I like the idea. It would shake things up and in my honest opinion, The Walking Dead has always been about Carl. Him being raised in this Hell and him becoming a man. Killing Rick seems like the most logical thing to do. Given there’s always a complete curveball that no one expects and Rick could be the cure to all mankind or some shit, I don’t know.

Given Dwight is on the good side (?) and his arrow in the illustration looks pretty clean, I still think Rick will be gone. Do I want him to be a walker? No. But sometimes it’s time to let characters go.

Carl, man, just give Sophia a big hug, and tell her you’re sorry. Then, because Negan (I reckon Dwight stalled too much, Negan worked out he was a traitor, took the arrow and shot Rick himself) shot your dad with a zombie-gunked arrow, find a way to grab Lucille and cave Negan’s skull in! Have a rant with each hit like “This is for Tyrese, Carol, my mum, Judith, Glenn and my DAD!!” kabloom, eyes popping out, bad ass Carl standing atop Negan’s body, Lucille in hand, creepy eye exposed, (that would make an ace cover actually) this, naturally, spurs Michonne to go crazy, Ezekiel wants to be a hero so he also goes charging on, Andrea is blowing off heads while tears stream down her face, and the Rick the Walker appears and no one really knows what to do, no one particularly wants to be the one to kill him. Up steps…. SOPHIA. Just a quick, simple blow to the head, and there we go. Rick’s dead, there’s a lot of heartbreak, Carl gets the girl, (He’s hardened to this, he knows Sophia did what she needed to do, so he hugs her and says “I still like you” and Sophia says “I still like you too” they hug). Michonne is weeping over Ezekiel, who was killed by a Savior, turns and then had his head lopped off by Michonne. There’s general death and sadness everywhere, but Negan is dead and the Saviors are retreating, so really it’s kinda a happy ending. Rick and Ezekiel have funerals, Rick’s funeral also acts as a funeral for the last of Carl’s childhood (totally not the right word but you guys get what I mean). And there you go, I’ve written issue 124 for you, and 125 because that would be the funeral issue. Oh and Negan’s body gets fed to roamers, y’know, because why not?!

Also.. Eugene and his buddies arrive after the battle is over, once the help-with-escape-guy sees that Negan and everyone else are dead him and his buddies go postal because they weren’t really trying to help at all. And he tries to kill Eugene. Rosita doesn’t like this, kills the guy, and his buddies and confesses her love for Eugene.

When Andrea is philosophizing to Maggie about her face being cut up and having to accept her reality was a good example of why Kirkman is brilliant because the characters are deep and there is metacognition of the universe in which they live. And isn’t it great that Rick took one of those bolts. I so hope he dies off soon and Michonne takes over.

Lily, Bob Stookey, and some other Woodbury members are now listed as alive, while they were previously listed as unknown, on the Walking Dead Wiki page. I have a feeling All Out War is going to take down the vast majority of the characters we’ve been following for the last ten years. It looks like Lily is going to be the new protagonist. http://walkingdead.wikia.com/wiki/Comic_Series_Characters

So at the end of reading this issue, I am really worried for Rick, but I can’t believe that he’s going to die. Although in Kirkman’s AMA he did confirm that Rick is by no means safe. I do feel like there will be a time when the story has evolved past Rick, but it’s not there yet. Now onto fanboy speculation!

Can zombie gunked weapons kill? This is an unproven theory especially when we consider all the contact with dead zombie fluids survivors have had in both the comic and tv series.

Was Dwight’s arrow, I mean bolt, even gunked up? Somehow I doubt it…

Also, there’s the scene with the blacksmith and the foreshadowing of Rick getting some sort of potentially bad ass prosthetic. I am really hoping Rick survives but I think if he does it should sideline him through the finale of the war and allow other characters to step up.

    Excited for the next issue..

Hey, let me just add another theory. Mine is that Negan’s plan isn’t, in fact, a plan. Let me explain.

As you know, and have seen so far, people kill walkers, destroy their heads and skulls, sometimes far, other times, few centimetres away. And as we all know, things like blood and brain matter usually splatter and flushes (I don’t even know if this term is correct, but hey, I hope the message goes through).

So, it is practically impossible that someone haven’t already been in contact with Walker’s fluids and blood. I mean, come on, they live surrounded by them. It only needs a wound in your body. Something like that. Look at you own arms or face and see how many zits or scratches you have. Now, as we’ve seen so many times in the comics, zombies were inches a part from one’s body, There would have to been some kind of contact. And so far we haven’t seen anybody dying because a zombie sneezed on them.

So, all this to say that, people don’t die and turn into a zombie because they were bitten, I guess (well, they have now cut some legs and arms to prove my point). People turn into a zombie because they enter in a sepsis state if not attended and if the wound is too big to treat – and a creature ripping half of a calf, for instance, inserts this category. That’s why i think Negan’s plan is not a solution for his own sake. That’s why – I think – the only thing the bolt have done is a hole to Rick’s body. Nothing more than that.

    But that’s just my opinion.
    Cheers
