Fuck that's a lot of money
I agree with Bob. Looks great but way out of my price range. Pay rent or buy this? Maybe Kirkman should start thinking about those of us who actually have to work for aliving and not the flash-in-the-panners who will scoop these all up, cherry pick the items and sell them on Ebay.
yeah sorry i just spent about every penny to my name buying the issues i didn't own off of ebay, thats way too much
I concur. But, I see the 'strike while the iron is hot' mentality. The excitement of issue 100 is deserving in the manner in which 'WD' is everywhere right now, and although I'm sure there is a place in the market for this; This is just FAR too much, although quite a lot of goodies for the money. One question maybe an admin can answer? I recently saw a photo by the publisher of Image with 15 covers to issue 100. What are the other covers not solicited, and by whom, and will they be released? Are they future exclusives? There's a black cover with red title, there's a Ryan Ottley sketch cover and a few I can't recall right now.
Just curious
what a slap to the face for walking dead fans. Really, 100? and for $250???? I already have all the variants pre-ordered. I can silk screen the shirt and box my self and probably do it for 30 bucks! How ridiculous
Damn that's expensive ...
Adam - Would love to hear your ideas.
Jamal - Can't say anything about the other covers yet.
The latest cover released is only available for those wealthy enough to go to attend $DCC and run the obsticle course.
Shawn: Understand that I doubt you could count on your left hand the number of fans more addicted to TWD than I am, both the comicbooks and the series. And that I have the highest respect for Kirkman and Adlard.
More options would be a good start. They could start by thinking about those of us whove been reading the series since #1, not just the Dixon's Vixens who are hoping Daryl's going to show up on 7-11-12.
I understand "striking while the iron's hot" and "supply and demand" but start thinking BIG PICTURE. The TV series won't last forever and there are thousands and thousands of us who will continue to read the books long after the closing credits of the show scroll.
Limiting this to 100 IS insulting. We all know this will sell out in minutes. If even that long. Give us the option to purchase the "exclusive items" seperately. Instead of 100, make it 500. Include "coupons" in the issues that we can redeem for other items. Take the 1990's Valiant Comics approach.
I sound like I'm whining now. It's 11pm and it's still like 97 degrees and I think my brain is fried. That and I just watched Nightline and Call Me Maybe is stuck in my head, so now I have to buy the dang song on iTunes.
$250 is a bit steep when it doesn't include all 15 covers, and even then it doesn't seem like a good deal. As it stands the boxed set would be $150. If the t shirt was limited to only 100 of that design would be another good start . I'm thinking for $250 and 100 copies (hopefully numbered copies) it would also include items exclusive to the box set. I suggest this so a complete box would not depreciate in value and be had for $50 down the line. 100 issues is a big milestone, so was 25, 50 and 75. I was wanting something more as a fan of the comics and tv series, something a bit more special, a fan appreciation. If these suggestions are impossible then its understandable, its business and I want to see the walking dead to its end. If this is what it takes fine, just give those who will be around for the end something to chew on.
Thanks!
Even an edition of 500 would sell out quickly. Everything Walking Dead is being consumed until there is no more to consume. Even if the fans were allowed to pick and choose someone would be left out. Coupons in issues would make those issues more valuable if they had coupons, so now you have to purchase 2 copies.
Maybe it is the heat and fans are becoming walkers in their quest for walking dead anything.
I just want to read issue 100 and enjoy it even if it is that sad, bent, slightly torn, cover missing, last issue in town orphaned comic.
Not surprised, kirman's greedy ass screwed over tony moore, will be screwing the fans in the ass until the end of this over-hyped series
you can't please anyone nowadays it seems. If you enjoy the series just buy one copy of #100, read it and look forward to #101. Don't think about what you can buy and sell on eBay or what special edition items are on the market. If you can't afford them, don't worry about it. At the end of the day it's the story that matters.
@Crucial if you hate Kirkman so much, why are you in the SKYBOUND website??
Every 'special' thing they've done for the 100th issue has been aimed squarely at collectors, not readers. Readers, who love the book for what it is, keep the comic going. Reward us - with a longer issue, a colour issue, more issues, whatever. This is just a slap in the face. Pay literally hundreds of dollars for literally nothing extra in terms of story. It's an insult. Thanks Kirkman.
Oh really Harriet? Did you miss the month with 2 issues instead of one? Have you already attended one of the free midnight launch events? Have you read issue #100 and were disappointed? Do you know everything Skyboud (which I am sure is more than just Robert Kirkman) has planned? Since you apparently can see into the future perhaps you can tell me a few good stocks to invest in?
If you don't want to buy the collectors stuff...don't! It in NO WAY affects the enjoyment of the story thus far or moving forward.
P.S. a color issue would NOT be a reward! A true fan recognizes the B&W is employed for a reason. Color would ruin it.
P.P.S. I don't see any of the people who are complaining about the collectors edition engaging in thoughtful conversation about the story on The Walking Dead section here on Skybound. Maybe take a look in the mirror before complaining about Kirkman? He's producing lots o' writing every month on multiple books and you can't even be bothered to share constructive comments? Hmmmm...
Im not trying to overtly complain. I just want us, the fans, THE REAL FANS, to be appreciated for making this series the success it is.
We all know it won't last forever but well stick with it.
And I'm already buying multiple copies so coupons would be great. I've cut my Marvel and DC list to make room for extra copies of the issues that tell the best stories, Zombie Survival stories. That and I have friends who live in the rural sticks and don't have access to comicshoppes that carry The Walking Dead so I'm the good friend who sends Zombie Care Packages.
Please don't whine, folks. There's tons of 100 issue options available for the readers. It makes sense that only 100 of these are available (100th issue, duh). With the shirt, watch, all of the covers, etc. the price is about right. Not to mention the secondary market is going to make the value of this much more than $250. Also, if you ever read any of Kirkman's replies in the letter columns, he LOVED comics event stuff like this growing up, so he embraces it. Thanks.
