I grew up on action movies. Schwarzenegger, Stallone, Bruno, you name it, I’m there for it. If a movie has fist fights, gun battles, explosions or cool guys walking away from explosions, I’ve probably seen it. But I can honestly say that I’ve never seen anything like ASSASSIN NATION. When the world’s former greatest hitman is nearly killed by an unseen assassin, he hires the only people that can possibly protect him; other hitmen! Hiring the top 20 killers in the world may seem like a great idea to you or I, but as you’ll find out, it’s pretty damn hard for that many killers to get along. This book is like taking all of your favorite action movie characters and throwing them in a blender to make a smoothie that will also blow up your house. Imagine if The Expendables had been good. You’ve seen the rest, now read the best. Arnold and Sly will wish they could have made this series.
ASSASSIN NATION would not have been possible without Kyle Starks and Erica Henderson. When the pitch for the book was sent to me, it surpassed everything I hoped a book from this creative team would be. I’ve loved Kyle’s writing for a while on books like Rock Candy Mountain and Sexcastle but I really think he’s outdone himself with this. And I’ve known Erica since way back when Unbeatable Squirrel Girl started and I’ve been dying to see her do a book here at Skybound. Thankfully, the stars aligned and she was able to create this here action masterpiece. Tie everything together with the masterful lettering of Deron Bennett and this is one of my favorite series I’ve ever worked on. I’m positive you’ll enjoy ASSASSIN NATION, now try and survive the experience.
